Shortly after it was revealed the Obama administration is engaging in a coordinated media attack on Rush Limbaugh, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs admitted that he's having fun battling the conservative talk radio host.
Gibbs is apparently also enjoying the sparring with CNBC's Jim Cramer and Rick Santelli.
Anything to distract the nation from a deteriorating economy and the obvious lack of a plan to do anything about it I guess.
As reported by the Hill Thursday:
President Obama’s spokesman and confidant simply characterizes his battles with Limbaugh and CNBC commentators Rick Santelli and Jim Cramer as “fun.”
He adds that the rationale behind engaging those critics from the podium of the White House briefing room is to correct the record on Obama’s policies during times of severe economic uncertainty.
“There’s a certain amount of theater to it that might make it more fun, but it’s important that people understand the policy,” Gibbs said in his West Wing office.
Actually, Bob, I think people do understand the policy. That's why the market is down 20 percent since Inauguration Day, and why stocks plummet virtually every time you or any member of the Adminstration talks about the economy.

Unethical
March 7, 2009 - 13:03 ET by slickwillie2001How does this administration get away with using government resources to attack a private citizen? Isn't this one of the charges against Nixon? There are administration employees in our White House, and you and I are paying their salaries, using government computers and telecommunications to attack a private citizen. This is highly unethical and possibly illegal.
We have seen Congressmen under ethics charges for simply using government letterhead for fundraising, or making campaign calls from their government telephones. Why is there no concern over what Dear Leader is doing?
So people can't laugh a little until the DJIA rebounds?
March 7, 2009 - 13:10 ET by nwahsLaughter is good for the soul. Besides, its helping the economy. Rush himself has said they are expanding his base. The Washington Post says Rush's ratings have doubled with this war. Don't you see how the administration is helping private enterprise and having fun?
They're also inspiring new production. There's the anti Rush bumper stickers. There are the anti Rush television productions that are being put together at this very moment. It is making it easier for comedy writers to remain employed. And this new product I'm thinking about. Yup, this is an exclusive! The Limbo ( have to consult a few lawyers before I call it Limbaugh) Crying Towel - A simple white towel with a cartoon of this heavy set character weeping and saying "I'm a privath citithen!"
This can help the economy and be fun. Multitasking at its finest. :)

March 7, 2009 - 13:28 ET by KC MulvilleEverybody knew what Rush Limbaugh meant, even if (as I argue) he expressed it awkwardly. The White House has been hammering Limbaugh, using a misinterpretation as its bludgeon. They've been going out of their way to spread the idea that the "leader of the Republican party" wants the president to fail.
And now Gibbs says that they're just doing it for fun (trying to destroy a private citizen is fun?) and to make sure that people understand their policy (what policy? their deliberate misinterpretation?).

It was more than mere awkwardness, KC.
March 8, 2009 - 00:40 ET by JerIt was more than mere awkwardness, KC. Maybe the following example will be helpful in understanding my position.
When Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980 and was faced with a miserable economy and continued challenges from a Soviet Union that still constituted a grave threat to our national security, I disagreed with the domestic and foreign policies which he appeared poised to implement. I honestly thought his actions might fail and make things substantially worse in both areas. Even so, I wasn't hoping for failure just to be proved correct, or because his lack of success would no doubt inure to the benefit of Democrats in subsequent elections. And I would have been absolutely stunned if a major liberal media figure or politician had "welcomed" Reagan into office with the statement "I hope you fail". Rush was obviously unconstrained by such niceties. Fine, but if he is going to dish out that kind of rhetoric, he should be prepared for the backlash. Not surprisingly, he plays the victim card, whines about imaginary attempts at muzzling his message, confers Republican martyrdom upon himself, and implicitly threatens "RINOs" who dare step out of line to co-operate with the administration.

Jer
I understand that part of it
March 8, 2009 - 03:53 ET by KC MulvilleWell then, let's be clear. What do you think Rush meant by that comment? Let me offer some options - you're not limited to these (I wouldn't insult you so), but these are some of the possibilities:
After all, you have to ask the question, are we open-minded enough to accept success, even if it violates our ideology? The "want him to fail" premise is that Rush is so close-minded that he'd rather people go hungry because he's took proud to admit he's wrong. (I think that accusation is insane.) What if, despite all evidence to the contrary, the liberal economic agenda really works? What if we discover that a massive tax hike, and massive spending, will actually work? Would I support Obama?
But that's the problem. They won't work. When you want people to start doing business, you don't help by taxing them. At the very moment when we need people to spend, we've undermined their incentive.
I'll put it to you this way, Jer. Liberal government can't exist unless the conservative business world makes the money in the first place. No business, no taxes, and no taxes, no liberalism. Everything begins with people making money in a market-oriented world. But markets are free. They go up and down. The market moderates the fluctuations through the simple penalty of failure. (I know you know this, but I need to set up my point.)
Obama's agenda, expressed coldly through the idea that you don't waste a crisis, is to replace the market-oriented necessity of failure. Instead, he's going to spend trillions of dollars to make government spread the cost of failure to everyone. The stimulus only keeps people going, hoping that a solution comes along in the meantime. But he isn't addressing the central problem. He's doing nothing about the toxic liabilities that are stopping the lenders, but he's spending trillions to keep people going in the meantime. That's great, we all need help to get through the hard times ... but we'd rather you start fixing the hard times directly.
He's like a doctor who gives you drugs to mollify the pain, but he won't perform the surgery that will fix the injury. That's a treatment plan that won't help, and can only waste the money we'll need to recover.

Rush Limbaugh is Called a BUFFOON By "Father of the Year"
March 7, 2009 - 19:57 ET by Rush FanThat's correct. Father of the Year Alec Baldwin, in a heartfelt and caring piece at the Huffington Post wrote this:
"Rush Limbaugh is an uneducated, marginally talented, overbearing, recovering drug addict who was, at least according to Wikipedia, ineligible for the draft because he had cysts on his ass."
Baldwin further went on to write:
"Until Limbaugh gets real, weans himself off the big salary and runs for office, he will always be nothing more than a poorly educated, marginally talented buffoon who has developed a real talent for manipulating the G-spot of the neocon consciousness and massaging the hate gland of so many economically displaced white voters in America."
Now you have to keep Baldwin's "buffoon" comment in perspective. Remember that it was Good Daddy Baldwin who left a message on the answering machine of his 11-year-old daughter that said in part: " You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being." Later in the message to his young daughter Daddy Baldwin said: " So I'm going to let you know just how I feel about what a rude little pig you really are. You are a rude, thoughtless little pig, OK?"
When you are as popular as Rush Limbaugh, those who crave the attention and public notoriety will seek out a small piece of Rush's spotlight, from leftist Robert Gibbs, Alec Baldwin and the MSM, to those on the right such as neo-conservative David Frum.
------------------------------------------------------
“The left -- you people, you Democrats -- you are creating a monster that you will not be able to control forever. You will ultimately regret what you are doing just like the media will ultimately regret its sacrifice of reason, its abandonment of its primary purpose.” ~ Rush Limbaugh
Respectfully, who cares what Alec Baldwin thinks?

As for Rush being uneducated?
The myth of college continues. Clinton, Gore, Obama and others are poster children for how truly worthless a piece of parchment can be.
FWIW: If Rush needs any college degrees, he can have both of mine and even credits for post-Masters work I did.
Oh, yeah: As for being educated. Baldwin surely is holding forth his BFA from NYU as an example of how well educated he is, is he?
Is that where they educated him so well that he later, through superior intellect and insight, called Vice President Dick Cheney "a terrorist" or Sean Hannity a "no-talent whore"?
Baldwin's an embarrasment, but a prime example of the wrong type of education, and way, way too much self-absorption and worthless opination.

"They voted on one article of impeachment already. And I come back from Africa to stained dresses and cigars and this and impeachment. I am thinking to myself, in other countries they are laughing at us 24 hours a day and I’m thinking to myself, if we were in other countries, we would all right now, all of us together, [starts to shout] all of us together would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death! We would stone him to death! [crowd cheers] Wait! Shut up! Shut up! No shut up! I’m not finished. We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we’d kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families. [stands up, yelling] What is happening in this country? What is happening? UGHHH!"
Hey Alec...I will have to ask the same question; "What is happening in this country?" Barack HUSSEIN Obama is single handedly destroying America's wealth with his socialistic policies! This "president" has targeted a private citizen (Rush Limbaugh) as a distraction of his stupid ass policies, but Wall Street "ain't" buyin' it. The wealth producers of this country can see the screwing that's coming! Hey byt the way, how's your little girl? You fat washed up talentless freak!
Obama is a gay coke head
