Chris Matthews is apparently not the only one who gets "inspired" by Barack Obama.
Blogging from the convention floor, a reporter for the Hill, a DC political newspaper observed "dozens of men and women wearing green media floor passes chanted along with the crowd" at Obama's speech last night.
Is it any surprise given how many elite media journalists are registered Democrats or how Obama's speech was almost universally hailed by TV reporters?
We'll be sending several NB bloggers to the RNC next week to keep an eye out for similar applauding. Don't worry, we won't be holding our breaths.

Look, it was probably
August 29, 2008 - 07:49 ET by motherbeltLook, it was probably amazing that when they went back to the studio Matthews and Oblermann weren't doing fist bumps, and hip bumps and end-zone dances!
Or were they? I didn't watch any of it.

August 29, 2008 - 07:54 ET by Lee BoggsIt was expected considering how they lost their minds at the black journalists conference. They are obviously not objective, fair or balanced. They should all be fired.
Olbermann and Matthews trade cards
August 29, 2008 - 07:58 ET by Mica the MagnificentI'm surprised fist fights didn't break out over leftist bubble gum trading cards:
Matthews: I'll trade you two Karl Marx' for one Barack.
Olbermann: Na. But I WILL trade you a Hillary and a Stalin for a Pelosi and a Reid.
Matthews: But I need a Barack. I wore out the one I have.
Olbermann: I know what you mean. I wore out a Biden for the same, ahem, reason.

Appluading
August 29, 2008 - 08:34 ET by Copperhead RidgeI sometimes double as a free-lance sports columnist. It's not my real profession, but I occassionally will write stories for local publications. Trust me, there's no glamour to it, and it's all very goofy.
Generally, I write about basketball and sometimes sit on press row at the side of the court. I sometimes cover my favorite teams (college and high school). There is an unspoken rule that journalists are to never cheer at the side of the court.
If a jackleg sportswriter can abide by that rule, then I expect the high falutin' journalists of the national news media to abide by it, even in politics.
Is anyone else surprised
August 29, 2008 - 08:35 ET by Hunter12Is anyone else surprised that Chrissy didn't burst into flames about 5 minutes into the Obama speech? I really thought he'd spontaneously combust. Four nights of tingles down his leg must have left him drained.
