Media Research Center President and NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell appeared on the Fox News Channel program, "America's Newsroom" shortly after 10 a.m. Eastern. [See video embed at the right; audio available here]
Mr. Bozell gave his thoughts on the media's coverage of the Tea Party protests, the good, the bad, and the Roesgen. Below is an excerpt:
MEGYN KELLY, co-host, to Brent Bozell: There's been a lot of outrage over this clip, online and other words [sic]. CNN has come out and said she [CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen] was doing her job and quote, "called it like she saw it." Do you see a problem with it?
BRENT BOZELL, MRC president: Well, you tell me where in that clip was a reporter reporting news. This was an activist debating with an activist, and calling herself a reporter in the process.
BOZELL: Look, two or three years ago when you had the immigration rallies all over the country, the media celebrated them, they thought this was very American. I tell you, Megyn, there's nothing more American than the American people demonstrating against oppressive government. There's nothing that defines America better than that. And yet, last night on the coverage, and for the last few days, it's not just that kind of coverage that we just saw, it's insulting coverage. I've never seen anything like it.

CNN's asinine response that Roesgen 'was just doing her job' is a tacit admission of the obvious.

SUSAN ROESGEN
April 16, 2009 - 09:33 ET by MrltavernI thought Susan Roesgen coverage was a disgrace! Did you see how she walked over to the protester and said "oh you're here with your two year old...." in a snarky little tone. that's right Susan, those who are not on the liberal left can actually bring their 2 year old to a rally. Why? Because it's peaceful. No fires, beatings, looting and destroying property.
Put that on your botoxed lips and smoke it. SHe's no longer a reporter she's just graduated to activist with the rest of them. If I ever saw this woman on the street I'd let her now that. After I restrained myself from slapping her face.
What the hell was she talking about anyway? Did you see how she tried to justify the tax break? She was puhing out of her botox lips that "did you know that you can get a 400 dollar tax break". Is she serious? What the hell is that going to for a family? It can't even pay a car payment. These are the same people who criticized Bush's tax cuts and checks just months ago. Obama is doing the same thing.
And what about Anderson Cooper's little comment "it's hard to talk when your teabagging"? I know if there's anyone in the mainstream media who knows about teabagging it's Anderson Cooper.
I had a great time at the tea party I went to. And it wasn't just conservatives there. There were democrats libertarians and those who are simply FED UP with this goverment and especially the liberals in Congress.

The T.E.A. Party
April 16, 2009 - 09:35 ET by aakaakaakSomething all the talking heads on all the stations have said is that if we really want to make this effective a single day out will not make an impact. It needs to be long-standing and concerted. In theory, we could show all of government how disgruntled we are with both the Democratic party and the Republican party. We could form the Tea party, dedicated to reducing taxes, returning states rights, shrinking government and returning lost freedoms. The Tea party isn't a left or right thing. It's a smart thing.

This is the real CNN
April 16, 2009 - 10:16 ET by slickwillie2001CNN has shown their real face as a result of the Tea Parties, and it's an ugly thing to see. You expect this when a network loses seriously in the ratings; they get desperate and do anything they can to get buzz. It points to bad management at the top.
CNN~
April 16, 2009 - 11:35 ET by Georgia GirlYou're right. The coverage was ridiculous and unprofessional!
But on a bright note...as I watched FOX (O'Reilly, Hannity, etc.), I was pretty darn proud of the Tea crowd. Witty signs. Good spirit. Great conduct. I felt they were great representatives for us.
I'm all about looking forward to 2012 -- it give me real hope~! Anybody have any brainstorming on a great Republican candidate? Thoughts on Romney...Huckabee...Newt...anyone, anyone?

These people are part of the problem and not the solution, (1994 Newt might have been the solution, not 2009 Newt).
Maybe Rick Perry of Texas. You have to like a governor who says his state has the right to pick-up and leave if things get too assinine.

Re Newt
April 16, 2009 - 17:40 ET by slickwillie2001Agreed; Newt should have an office somewhere in the bowels of the RNC, generating ideas and proposals. He should never run for anything again and stay off of the tv box.

One word. Wow.
April 16, 2009 - 12:55 ET by Scout FinchI knew Shuster was a partisan hack from way back when. But I had no idea he actually said what he said in those transcripts. Those words had no place on a "news" show, even on a dog-and-pony act like MSNBC.
But I was really put off by Anderson Cooper. While I knew his politics were leftist, he always came off like he was impartial and above the fray. His "teabagging" comments prove him to be low class. It may be all fine and well to joke around with the boys at the club that way, Anderson, but on CNN? You "blew" your formerly classy impartial cover on that one, Cooper.
On Anderson~
April 16, 2009 - 13:10 ET by Georgia GirlI agree. He really lowered himself. So unprofessional!
Re Cooper
April 16, 2009 - 13:45 ET by slickwillie2001Agree on Cooper, he was one of the few people left at CNN that I have any respect for, but his descension into MSNBC-style vulgarity showed a side of him that I have never seen. He's no longer a journalist in my eyes, just another hack trying to out-gross the Olbermanns of the media.
He made a mistake. Because of what he said...
April 16, 2009 - 15:17 ET by jawebster1people who didn't know, now know. Per a twenty second google check, I learned the man is a homosexual. I personally don't care what he is, because I don't watch him in the first place, but I'm sure there are many people watching him now who do care about that sort of thing and are tuning him out by the hundreds, if not thousands. His ratings are low now, so this comment of his is not going to help. On the other hand, he may have gained a brand new audience. Jim Webster

April 16, 2009 - 13:57 ET by Lord ErondWould have let the man finish his answer then had a follow up question. A real journalist would not have tried to interject a debatable point into her 'reporting', case in point, "Did you know that Illinois will get 50 billion in stimulus money"(or something like that). That sums up why CNN's ratings are in the toilet.

The only time I watch the main stream media is when they show "clips" of their programs on Fox or on NewsBusters. There is stuff I avoid on Fox too. Geraldo Rivera for one and that smiling "Black" professor who shows up on "The Factor" all the time, for another. That is where my DVR comes into use. My DVR is not just for commercials. Jim Webster
