16-Year-Old Climate Realist Kristen Byrnes Interviewed By NPR

Almost a year ago, NewsBusters introduced readers to Kristen Byrnes, a 15-year-old Portland, Maine, student that marvelously took on the so-called global warming consensus, as well as some of its strongest proponents such as Nobel Laureate Al Gore, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and NASA's James Hansen.

At the time, Kristen was being invited by all kinds of media outlets -- including Fox News -- to discuss her research either on television or radio. All such requests were turned down, as Kristen wasn't ready for the camera or the microphone.

Well, it appears that turning sixteen has been a good thing for Kristen's confidence, for on Tuesday, she was interviewed by NPR, and she did a fabulous job.

As such, with great pride, I recommend you sit back, and listen to America's future, which, with folks like Kristen waiting in the wings, is far better than the left and their media minions want you to believe (audio available here).

Brava, Kristen! Brava!

But, Noel, I thought our only hope for the future were the kids coming home from school, after their daily indoctrination, scolding their parents for their carbon generating ways.

You've pointed out the problem

Kristen did research, and didn't rely on "consensus", as 'agreement' is NOT proof, only opinion. When will our learned "journalists" learn the difference, or have they all misplaced their dictionaries?

The 16-Year Old shill for Big Oil and Tobacco

I am sick of these 16-year old shills getting paid off by Big Oil and Tobacco. The Fossil Fuel industry has no shame. I guarantee you she wrote a paper denying second hand smoke causes instant death when she was 2 years old and has been cashing in ever since! What is next? Does she believe in the flat-earth? Does she deny the moon landings and the holocaust? Why is she not on medication for her denial? These are questions the deniers would not want her to answer!

Hi Noel,  I was on my

Hi Noel,

I was on my way to bed when Mike told me about your article. It's been a long day. School, track and over 1300 new emails when I got home. I think the reporter did a nice job, it was weird though, he was here for over 3 hours and they had to make it into 8 minutes so it was a surprise on how much we talked about did not get into the interview. He was really nice, I was really nervous and felt nauseous at first but he just hung out for a while before pulling out his microphone. You might be surprised that there are many sceptics in the NPR audience. Most of the emails were very positive but even the people who disagreed were polite and congratulated me on my work. Have a good night, I'll check in tomorrow.  : )

Good interview and

Good interview and surprising from NPR. I was lsitening at lunch in my car and caught it. I think the money point was your friend who doesn't think about why she believes what she does. But, my 32 year old daughter is like that and she wont change. She believes because she does and that is it. WTG Kristen.

Kristen,

I'm glad Mike saw this. I was going to send the link to you when I got home. Hope you like the piece.

I'm very glad you got the courage up to do this. You were great, as I knew you would be.

How's your throwing going? Any new PRs you can tell me about? ns

Great job!

Kristen,

As I told Mike your interview rocked the house today! People loved you and told us to pass the word on to you. You really sounded as smart as we already know you to be.

Anytime you want to load more papers just let me know (we help Kristen by providing hosting for some of her work). You're too young to retire :-)

This is a neat story about a bright kid.

BUT...I do object to "listen to America's future, which, with folks like Kristen waiting in the wings, is far better than the left and their media minions want you to believe".

Isn't it always the conservatives on this site that say the youth of America are hopeless, that we're in trouble, etc.?

Isn't it always the conservatives on this site that say the youth of America are hopeless, that we're in trouble, etc.?

Links please.

And with youths like Kristen around, the only ones in trouble are lazy scientists.

Pledge to not support RINOs ever again!

I'm never going to be able

I'm never going to be able to find them. It's usually when there's a story about rock 'n roll, MTV, schools, etc.

No biggie. I'm actually ruining Kristen's moment...gugh.

Notice at the end of the

Notice at the end of the audio, the communist npr directs you to the UN climatenazi's for the "concensus" that all the world really believes it is man's (USA's) fault.

The sun is not set by a thermostat.....

Bal, isn't the point of

Bal, isn't the point of learning new things and expressing oneself the basis of critical thinking?  We as conservatives bemoan the slothfulness of youths who swallow the propaganda without even considering if it is worth taking up space in their heads.  What Kristen demonstrates is the critical thinking mindset that displays the necessary amount of skeptism in today's world of competing ideas.

Yes, at times it does seem hopeless that youth will ever engage in critical thinking, however, context is everything, life experience brings context and youth grows to maturity.  Our education system caters to the slothful as it is about spoon feeding information, any information including propaganda.  Many of the teachers in our education system are as slothful as the students they supposedly teach.  Do not confuse regurgitation with education, anyone can parrot the party line or spoon feed information but it takes a critical, skeptical mind to descriminate the vomit from the food.

Kristen better be

Kristen better be careful...she may end up being thrown in jail since many AGW advocates believe it's a crime to do research and experiments, or to speak out against the "consensus" viewpoint. At 16 years old, she's quite brave to take on these nutcases. It also goes to show just how fragile the entire AGW hypothesis is - especially when a teenager can sound more rational than "the world's top scientists."

Here's an excellent series that raises many pertinent questions concerning the entire AGW debate. I think it has already created enough doubt about the alarmist viewpoint, and the series isn't even halfway finished:

Congrats

Way to go Kristen.  I'll be holding you up to my daughters as an example of what one can do, no matter what one's age.  Keep up the good work.  Now that you've entered into the lime light, remember, it's easier for people to knock out the pedalstol you stand on then to climb above you, so get ready for lots of stones to come your way.  Let them be water off a duck.  Also, congrats to Mike and your Mom.  Sounds like they've done a wonderful job of nuturing nature.

Kristen:

You have done a wonderful job with your research and discussion on the topic of Climate.  Congratulations on your school accomplishments as well.

You are a fortunate person to not only think for yourself but to also have the intelligence to know what you don't know and to learn what you can know.

Whomever nurtured the desire to learn within you, parents/teachers, is to be commended for a job well done.

Thank you!

Hippies

I heard your story on NPR yesterday and I had a great laugh as they closed with you saying you didn't want to be labelled as an environmentist because you didn't want to sound like a hippy or something.

Thank you so much for that one... it was awesome!

Vince.

Kristen.....

You seem to have discovered the secret to a rewarding future life.....

Do what makes you motivated, what makes you happy to get out of bed in the morning. There is nothing more fullfilling than to work on or work at the thing that gives you the greatest pleasure.

Good luck in architechture :)

Liked the interview. Also

Liked the interview. Also liked the friend. She still sounds like she has an open mind really and her beliefs are not set in stone. Not knowing why you believe is a good first step. On Kristen's site, I especially liked her take on Hybrids. Great observations by someone who I don't imagine drives just yet. Hybrid is such a feel good name. They should be called cars with regenerative braking systems and added complexity. Real world results will vary.

For Kristen, she has

For Kristen, she has unfortunately set herself up with the bullseye on her back at the hands of the envirofascists. Don't expect any help from her politicos in Maine, where even Republicans like Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe would show their RINO tendencies. I hope Inhoffe still keeps in contact with her.

I should have known NPR

I should have known NPR couldn't do something without getting their usual "consensus" garbage in.

Much of the evidence comes from detailed computer models. Scientists
disagree on some of the details. A handful do not think the case has
been made. But the overwhelming consensus is that humans are causing
global warming, and the consequences could be serious.

After all, we know the truth about consensus, right?

The New Batch

We had a generation steeled through the depression and two world wars that gave strength to our nation. Unfortunatley that generation raised the Baby Boomers in a time of prosperity and peace. Today we see the results of a spoiled generation in control of a country.

Will the next generation have enough people like this girl, or will we find that the indoctrination of a generation through beaurocratic institutions, created by the Baby Boomers, squashed the majority of thinkers?

I'm 13, the same way

The only thing is that nobody in my family (except for my grandfathers) agree with me on global warming and won't ever listen to me when I tell them that global warming wasn't caused by humans.

Which means you will learn

Which means you will learn to practice an important life lesson, agree to disagree and then when it turns out were you're right all along, be a gracious winner because they will feel foolish enough on their own without you rubbing it in.  That's called character.

Have them watch these Videos

Just ask them to have an "open-mind" and watch these videos. If they refuse ask them why they would not want to watch something on 20/20?

Censored Global Warming Videos

Just getting them to watch the 8-minute one from 20/20 is enough to get most to stop being hysterical.

Great job Kristen. There is

Great job Kristen. There is hope that the scientific process will survive another generation. If you do put the global warming issue on the back-burner, could I suggest you take up economics as your next battle cry? It seems like a natural progression since both "sciences" deal heavily with unintended consequences. Keep the shades on because your future is bright.
