It's one thing for the creators of the wildly successful "Obama Girl" to produce a new video attacking conservative author Ann Coulter for her recent statements regarding Jews needing to be perfected.
Yet, as the song refers to Coulter as "a whore," "petty," "hateful," and someone that "ignores civilian casualties," it seems rather absurd that ABC's Jake Tapper not only blogged about it, but also that ABC would actually post the video at its website.
Sadly, there it was at Tapper's blog Political Punch Friday:
"Perfect me, make me petty, I want to be hateful just like Ann Coulter," sings Leah Kauffman.
Kauffman and her collaborators are probably best known for their "Obamagirl" video and song, but the latest offering takes on the controversial conservative pundit with a far more serious tone.
The song features clips of Coulter making some of her more offensive comments about John Edwards, Arabs, and the 9/11 widows. Playing off Coulter's recent pronouncement that Christians want to "perfect" Jews by converting them, Kauffman makes light of Coulter's imperfections.
Some of the lyrics also include:
Mom says she's a whore/Dad says she's starved for attention/But she's got the hottest Adam's apple at the Republican Convention.
And the delightful chorus:
Perfect me/ Make me petty/ I want to be hateful like Ann Coulter/ Convert me/ To Christianity/ I want to be perfected, Like Ann Coulter.
Isn't that special?

Wow!
October 28, 2007 - 16:22 ET by superconI guess we know how ABC feels about Ann Coulter.
Have you ever seen a news network attack someone so personally before?
So let me get this right in my head. The little tart singing her little song is criticizing Ann Coulter for being "petty" and "hateful" as if those qualities don't apply to her by calling Ann "whore" and "petty" and "hateful"?
This is your typical leftie thinking. You see the singer isn't being hateful because her comments are directed at a conservative but Ann's comments are hateful because they are directed at liberals.
It's just like that on the DailyKos where they denounce your intolerence by calling you a "right-wing racist bigot baby killing a**hole.
Typical leftie thinking.

October 28, 2007 - 17:06 ET by motherbeltRight, supercon. We had a similar discussion in another thread. A speaker was shut down by college students running around and yelling obscenities at him. One of the students said "We should all accept each other." And followed that up with "I don't think he should be allowed to speak."
In another thread, a journalist said that conservative women have their minds made up and won't listen to the other side. Then in the next breath, complained that Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a platform on The View, to espouse her antiabortion views.
Jaw-dropping, isn't it?

October 28, 2007 - 18:30 ET by Right2thePointNever ever make the mistake of classifying them as students shuting down speech. Look at their posters and shirts and notice the web page references and follow them back. The most vocal and vile of the "protestors" can be traced back to show that it is an organized thing by the very same groups that sponsor the majority of the speech that is allowed on campus of the most left wing variety. Go beyond the surface there is a major story there.

Stunts
October 28, 2007 - 16:28 ET by KC MulvilleI’m tired of watching stunts. This video is simply another stunt. The Obama Girl video was a stunt in the first place, and now she’s using stunts to go after other people she doesn’t like, and ABC helps her along, to “make a statement.” I think of the Code Pink woman with the red-stained hands assaulting Condoleeza Rice to “make a statement.” I think of the deviants dressing up in costume and getting communion to "make a statement.”
Unless you make an argument, please keep your statements to yourself.
The problem is that these aren’t statements. They’re juvenile stunts. They attract attention, but they don’t offer argument or reason. They merely express frustration. They’re temper tantrums. We have 300 million people in this country. A lot of us want to “make a difference,” but when you’re an adult, you have to distinguish between:
the self-serving, ego-centric desire to compel everyone to agree with you; versus
I don’t care how strongly you feel about any issue, you just can’t expect 300 million people to pay attention to you. The best you can do is respectfully submit arguments for others to consider, and let the country decide for itself. You won't reach everyone. Chances are, you'll reach very few. But that's reality. You need the humility to realize that the only statement that makes any real difference is a vote.
very profound point there

October 28, 2007 - 16:46 ET by Lame CherryLiberals never understand the rules. The above photo capture says it all.
First you have Ann Coulter looking perfectly stunning as usual in a confident and intelligent package.........pretty nice for a "whore".
Lastly you have the Obama bag who is pleading, miserable, needs a hair wash and with the "sheen" on her skin it looks like she is 3000 miles past her oil change for greasy skin.
One can call all the names they like, but the message these Obamamorons is simple.........Obama is a skank and Coulter is a babe.

October 28, 2007 - 19:07 ET by motherbeltbal, I have never heard Ann Coulter whine about the way she's treated. If anything, she jokes about it.
In her newest book, which I am reading, she recalls an interview with
"Human Events" when the interviewer asked her:
"What do you enjoy most about your life as a bestselling author and columnist?"
She answered
Enjoy most: the prospect of having an impact on the public debate. Irritating liberals is a close second.

October 28, 2007 - 19:47 ET by motherbeltI'm not saying what she does or doesn't deserve. I'm saying she enjoys the controversy, and she can take it (without whining) as well as dish it out. Which is a lot more than most liberals can say. They get angry and hostile, complain that she's mean, it isn't fair, she's "gone too far". She cracks a joke and moves on.

October 29, 2007 - 10:32 ET by BlindSightthanks for bringing the video to our attention.
That `Bama Girl should really be ashamed for allowing herself to be offended by Coulter`s obviously well-intended remarks. She should just turn the other cheek, like Coulter does - oh, but I forgot, `Bama girl hasn`t been perfected yet. Should we forgive her, or take offense?
And shame on ABC for trying to capture traffic on this by actually putting up the video instead of just linking to You Tube; shameless, aren`t they?
