Palin Appearance Gives 'SNL' Highest Ratings in 14 Years

The Obama-loving media might hate Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, but according to preliminary estimates, the Alaska governor's guest appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" gave the program its highest ratings in over fourteen years.

This seems to go hand in hand with the great reception Palin got Saturday evening from the audience in attendance for the live broadcast who enthusiastically applauded as she walked onto the stage during the program's opening sketch.

Maybe even more surprising, they weren't the only typically liberal New Yorkers enthralled with the Alaska governor, for the New York Times' television critic actually gave Palin a very solid review.

But before we get there, here's what Reuters reported moments ago (emphasis added):

"SNL," with Palin as a guest, averaged a 10.7 rating/24 share in the 56 metered markets, according to preliminary estimates released Sunday by Nielsen Media Research. It would be the highest-rated "SNL" since March 12, 1994, when Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan was the host and Aretha Franklin the musical guest. [...]

Saturday's show was up 161 percent compared with the average in October 2007 (4.1/10). It was up 47 percent compared with the October 4 "SNL," which averaged a 7.3/18.

Earlier in the day, the Times' Alessandra Stanley wrote (emphasis added):

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska made her point by going on "Saturday Night Live." She proved she has a sense of humor at a time when the country is still debating whether to take her seriously as a potential commander in chief.

And that was what was so remarkable - and jarring - about her engaging, relaxed performance on "SNL," which included being ogled by Alec Baldwin ("You are way hotter in person!") and bopping and swaying to a satirical rap song.

Ms. Palin's delightful performance on Saturday stood out from the efforts of other politicians who have made fun of themselves on the NBC late-night comedy show.

Is this enough to help McCain's campaign in the final weeks before the election?

Stay tuned.

The real question is...

...does Sarah have life after a 2008 loss?

The answer: Yes! McCain would never had have any life in this election with her. Let's not forget that regardless of what happens.

Amen brother.   But a

Amen brother.

But a bigger question is.... will America have life after a 2008 McCain loss?

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

Palin 2012

I have a very short list of GOP candidates I Plan to support in 2012:

A) Sarah Palin; B) the current governor of Alaska: C) the hot chick with the boots and cool specs who is "pallin' around" with the old guy.

Would Sarah be a great President? You betcha.

you can insult me call me

you can insult me call me name any name you want but i will tell you this..if mccain does not win this year, palin only sees the white house on a tour..and if we elect our president on how she looks in boots,i can think of a lot of women a lot hotter including my wife...maybe she should run since that might be her only qualification for the job as much as i adore her..much like someone else..PALIN

Well, remember what

Well, remember what happened in '92 when Bill Clinton went on Arsineo Hall in Ray-Bans and played horrific tenor sax, right?

Tina Fey the Wax Replica

You know how in a wax museum they have all those replicas which are supposed to look like the real person, but always have a creepy look to them. That is Tina Fey as when you behold her you know she is nothing like the Lady.

It reminds me of the old actor line, "I'm not a doctor but a I play one on television".

That is Tina Fey the liberal perfectly, "I'm not a Lady but I play one on television".

She proved she has a sense of humor at a time when the country is still debating whether to take her seriously as a potential commander in chief. [she's running for VP... I repeat, VP.... this just in.... VP....]

And that was what was so remarkable - and jarring - about her engaging, relaxed performance on "SNL,"...

Still, with her subtle choice and styling of words and references, you can tell that giving Palin a thumbs-up was gut-wrenchingly painful for her to do.

But heck, she DID do it.

We'll settle for small miracles from these intellectual idiots (yes, that's a strange pairing of words.)

There's a sleeper surge of

There's a sleeper surge of anti-Obama, pro-Palin voters out there that is under-polled and non-reported, and pops up now and then at various forums like Sarah's rallys and SNL. I think we are going to see quite a surprise Nov 4.

As another anecdote, I was talking to a lady today in her 80's. Out of the blue, she wanted to talk about her experience in Church this weekend, where the priest made a comment that he was not supposed to talk politics because the church could lose its tax-exemption. So he didn't. But his remarks made it very clear he was very anti-Obam. And so was his congregation. BTW, this lady never votes, but is staunchly Democrat. This is the first time in a very long time she is going to the polls -- along with all her friends -- to vote McCain/Palin. And I'm seeing this everywhere I go.

Hi TnT... I don't know if

Hi TnT...

I don't know if you know this today, but I saw this early this morning...Reuters/Zogby has McC gaining 6 pts since Friday's debate.Joe the Plumber with Independent likely voters, I usually take the time to have a link here, but I have been super busy today, plus this was from Zogby's own lips this morning on the Wa. Journal....

This is quite a move the msm doesn't want to talk about...lol.

There are times when you have to report just the facts Jack...just the facts...and this was one perfect example.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

Yet another subtle sign

My mother, a lifelong democrat wants to vote for McCain. My BAMS (big ass mccain sign) is being joined by lots of other BAMPS (big ass mccain palin signs). The backlash over the media pile on of Palin and now Joe teh plumber. The growing body of people that are angry, not just at Obama, but also the liberals and the Mainstream Press. The anger over Acorn.

I am starting to think in terms of a Reagan type blowout. I think McCain may win and win big. And then the navel gazing about the skewed polls will be renewed again.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

Amen

You cannot win if you forfeit. I believe all we have to do is show up and VOTE. Period. The MSM knows it too, and that is why they are skewing the polls by adding Democrats and blacks at higher levels than ever before. They are trying to discourage us, convince us that it is no longer worth our time to go vote.

Just put your head down, ignore the MSM and the skewed polls, and on November 4th, check the box for every candidate with an 'R' by their name. If we do that we will win. There are more of us than there are of them. Even independents don't want a Socialist in power, no matter how "moderate" they think they are.

Joel & JWF

You guys are so right !! And yeah, Joel, historically this country has had a majority of smarter, more pro-Americans (in the classic, good way) than all these flavor-of-the month progressives/liberals/socialists.

The MSM's clear attempted strategy here is to demoralize the majority.

And YES, I also agree that independents and undecideds are generally more rational thinking than not, and Socialism is not rational and flies in the face of what this country is about.

NOW PLAYING:
Governor Palin Get Your Gun

Hello Joel

We had all better show up and vote. A landslide will be a message to the republicans in the house and senate how we feel. I've seen headless chickens with more sense of direction than they have.

Exactly

Precisely. It will also be a message to the MSM and the Leftists that they cannot get away with their lies any more. Three straight times the Democrats have tried to thrust a Lying Socialist on the American people for President with cover provided by the MSM and, God willing, 2008 will be the third straight time the American people have yelled back, "FAIL!"

Only this time, I think it will be a Reagan-type landslide. We will definitely win back the Senate, and while the House will still be controlled by the Pelosi Gang, their hold will not be as strong as it is right now.

  The media blew their

The media blew their cover of supposed impartiality when they attacked Joe.  Now the media trashing of Palin is being looked at in a whole new light.

Because she's hot...

Sarah Palin is the real deal and they had to have her...too bad for Oprah...

Drill ANWAR

Don't look now

Don't look now but tonight's episode of Family Guy just had Hitler wearing a McCain/Palin button.

Seth McFarlane is wrong.

Somebody should go back to the 1940s, bring Hitler to today's time, and then get him an interview.

Olbermann: Mr. Hitler, of the two forerunner candidates for the U.S. presidency, who would you support?
Hitler: Ach. An obvious question. Barack Obama.
Olbermann: Ha ha ha, very funny. No seriously.
Hitler: Barack Obama.
Olbermann: Mm, that's a very educated choice, Mr. Hitler. Why not McCain? I mean, people tend to associate far-right conservatives with the Nazi party--
Hitler: I support a weaker United States.
Olbermann: But let's get to the real nut of the issue here - why would you support Obama?
Hitler: Because he would weaken the United States, both economically and militarily. We would have the advantage in Europe. Without the United States to involve themselves in our affairs, we would conquer the wor--
Olbermann: Okaay, you just watched an interview with Adolf Hitler. Stick around for more Countdown. Bye. (off-screen) Tell the floor manager that if this goes live I'll rip his damn head off.

To be fair, it wasn't

To be fair, it wasn't Hitler (just a "plain old" Nazi).

However, my fiancee and I groaned big time when we saw that. Ugh. Gimme a break. Can I be the first to say ---

 GODWIN'D!

 This piggybacks nicely

This piggybacks nicely with McCain's Letterman apearance this week which gave Letterman his highest ratings in 5 or 7(don't remember exactly) years. I have a hard time believing this would happen if the race was over.

Obama's Economic plan: more taxes, more spending, more regulation. Prosperity here we come.

They look a like?

If Palin and Fey resemble, it's only in the way that Tina Fey would be, say, a less attractive sister, jealous of her sister's looks, talents and popularity.

If that comment upsets any liberal bedwetters, it's satire. If Fey can dish it out, she's got to be able to take it.

But the truth still

But the truth still remains... Sarah is both prettier and smarter than Tina could ever hope to be! Just the facts!

Noel are you sure that Sarah Palin didn't give SNL their ONLY ratings in 14 years?

it's MRS. Palin!

Anything the msm can do to destroy the idea of marriage and the family as we know it.

Did you see where Alec Baldwin mistook Sarah for Tina and made that  dumb, most embarrassing  statement to Lorne? Then had to add insult to insult by saying she was hotter in person? what a toadhead.
