Following in Bill Maher's footsteps, former President Bill Clinton told off some 9/11 truthers that were heckling him during a 50-minute speech he was giving at a fundraiser for his wife in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tuesday.
Sadly, he didn't say anything about Rosie O'Donnell.
However, as reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, what the former President did say -- as shouts came from the crowd about 9/11 being an inside job -- was rather delicious (video available here, emphasis added, h/t NB reader Don Deskins):
Early in his speech, Clinton was sporadically heckled. One heckler shouted that 9/11 was a fraud, and Clinton bristled. "No, it wasn't a fraud. I'll be glad to talk about it if you'll shut up and let me talk." The heckling continued, and he told another heckler "these people did not come here to hear you speak. If you don't have any self-control, we can deal with that."
When a third called 9/11 an "inside job," Clinton snapped back "How dare you? I live in New York, and I know who did that. You guys have got to be careful, or you're going to give Minnesota a bad reputation."
Wow. In the span of a week, I've agreed with Bill Maher and Bill Clinton.
What's a conservative to do?

October 26, 2007 - 10:13 ET by FastEdBe afraid - very afraid - there's a plot afoot - could be THEIR October surprise, preparing for the November surprise!
Actually, both reactions were self preservation and attack-backs - THEY were being criticised (sic) and they fought for THEIR "honor".
There is no sense in being stupid, if you can't prove it! - my dad V
Be careful, Bill..
October 26, 2007 - 10:25 ET by Sergeant ROCK"..You guys have got to be careful, or you're going to give Minnesota a bad reputation." Too late! lol
He better be careful, lest he lose the 'truther' voting base for Hillary.
"Too late..."
October 26, 2007 - 13:05 ET by ForeverOnTheRightJust my thought. I live in the Socailist Republic of Minnesota. ( My fate, I was born here.) It's full of loons, not of the bird kind alone either. At least The Twin Cites are. They love diversity, unless your a right-wing conservative Christian, then they mock you. You have to belong to the diversity club before they'll accept you. Oh, and of course, their are plenty of "bumper sticker liberals" with hateful intolerant slogans on them, "Impeach Bush" etc. But don't you dare have a pro-hetero marriage bumper sticker, that's hateful anti-gay!
Greetings

I did too, saved the link to send here just in case it wasn't here.
First critters I thought of were posters here like ThoughtPolice and other moon-bats...wonder what they think of this from a Clintoon...
Never-mind I can probably go to Dailykos and HuffnPuff and find out real quick...don't want to wreck such a beautiful morning quite yet!
As an aside, wasn't that precious...Bill Clintoon defending his wife, and himself, the guy who did absolutely nothing about the build up to this all while he was occupying the Oval office...ooops I forgot he had other important matters to attend to, which after-all helped aid to his Impeachment.
Don't be duped.
October 26, 2007 - 10:39 ET by mattmYou actually think this was a spontaneous thing???? Good gawd!
Everything the Clintons do is scripted. He knew damned well those freaks would be there - Minnesota is infested with them. (He may have even brought his own hecklers with him)
He knew this would be a perfect chance to make his wife's candidacy look better to the non-insane, middle-class, sorta-patriotic voter. He has used this tactic in the past.
We have to stop being so easily fooled. If we keep accepting the Klinton Machina at face value we can look forward to eight years of Hitlery.
Yeah, like the Clintons
October 26, 2007 - 11:30 ET by candanceYeah, like the Clintons didn't have that answer planned out.

October 26, 2007 - 14:43 ET by Jerry MackKnowing that Maher is a Clinton(s) supporter I thought this might be a setup to help distance Hillary and the Democrats from these loons. Can not prove it but believe that situation on Maher show was a prelude to Clintons appearance in Minn. I hope that someone identifies the loons and find out if this was a planned happening.
History shows that Clinton
October 26, 2007 - 15:21 ET by mattmHistory shows that Clinton has used these tactics before, whether they're planned or merely planned-for.
It's just part of slick Willy's bag of political tricks that he has been using since the 1960's.

Let me guess, Noel..
October 26, 2007 - 12:28 ET by Gary HallLet me guess, Noel..Personally, this week, I haven't watched a lot of network news - or even cable - but I'm going to bet that the MSM did not give this incident a heck of a lot of coverage, if any. My hunch would be, that if President Bush, or Cheney, etc., had talked to one of these idiot protestors in such a way, that it would have been all over the news -- and the angle would have been more of this WH's suppression of "free speech."The other angle, I believe that the MSM plays into here is that they do not want the news out there that Bill Clinton does not, in the least, buy into these silly 9/11 conspiracy theories. In the MSM's world, the less done to upset the radical suspicion of and hatred of Bush, the better. Best to just leave the story alone. Clinton will be interviewed time and time again in future weeks. I'll be surprised if it is brought up.
Reminds me of WMD's, and several other issues which stayed front page these past few years. When Clinton (Gore, Albright, Cohen, etc) came out in 2002, 2003, etc., and staunchly defended the view that they also believed that Saddam still had the damn WMD's, the MSM kept it quite. Given hundreds of opportunities to quiz them on the issue, the MSM choose instead to let the shrill anger against the Bush administration fester, rather to lay the common view of both sides on the table, so that the country could move forward.
Interesting material. (;~> gary

I would say something about the lightning rod stuff when it comes to BillnHill...but would get banned from here...hehehee...
It's sooo tempting.
A good way I do look at Bill supporting his wife for Prez (although she already has been and messed up this country enough, which we are still paying for today) is that most critters he supported....LOST.
Clinton heckled
October 26, 2007 - 21:04 ET by johnbarryThe chickens are coming home to roost for the Clintons. The far left is running amok. Hillary Clinton as a Socialist cannot condemn the extreme left lunatic fringe. If you sup with the devil you need a long spoon.
A Clinton presidency does not bear thinking about. It would further embolden left wing extremists whilst Stealth Taxes would crush the middle class. Conservative Democrat voters must make common cause with Independents and Republicans to defeat Clinton.

October 27, 2007 - 15:27 ET by 4arrowBad acting indeed and surprising too as I can picture BC standing before a mirror practising every expression he would ever need for any occassion. He has always been aware that TR said a good president must be a good actor. sigh
