Big Three Nets Ignore Rep. Carson's Lynching Smear of Tea Party

Representative Andre Carson's inflammatory attack on the Tea Party has yet to have receive any attention from the Big Three networks. As reported by Politico on Wednesday, Rep. Carson accused Tea Party-friendly members of Congress of wanting to bring back Jim Crow and went so far to accuse his colleagues of wanting to bring back lynching: "Some of them...would love to see you and me...hanging on a tree."

Jake Sherman's report for Politico noted that the "explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the Internet Tuesday, and Carson's office stood by the remarks." The Blaze, a website run by Glenn Beck, uploaded a video compilation onto YouTube on Tuesday morning which included the Indiana Democrat's smear of the Tea Party. Carson attacked the Tea Party immediately after complimenting Congressional Black Caucus Chair Rep. Emanuel Cleaver at a CBC town hall in Miami on August 22:

[Video compilation embedded below the jump]

REP. ANDRE CARSON, (D), INDIANA: Under Chairman Emanuel Cleaver's leadership, we have seen change in Congress...the Tea Party is stopping that change. And this is beyond symbolic change. This is the effort that we're seeing of Jim Crow. Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second-class citizens. (audience members reply, "Yes!") Some of them in Congress right now of this Tea Party would love to see you and me...hanging on a tree. (audience members reply, "Yes!") Some of them right now in Congress are comfortable with where we were 50 and 60 years ago.

None of the Big Three networks evening programs on Tuesday- ABC's World News, CBS Evening News, or NBC Nightly News- covered Rep. Carson's snipe at the Tea Party. The following morning, none of their morning show covered it either.

By contrast, these networks were quick to go after Rep. Joe Wilson after his infamous "you lie!" outburst at President Obama on September 9, 2009. Within 24 hours, then-CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric highlighted the "congressman last night calling a President an outright liar to his face" and stated that this was "just the latest indication of how ugly the debate over reforming health care has gotten." On NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams trumpeted "the outburst heard 'round the world," as correspondent Kelly O'Donnell played up the "stunning outburst" and the "fit of anger" displayed by Rep. Wilson. ABC World News's tease of their story on the Republican's outburst used an almost identical line: "the shout heard 'round the world."

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

One wonders how long it will take ABC, CBS, or NBC to cover Rep. Carson's smear, if at all.

So less government = lynchings. This guy has paranoid delusions. Actually it's worse than that, he is trying to incite paranoid delusions in others.

for Race-baiting Marxist Democrats who rob us, spread our wealth, and keep their peeps eating from the government feed trough ... less government = FINANCIAL lynching. The best way for the PIGs to avoid the lynching is to get a job and quit relying us producers to reward their stupidity and slothfulness! Drug test them and eliminate 75% of the PIGs from the dole!

Absolutely right, Beukeboom!! Al Sharpton sets the black community back 50 years each time he opens his mouth. I have an African American friend, and he tells me all the time that Al Sharpton doesn't represent him or his family. He can't stand him. I'm sure he's not alone.

is nothing but laughable Democrat propaganda.

Rep. Carson, I would bet  my next month's lunch money that, if you got right into their heads, you'd find more Democrats in Congress that would like to see you hanging from a tree than Tea Partiers of similar mind.  Yours is the party of Robert "KKK" Byrd and Albert J. Gore, Sr., who voted against every civil rights measure that went before the Senate.  Yours is the party of Affirmative Action, lifetime welfare, and the soft bigotry of low expectations.  Yours is the party that promotes handouts to keep African Americans voting in line and beholden to the party, instead of getting the hell out of the way and letting every American learn, earn, and succeed to their potential.  Your views, your theories, and your rhetoric are pathetic.

You are absolutely spot on with your analysis of Carson, except you left one very important point about his views and theories. His one of the most RACIST Congressman in the House.

Ignorance and desperation.

Submitted by BoilerFan on Wed, 08/31/2011 - 8:53pm.

Playing the race card is not only a sign of "ignorance," it's a sign of desperation. The liberal agenda put forth by Obama, Reid & Pelosi has failed miserably, millions of Americans are hurting and are frustrated with their "leaders" in Washington, D.C., and those on the left--black and white alike--are desperate to point the finger of blame for THEIR failures at anyone other than the person they see in the mirror every morning.

The real racists are the Congressional Black Caucus. They hate white people just because of the color of their skin. They would hang white people from trees if they thought they would get away with it. They really really HATE white people.

So why does the MSM not call them racist? We know why. The MSM is just another arm of the racist democrat party.

I hope Congressman West tells the CBC, during their next gathering, to take their extremist, race-baiting organization and "shove it where the sun don't shine." He's too good for this backward-looking organization. It's a group that sees anyone who doesn't share their pseudo-socialistic agenda as the modern day equivalent of George Wallace (a Democrat, BTW) standing in the school doorway or Bull Connor (another Democrat) ordering his goons to beat back non-violent black protestors with nightsticks and water hoses. These clowns have no sense of proportion.

Submitted by mtdavs on Wed, 08/31/2011 - 1:00pm.

Yes, these comments are HORRIBLE!! Only trouble is, the closer we get to the elections, I'm afraid these types of comments are only going to get worse and more of them. The left has nothing to argue regarding so-called "accomplishments". So, this is all they can do. Smear and blast their opponents as best they cay. As I stated, I'm afraid we "ain't" seen, nor heard, notin' yet.

You know it, Boom.

Submitted by drsamherman on Wed, 08/31/2011 - 9:23pm.

Already, I am hearing a lot of noise coming from a few friends that know some of the local La Raza chapters here in Texas. They plan on hitting the streets with a full blown strategy against the Tea Party and conservatives in general. Even more virulent than what we are hearing, I will bet the rhetoric will be within a millimeter of what I would commit patients to psychiatric evaluation for under different circumstances.

This is just unbelievable. I know I have ranted here before, and I apologize for doing it again, but I need to get this out: Democrats have been taking the Latino vote for granted for years. Now that they see serious opposition from organizations that uncover and point out their appalling behavior, they are going after everybody who disagrees with them. Goddam it! I am a native-born citizen as is my wife and all of my children. We are all educated and working within licensed professions. We are contributing citizens just trying to do the right thing, and now we have heard consistently from the Democrat party that we are "out of the mainstream" and therefore have no right to say what we believe. We pay our taxes, we vote consistently and we fulfill our civic obligations by participating in juries and serving our clients/patients in practice of our professions. We volunteer through multiple organizations and we do so to make this a better world and then we are told we don't follow their party line so we are marginalized by the Democrats. My father and mother, and my parents-in-law were fantastic people and dedicated Republicans who believed in free enterprise, personal liberty and personal responsibility but they were ostracized by their own communities for daring to have their own opinions. My wife, my children and I are all life-long Republicans because they not only made us feel welcome, but they want to hear our voices and they care about what we have to say. The Democrats do not give a damn about those who they purport to serve. The dirtiest campaigns in Texas history have all been from Democrats, and you need to look only at Ann Richards and her bitterness over not being re-elected. She acted like some clueless, ancient royalty because she felt she was entitled to re-election. Voters saw right through her (when Ann wasn't guzzling down from a bottle of gin) and she was tossed out on her ear. I will not allow Latino conservatives to be held hostage by the stereotypes perpetuated by the Democrats any longer. My family's voices WILL be heard and will be heard STRONGLY in this next election. Perry may not be perfect, but right now he is doing one damn fine job in Texas keeping us afloat through this storm.

Thank you for allowing me to rant yet again.

The pity is that if MSM would

Submitted by Kenyon Schraeder on Wed, 08/31/2011 - 1:24pm.

The pity is that if MSM would simply start calling out politicians and celebrities who launch vile and heated rhetoric and who play the race card as a last resort, things may {wishful thinking?} actually improve to where MSM could showcase legitimate dialogue and dissent among the players, letting the chips fall where they may.

Instead, they sit on their hands and whistle nervously, obviously terrified that if they stand up for decency and decorum instead of political affiliation, they'll be ostracized or worse, picketed by Al Sharpton and his gang of thugs.

So, as a Nation, we can only look forward to more baseless accusations and inflammatory rhetoric.
