ABC Shocker: ‘Good Morning America’ Hires Pro-Abstinence Steve Harvey for ‘Lifestyle’ Segments

In a surprising move, the network that brought you “objectum sexuals,” “the pregnant man,” sugar daddies, transvestites and a whole array of sexual deviants has hired an unambiguously pro-abstinence voice for its morning show.

Reuters reported on August 17 that “Comedian Steve Harvey has joined ABC's ‘Good Morning America’ as a contributor for the next several months.” Harvey, an actor, comic and syndicated radio host, is the author of “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” an advice book for women.

As the Culture & Media Institute reported in April, Harvey maintains that women shouldn’t be quick to have sex when dating, and that they should wait 90 days to “give up the cookie.” While that may seem like common sense, for ABC it’s downright radical.

In reporting on the announcement, New York Daily News TV Editor Richard Huff wrote that Harvey’s “also been an outspoken advocate for communities to get behind children without fathers and in urging young men to show responsibility.”

So....

...I see ABC has decided to try and kill two birds with one stone.....hiring a token Black with some conservative views. I thought such actions were against their official policy....after all, can they afford to allow their dwindling viewership to know that not ALL blacks are living on the plantation?

Ummmmm....

...Wow!  No kidding?  Although I don't generally agree with Steve Harvey's comedy (recent comments about Miley Cyrus comes to mind) I was not aware that he had the opinion of waiting 90 days instead of dropping your pants on the first night.  Good for him!  Now as for ABC?  Who fell asleep at the wheel on that one?

You can bet whoever it was

You can bet whoever it was has probably been disciplined.  I mean, we wouldn't want it to seem like ABC's a right-wing network now would we?

As for Steve Harvey, meh.  He seems like a moderate conservative (re: acceptable conservative), although I do agree with some of his views.  The real shocker would be if they had hired Bill Cosby.

Why choose the lesser of two evils?

I'm glad there are men like

I'm glad there are men like Mr. Harvey who are beginning to speak sense with regard to societal issues, but let's be serious.  Wait 90 days?!  What's pivotal about the 3-month mark?  Are most relationships in the black community so short-lived that this is a reasonable standard for reducing the number of illegitimate births?  If you're going to be a lightning rod, you've got to stand up tall.  Tell 'em to wait for marriage, Steve.

As for ABC, they just prove that there's no logic in TV programming.  It's all about getting the adbucks.

I don't know how this is a

I don't know how this is a pro-abstinence message, unless the pro-abstinence movement has changed from no sex before marriage to no sex before a committed relaionship. I must've missed that but I do agree with that message.

And how is waiting 90 days "downright radical" to ABC? It's a reasonable time to prove commitment to your partner. Do you think everyone that doesn't believe in waiting till marriage to have sex just believes in having sex as soon as possible, no matter the circumstances?

If the new abstinence movement is teaching kids to wait 90 days with their partner, then I'm all for it.
