Stop Global Warming: Get Sterilized and Ride a Horse

Just how much are you willing to sacrifice to stop global warming, assuming of course that you're drinking Al Gore's Kool-Aid?

Well, in England, a woman has actually sterilized herself.

And, in France, they're talking about replacing municipal cars and trucks with horse-drawn carriages.

I kid you not.

As sterilization seems the more extreme measure, let's begin there as reported by England's Daily Mail Wednesday (emphasis added, h/t NBer lunaticcringeradio):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby, to have a pair of innocent eyes gazing up at her with unconditional love, to feel a little hand slipping into hers - and a voice calling her Mummy.

But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.

Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet.

Incredibly, so determined was she that the terrible "mistake" of pregnancy should never happen again, that she begged the doctor who performed the abortion to sterilise her at the same time.

[...]

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni, 35.

"Every person who is born uses more food, more water, more land, more fossil fuels, more trees and produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases, and adds to the problem of over-population."

While most parents view their children as the ultimate miracle of nature, Toni seems to see them as a sinister threat to the future.

Fortunately, the Mail included a picture of this woman so that folks around the world can see what environmentalist cadre look like :

Scary, don't think?

I don't know about you, but I never felt having children was a selfish act. Quite the contrary, I believe successful members of a species that decline to replicate their genes are being selfish as most of them do it for their own personal interests and not those of the species.

After all, if a majority of any species opted out of the procreation process, said species would cease to exist.

I'm no expert, but on the surface, that doesn't appear beneficial for that species.

I'm just saying.

Heading across the Channel, the French are considering moving back to the Dark Ages in order to solve global warming as reported by Reuters Wednesday (emphasis added):

Horses are a possible alternative for vehicles such as school buses and refuse trucks, say groups eager to pick up on global concerns about eco-friendly transport.

"It's all about sustainable development and bringing some humanity back to today's monotonous, machine-driven jobs," Stephane de Veyrac, from the French National Stud Organization, said at this week's annual conference of French mayors.

De Veyrac's group says it is the first in France to offer consulting on a wide range of horse-powered vehicles that could also haul bottles and aid street sweeping.

[...]

Studies about cost and overall carbon footprint are still underway but supporters say the animals beat cars and trucks on a number of criteria, especially for transport work requiring frequent stops over short distances, like emptying trash bins.

Do you think such studies will factor in the methane released by these horses, which, for those drinking the Kool-Aid, is a much stronger greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide? And what about the other environmental disadvantages reported by NewsBusters in February:

In his piece published Tuesday in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dwight R. Lee wrote (h/t JunkScience.com, emphasis mine throughout): "The motto of all environmentalists should be 'Thank goodness for the internal combustion engine.'"

[...]

The emissions that came out of the tailpipes of horses were much more lethal pollutants that those now coming out of the tailpipes of cars. Horse emissions did more than make our town and cities stink; they spread fly-borne diseases and polluted water supplies that killed people at a far greater rate than the pollution from cars and trucks ever have.

Lee deliciously continued:

Photochemical smog is clearly a health risk, but not nearly the health risk of cholera, diphtheria and tetanus that have been largely eliminated with the help of gasoline powered transportation.

Honestly, how much of Gore's toxic tonic must be consumed for one to believe regression is progress?

I Can't Care About AGW

I just can't care anymore about man-made global warming, now that I've learned that, by examining dark matter, mankind is shortening the life of the universe.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2007/11/21/scicosmos121.xml&CMP=ILC-mostviewedbox

I'd have to change, like, four or five lightbulbs in order for me to save the universe if one'll save the planet.

By the way, back on topic, we have to clean out the pasture every few days from the remains of just two horses. Just imagine if we replaced all our transportation with these animals.

Please don't ridicule the

Please don't ridicule the end of the universe.  Man has seriously hurt the universe by looking at it!  Now instead of lasting 150 bazillion godzillion years, it will only last 149.99999999999999999 bazillion godzillion years.  Damn, and I was going to really enjoy that last 1/100000000000000 of a bazillion godzillion year!

Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who didn't. - Ben Franklin

Brought the sterilization

Brought the sterilization story up in the Open Thread yesterday but it didn't get any hits...glad to see it's front and center today. It's just jaw-dropping.

The only thing the Europeans would accomplish with this would be the sooner arrival of Eurabia, because as the population of Europe is declining, Muslim populations are increasing everywhere and emigrating to Europe. (there are a couple of books out right now that discuss this.)

These women may be "saving the planet" for a global  government by Sharia law. Well, what do they care, they won't have any descendants affected by it.

Europeans are so...........

It is always amusing to see hysteria at work. A woman who does not want children goes into public FEE not free hillarytax in England and gets the tubes tied.........when just not having sex cures having babies.

The Frogs on the other hand are a bunch of communists except for that lovely homme Sarkozy who is busting those sloven unions ruining the Republic there.
Actually horses might be a good thing for France, because they would need pooper scoopers, the biscuits could produce methane for fuel and they could burn the compressed chips for electricity.
Tis the way France ran for years in coaches and canal boats pulled by horses........people had a lovely time on picnic.

So in my case to do my green part, I ate a whole bunch of smoked turkey yesterday, a complete homemade assortment of stuffing, cranberries, fried sweet potatoes, butter beets.........I forget all as it was piled high and topped off with my own vintage of wine...and homemade whipped cream on my homemade pumpkin pie cut like the days threshers cut pies in fourths.
I even went out and played with my newly purchased horses I saved from slaughter........slaughter that would have them eaten by Europeans and pooped in the Dutchman sea.

No surgery required for sex as here am I waiting on God to straighten out my madame with an offer of yes and got a good horse too boot.
As John Wayne said, "A man out on the plains values a good woman almost as much as a good horse........almost".

Speaking of extreme measures to combat global warming, did I miss a NewsBusters post or was this just too gross to cover:

Sir Paul McCartney’s ex Heather "Mucca" Mills yesterday used the launch of a planet-hugging billboard campaign to suggest that drinking rats' milk might save our beloved Earth from livestock-provoked apocalypse ...

In defense of Ms. Mills, she is not advocating solely for the consumption of the milk of rattus rattus but is encouraging us to select from "25 alternative types of milk", including others ... which, frankly, are not much less gross.

Toni Vernelli's

Toni Vernelli's sterilization qualifies for a Darwin Award! Removing themselves from the gene pool by being unable to reproduce. However, I doubt Mrs. Northcutt will publish it in her next edition of The Darwin Awards!

The Rocky Mountain Collegian: Illustrating Idiocy

My thought as well.

However, the planet's twit population will thrive with or without Ms. Vernelli.

If people like thsi don't

If people like thsi don't breed it is better for all of us.  She doesn't look like the procreation type anyway.  Looks like she spends alot of time dancing without her clothes.

The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is the rifle recoil.

I was going to change my

I was going to change my lightbulbs to those new 'green' types, but this morning that volcano in Kilauea put out more carbon in the span of 1 minute than I will put out in the course of my entire life.

So, screw it. That volcano has put a crimp in my plan to save the world from the greedy humans.

I sure hope that Al and his crackpot team of tinfoil hat scientists can figure out a way to cap that volcano and save us all...

Airforce,

My thoughts, exactly when I read this headline. The less of her ninnified kind, the better.

Also, this is the ultimate "statement" as to these people's complete and utter hatred of mankind. Must be so conflicted in their homes...

Essentially eveything they "do" goes against their beliefs. How does that work anyway?

"Having children is

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni, 35.

OK, now we have a real sign of comittment.

From now on nobody gets to say they believe in manmade global warming unless they are willing to submit to sterilization.

Holy Cow Free Stinker!!!

Encyclopedia Brittanica of what a complete moron you must be to continue to believe the GW blather. Very Nice.

A-D, short version of the b_-_-ch slap. Yes there are extreme conservatives. The main difference between an extreme conservative and an extreme liberal is:

The Liberal wants to control every aspect of your life.

The Conservative...well, doesn't.

Stinker, don't forget that

Stinker, don't forget that besides Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Titan, Triton, and Pluto are all warming.

And, contrary to assertions by a certain alleged high school science teacher posting on this site, solar output has been increasing.

"A communist is someone who reads Marx.  An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx."  Ronald Reagan

Agrarian-Collectivist, what

Agrarian-Collectivist, what color is the sky in your universe?  Not a conservative one denies climate change.  Every one of them has been saying that the climate has been changing since the beginning of this planet.  Every one of them has been saying the climate has been warming since the end of the last ice age.  Every one of them has been saying that the climate has been warming since the end of the Little Ice Age.

What conservatives question is whether or not this current uptick is the result of human activity instead of natural variation.  It has been pointed out on this site by myself and others that global warming is also occuring on Mercury, Venus, Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Titan, Triton, Jupiter, and the other large bodies in the solar system.  I have provided the links to the articles concerning these statements several times before.

Your twisting statements and lying about the debate subject are getting tiresome.  Oh.  I forgot.  The debate is over, right?  Global warming alarmists are being censored by Bush, right?  There is total consensus about AGW among scientists, right?  Give it a rest.

Not a conservative one denies climate change

First of all, supplanting the term "climate change" for global warming is the admission of game/set/match failure of James Hansen and Al Gore to prove their theory.

Of course, no one denies climate change.  It's been happening for 4.6b years.  The difference is that a small handful of people are attempting to use this natural phenomenon to legislate costly silliness - carbon taxes, unjustified increases in the cost of energy fuels, unwarranted attempts to reduce our hard-fought for standard of living.

Whatever color he tells himself it is, he better not look at it. According to a story out today, mankind is destroying the universe.....by looking at stuff.

Sometimes I wonder if libs don't float ideas like going back to horse draw transportation just so some other idiotic idea they are REALLY gonna throw at us won't seem as so.

Read any good history book dealing with the evolution of transportation, such as Douglas Brinkley's Wheels for The World, and you will find that one of the blessings of the internal combustion engine is less disease.

Before the automobile, horse manure and urine was a common sight on the city streets of any city, as were the assortment of flies that feasted on it.

If you can't get people to believe an outright lie, what do you do?

You first question the truth. Then let the listener subtract, add, and change key details until you can brazenly say, "The truth is a lie ... THIS is the truth."

Case in point ...

Genesis 3:1-4

(1) Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, "Yea, hath God said, 'Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?' " [at this point Eve should have quoted Genesis 2:16-17 and ended the conversation]

(2) And the woman said unto the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden" : [she left out a key word ... freely]

(3) "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, 'Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it [she added these words], lest [she changed 'surely' to 'lest'] ye die.' "

(4) And the serpent said unto the woman, "Ye shall not surely die!" :

Genesis 2:16-17

(16) And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat." :

(17) "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it : for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

I think there is something

I think there is something good to be said for all the eco-nuts sterilizing themselves. I draw the line at abortion, though.

And think about this folks: the political party in this country that advocates abortion on demand is also the one that is the GW fanatics.

Conservatives outbreeding liberals

 Anyone remember this one?

Over the past three decades, conservatives have been procreating more than liberals -- continuing to seed the future with their genes by filling bassinets coast to coast with tiny Future Republicans of America.

Take a randomly selected sample of 100 liberal adults and 100 conservative adults. According to an analysis of the 2004 General Social Survey -- a bible of data for social scientists -- the liberals would have had 147 kids, while the conservatives would have had 208. That's a fertility gap of 41 percent. Even adjusting for other variables like age and income, there is a gap of 19 percent.

European Absurdity

Hello, everyone. Long time reader, first time poster.

I always marvel at the monumental arrogance of people who proclaim an act that impacts their lives and theirs alone is somehow done for the benefit of humanity. You're one insane British woman, get over yourself! Given this lunacy, I think she's doing a favor by not contributing to the gene pool.

As for France, is the idea of replacing earth-destroying vehicles with carbon-neutral horses (ahem) to distract visitors from the smell of the residents or am I being an insensitive conservative?

CJK, welcome.  Yes, she's

CJK, welcome.  Yes, she's nuts.  However, her act does benefit humanity.  By not breeding, she cannot pass on her stupid gene, thereby marginally benefitting all of humanity.
