'Morning Joe': With Fox Feud, Administration Really 'Playing' Rest of Media

  • Bookmark and Share

And you thought President Obama just didn’t like Glenn Beck. According to MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, the administration’s repeated attacks on Fox News are an attempt to send a message to the rest of the news media: “Fox isn’t a real news organization, so the stories it generates aren’t real news.”

The Oct. 21 “Morning Joe” reported on an exchange yesterday (noted on Newsbusters by Noel Sheppard) between ABC Chief White House Correspondent Jake Tapper and White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs, in which Tapper asked whether it was “appropriate” for the administration to be deciding what news organizations are legitimate.

“I think Jake Tapper was onto what we got onto yesterday morning, because we’ve been having this debate: ‘Does this make sense for them to shoot down at Fox News?’” said host Joe Scarborough. “No it doesn’t if your target’s Fox News.”

But Fox, Scarborough said, is not the target. “The White House isn’t attacking Fox news to attack Fox News. They’re playing the media. They’re saying ‘Please, don’t follow the ACORN stories. Don’t follow the Van Jones stories. Don’t follow any stories they bring up because they’re not a news organization.’”

The White House, Scarborough warned, needs to be careful because there could be “a big pushback.”

Guest Katty Kay of BBC World News America also questioned the strategy, saying that it might be a short-term sop to Obama’s left-wing base, but it may end up alienating the independent voters that helped elect the president.

Despite disagreement from co-host Mika Brzezinski, guest Mike Barnicle echoed Scarborough’s take. “What they’re really trying to do,” he said, “is have the editorial pages from the Times and reporters from the post sit there and think ‘You know we’re not gonna follow that story cause it came out of Fox.’ That’s not going to happen.”

No no no, god please no

MSNBC is defending Fox News?

Oh no.

God please no.

I don't want monkeys to fly out of my ass!  I'm sorry for all the times I said that!  And airliners are going to start hitting all those pigs flying around.  This is going to be a nightmare!

Mika the hypocrite

Did anyone catch the part where Mika started preaching about how Fox isn't really news and Scarborough started arguing with her? At one point she whispers "be quiet Chris", but Chris wasn't on the panel. So, I assume Matthews was feeding her things to say.

Dronetek: From The Source

http://www.liveleak....

She was probably talking to

She was probably talking to the producer, Chris Licht (sp?) who was in her ear.....more interestingly earlier on, they descibed the exchange between Jake Tapper and Gibbs as "heated" and withing seconds Mika gets an email on her blackberry correcting her that its wasn't "heated" .... wow, a realtime Whitehouse edit button ... now THAT'S wierd.

Too late. There they fly

Know how to keep a Troll in suspense?  Ill tell ya in the morning.

No no no--flying monkeys

Too funny !!!

What a great way to start out this thread, and my day at the keyboard.

LMAO...

Nice, clever, like it!

I find it hilarious that

I find it hilarious that former conservative Joe Scarborough thinks that there is even a remote possibility that the media lap dogs would have the courage to pushback against the guy they helped to elect. Now if Obama decided to take on CNN the wagons would be circled immediatley and all hell would break loose on the white house, they wouldn't know what hit them. They are very safe using their current strategy. The rest of the MSM will see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil as long as it's Fox in the cross hairs

Courage is not the absence of fear, it's the mastery of it.

Holy cow! Joe could have had a V8!!

Did it just occurred to Joe that maybe anyone who disagrees with this Administration ends up on their  %&6* list !

"Mika's Hate Comment"

I watched this and Scarborough nailed the reason why, one of the few times I can take his "analysis".

Mika of course agreed with the White House "spin" on this because of the "hate speech" that comes from Fox.

You could tell that Scarborough had all to do to refrain himself from saying the obvious "Mika, do you watch this network in primetime?

I have three facts I am positive of:

1. Mika has never watched Fox, Beck, O'Reilly or Hannity

2. Has never watched MSNBC, Schultz, Matthews, Olberman,  Maddow

3.  Just parrots the Fox is hate line, thus getting the "pat on the head that Brit Hume spoke about.

Mika's pretty, but

Critical thinking is not one of Mika's strong suits.  She reminds me of "that" girl in high school who would self-righteously turn in anyone who did something she decided was against the rules.  She's always arrogant and self-righteous and I keep expecting her to preface every sentence with, "My daddy says..."

You mean

You mean like Judy on 'Leave it to Beaver'? Not looks-wise, but definitely obnoxious-wise!

Leave it to Beaver

LOL - Oh, yes! Judy!  I had forgotten all about her. They knew how to write sit-coms back then....hasn't been anything close to it (quality wise) in so-o-o-o long!!!

Mika's utter hypocrisy with "hate" comment

You are right on mad53pa, you can tell Joe was dying to scream at the top of his lungs to her "what do you think our network does in primetime every single night you idiot?!!!  Joe's not perfect, but we do have to give him credit as the only voice on that network who points out the liberal bias and hypocrisy of the left on a regular basis.  I actually thought Mika has been pretty fair for a liberal, but she's way off the hypocrisy chart on this Fox story.

fox

The other networks should be nervous. They could be next. They are already being manipulated. Remember, it is a free press. The whitehouse doesn't believe that.

Speaking of

other networks and MSNBC.. See TVNEWSER link.

http://www.mediabist...

They are already being manipulated.

Very true, as long as the WH attacks Fox then they will be-careful not to encourage their wrath

Let's see real reporter courage

Early on I felt sorry for Gibbs because he was so obviously uncomfortable when he had to lie.  He appears to be getting more comfortable.

I'm waiting for someone to ask him about CNN and MSNBC - Don't they also have a "perspective"?  If RG answers "no," the appropriate response is uncontrollable laughter.  If RG answers "yes," the real discussion is on!

\I wasn't aware any of the other news organizations were following these stories, or anything else uncovered by Fox News.

The No Fox Challenge

I wonder if Mika, Joe or any other old media types are willing to mak ethe "No Fox Pledge" -- and promise never to work for FOX even if it means unemployment.

Jake Tapper deserves much

Jake Tapper deserves much credit here. If there was ever any doubt about big media being in the tank for this administration, their silence should remove that doubt forever.

Media Lapdogs?

You guys are giving them way to much credit, they are Pocket Poodles at best.

I herby sincerly apologize to all the scared to death tiny little rat dogs and want to point out that even you have more courage than the majority of so called journalists infesting our country.

The Pocket Poodle Media is just about done, wonder what Oberpoodle will do when they close down MSNBC, go to work for Iran?

Fox

When the acorn s--- hit the fan one of the young guys I work with said he got in a argument with his dad. His dad said I don't know what your talking about ,Katie never said anything about that.

I said if I was you I'd tell my dad if you watch Fox for a week and think it is unfair I'll cut your grass next week. He laughed and called his dad who agreed to the deal. He said his dad told him to cut the grass the next week.he shrugged ok at least you tried, his dad said, oh I still watch Fox News I just figure you owe me a grass cutting

That reminds me of an

That reminds me of an arguement I had with a lib friend of mine, he is an ecconomics teacher (god help the kids).   His motto is tax more, spend even more.  I challenged him to listen to Rush  at least one hour a day for a week, he said "if I do that you have to watch...........wait for it...... Bill 'has to pay for it' Maher." I said no worries, cause I haven't had tv for over 10 years. Thing is that if Maher was the only person he could send me to to try and turn me, just showed he was more demented than I thought

just showed he was more

just showed he was more demented than I thought

Sad part about this is he probably thought the same about you.  Anyone who likes Mahr and watches regulary is too far gone.

how many more will stand with Jake

that will determine where, and how far, this will go.

When the press becomes part of the problem ...

The best thing that is coming out of this is that "reporters" and "news agencies" now have to consciously make decisions not to cover news harmful to the Obama administration lest they incur their wrath and be lumped with Fox.

This goes against the grain of anyone who seriously wants to be considered a journalist, no matter his or her bias. It's one thing to convince yourself you're reporting objectively, but NOT reporting something because it makes you unpopular with the powers-that-be is selling out, something that should cause you eternal shame and disgrace.

Makes perfect sense if you`re a lib.  It would mean, for example, the A-porn scandal was`nt real news,,,it never happened, so why report on it.

Something tells me this one

Something tells me this one isn't going to go to well for the White House. Here's is what they are saying. "You are so stupid we can control you. And you're so stupid we can even tell you how we are doing it and you won't mind because we are very clever and you are so stupid…" Muse wrote a story about this over on the Blix America Blog.

It's amazing....

Medal time

Lets give Jake Tapper a bronze star for bravery. If the American people are smart enough to figure out what Gibbs was saying, there will be an awakening. Maybe the alphabet media will then cover that story. Ya think?

Rush and Beck may also be in line for awards. They both sound like they have crystal balls. They both predicted this stuff last year.

That they did...and very few paid any attention.

People will wake up...I just pray it isn't too late when they do.

If the White House doesn't

If the White House doesn't have the balls to take Major Garrett's press pass from him, they should just shut up,

Thursday morning MSNBC lies on Morning Joe

1.  Barnicle--Shinseki was fired by Rumsfeld for arguing about the number of troops needed for Iraq.  The truth of course was that Shinseki had already submitted his retirement paperwork and wasn't fired from anything.

2. Some no name guy--The Bush/Cheny regime's rush to war in Iraq after 9/11.  Again, the truth is that there were 18 months between 9/11 and the liberation of Iraq, not to mention of course the 17 or so resolutions from the darling organization of the Left, the United Nations, and the 12 years or screwing around with Hussein after Gulf War I.

What a shame it is to be so willingly ignorant and stupid.

Re Shinseki

Thanks for the review of history.  The nonsense about Shinseki lives on with the liberals and will never die. Look where the Bamster stuck him if you want to know what the real opinion of him in the US military is. Even as head of the VA, he's at his level of incompetence.

The more obama & the white house push the citizens, calling us all sorts of names, the more we want these two faced bigots out of office. If not for Fox, we would still be giving money to Acorn. The white house is just as corrupt as Acorn. Otherwise, they would be a bigger investigation into it.
