SNL
October 19, 2008 - 00:35 ET by TheAssessorI haven't watched SNL in a long time but tuned in tonight to see Sara. Loved her. The rest of the show is painfully unfunny. They reach for 'funny' but slow down at gross or stupid and just never get there. Now that Sara's been on they can go back to the dim ratings they deserve.

I thought they went out of the way to place her
at the fringe of the news desk to make her "not one of us". Any
regular viewers know whether that's a normal distance for a 4some at the desk?

October 19, 2008 - 01:07 ET by AuH20girlI thought she was great. I liked the Weekend Update rap - it was funny and it shows she's able to laugh at herself. She looked great too.
The musical guest, Adele, was a nice surprise.
Edit: Holy cow, look at those boots!
Someone came up and hugged her at the end. I don't know who - I know it wasn't Tina Fey.

I try to be careful with that though. I am a bit worried that some people might actually write-in Palin, and that would be a disaster!

If You Really Support Sarah Palin
October 19, 2008 - 13:17 ET by Free StinkerIf You Really Support Sarah Palin, then you have to vote for John McCain, regardless of how difficult and distasteful that is. (very)
Being Vice President will give her a huge advantage when seeking the Presidential nomination in 2012 or 2016. The good of a Palin presidency will outwheigh the bad of a McCain presidency.

October 19, 2008 - 20:10 ET by MrShyWow, last night's SNL pulled in the highest viewer rating in 14 years!!
http://www.thrfeed.c...
Seriously, this, her packed arenas on the campaign trail, a record 70 million watching the VP debate.
The MSM in all their bullsh*t polling wants no part of this woman... which, btw, is now down to 3 points:
http://www.reuters.c...
We need to start bracing ourselves for the hell the Dems/libs will unleash if the "unfathomable" should happen to their Anointed One.
All his endorsements; all his record-breaking campaign money; all his greek columns; all his MSM adoration and fawning and protection from his past; all his "it's the Dem's year" mantras; all his good looks and charm and smoothness; all his ACORN minions fighting to the death; all his good fortune with the economic crisis these past weeks....
... all of this, still, might not be enough to put this empty suit back together again come November.

Yeah, this might just end up being one of those great, timeless lessons for all of us, to not underestimate human being's overall innate ability to overcome all that's thrown at them and distinguish between what's real and what's fake.
Again, I'm excited now and won't get ahead of myself. In the coming two weeks, we have to.... WE GOTSTA'.....

October 19, 2008 - 20:27 ET by Jack BauerI've recently put $20 on McCain at my online bookies, @ 5/1.
That's good odds in a two horse race. Oh did I mention I also bet $20 on Palin as the VP pick, the Tuesday before the announcement?
Got 8/1 on that bet.

Sarah was great!
October 19, 2008 - 01:23 ET by PrairieSkyI was in high school when SNL first went on the air, and I've been a fan pretty much since then. That said, the last few years we have essentially boycotted it because it just hasn't been very funny, and we got fed up with the political cheap shots that SNL indulges in.
But tonight we made an exception to see Sarah and how they treated her. She was great, and I think the segments with her were actually pretty good. The Weekend Update segment was funny...especially the rap.
It appeared that she was treated fairly on-the-air...I just hope she was off-the-air, as well. Overall, I have to admit that I am surprised it went as well as it appeared...This close to the election, I was expecting almost anything.

October 19, 2008 - 01:20 ET by MexNobamaAfter the ratings boots SNL has received from Sarah they needed to have her on.
She's funny and very natural. If the ticket loses this time look for her to be the odds on favorite in 2012.
On the other hand between this and Joe the Plumber, who knows, maybe they'll pull it out after all.

October 19, 2008 - 19:53 ET by Cape ConservativeI mean, seriously. Who even knew that show was still on the air??
I think the SNL producers should make a hefty contribution to the McCain/Palin campaign - the highest rating in its history??? It wouldn't have been without our SARAH!!!!!
McCain/Palin 2008!!!!
Bravo, Sarah!
October 19, 2008 - 02:05 ET by SnowbunnieWe watched the entire SNL to see all the times Sarah was present.
It was painful most of the time but Sarah was outstanding. At the beginning, when she passed Tina Fey, it is good for Tina there was no lingering to make comparisons. Tina would not have fared well.
As Alec Baldwin said, 'You are way hotter in person'!
Now Sarah can get back to winning this election with John.
What a really painful and unfunny waste of time SNL is!
She was perfect...
October 19, 2008 - 02:39 ET by ImAllRightThat's what the American people need to see from her, not her being McCain's attack flunky.
Baldwin was very good as well. Glad they got Marky Mark in there as well.
Maybe just a little more pep on that "Live from New York..." line though. Other than that, perfect.

I Love Gov Palin
October 19, 2008 - 03:45 ET by West Coast MinorityI was so nervous... not about how SNL would treat her, but about her performance. She is such a natural. The Weekend Update dancing was comfortable and enjoyable and made her look like a very cool chick.
Now... I am trying to figure out what the attack angle will be from the Huffpo - Koskid - MSNBC crowd will be.
Any guesses? My guess it will be something about her being so out of touch that she was dancing when the economy was burning. But that makes too much sense.
We'll just have to wait for the crazy.
All the Mavericks in the House Put Ya Hands Up!!
October 19, 2008 - 06:29 ET by dodecahedronI found it rather amusing.
Did you hear the pop Governor Palin got from the crowd in the opening when she came on stage to replace Fey? It was like President Bush getting applause from a DNC crowd.
Lets see the dirty filter MSM try to spin that.
My base is feeling energized right now.
The woman has class.
October 19, 2008 - 08:06 ET by JWFI remember stick up his butt Al Gore did not go on until after the election.
This was the SNL I love. They made fun of the liberal media, the america hating Dem filled states, and Obama-Ayers link. In other words they poked fun at the other side too.
Unlike the late night talk shows, comedy central political show, and other shows that just hit on one side.
Sincerely,

October 19, 2008 - 08:29 ET by HockeyKidWhile I loved Sarah's appearance on SNL this week--she is SO cool under pressure--I don't think it's NBC's fair play that prompted the new sketches.
Rather (pardon the pun), I think now that Howard Stern has shown that most Dems-on-the-street actually think Sarah Palin is running on the Dem ticket, NBC is trying to pump her up so their "educated base" will vote for Barky "let's the spread the wealth" 0bama.
But the teaser after the NBC rap video was great: Amy Poehler, playing a reporter, says to Tina Fey, playing Gov. Palin, "When cornered, you become increasingly adorable..." Don't we know it?!
Meanwhile, Kim Basinger is meeting with her attorney today to file a new lawsuit against Alec. Clearly, he must be insane to say "that woman" is much hotter in person!

October 19, 2008 - 09:26 ET by MidAmericaI'm waiting to see if CNN and MSNBC run these clips over and over as they have the previous ones.
Wow
October 19, 2008 - 09:35 ET by Smoking HotI think generally politicians and political candidates don't belong on programs like SNL. I shouldn't care how well a politician entertains anymore than I should care how well a electrician cooks brownies. It's not very relevant.
That said, Sarah Palin did a fine job. And maybe this was a little bit necessary given how unflattering her portrayals on this program had been. By going on last night, pallin' around with Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, she demonstrated that she has civility and a sense of humor. This counters well the extreme left caricature of her.
And bravo newsbusters. I did a google search for this video, came up empty handed and realized, of course, newsbusters will have it. And here it is.

Too bad...
October 19, 2008 - 09:38 ET by geoksterI heard her say on an interview with Boortz on Friday that she had not even seen the script yet and had no idea what she was going to be doing.
What a hoot it would have been if she had had enough time to learn the rap and do it herself.

October 19, 2008 - 10:43 ET by Secret ConservativeThe opening bit, but didn't want to sit through the rest of the show just in case Palin was back. Besides, I knew that Newsbusters would have anything relevant online this morning! Thanks, Noel. I thought she did very well, and I actually thought the rap thing was pretty funny. I kinda wish that when Alec Baldwin made the comment about her being hotter in person she would have come back with a line about him being way fatter in person... But then, that would not have been dignified.
