The anchor began the segment by summarizing his attack on the Fox News Channel from the September 18 edition of Newsroom, and then dropped his hint that his competitor was not a genuine news outlet: “Real news organizations- real news organizations- are not supposed to stage events, nor should they promote news events, nor should they hype news events. Otherwise, they lose their ability to be impartial. They’re no longer even remotely objective if they do that, nor are they being ‘fair and balanced.’”
After noting how a “pudgy-faced” Fox News anchor (he never specifically used Beck’s name during the segment) “used his radio show to tell people to go to these rallies,” Sanchez played a clip of a correspondent from the Rupert Murdoch-owned network who reported live from the Tea Party during a special edition of Beck’s TV show. He then pointed out the behind-the-scenes Fox News producer who “raise[d] her arms to get the crowd to hoop and howl on command” while the correspondent gave his report.
While Sanchez pointed out how Fox News apparently isn’t “remotely objective,” the anchor didn’t raise any objections when former CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen lashed out on-camera at Tea Party protesters at an April 15 rally in Chicago. Sanchez must think that CNN retains its status as a “real news organization” even when one of his colleagues loses her “ability to be impartial,” as Roesgen clearly did when she labeled the Tea Party “not really family viewing” and how it was being “highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox.”The transcript of the relevant portion of the segment, which began 42 minutes into the 3 pm Eastern hour of Monday’s Newsroom:
RICK SANCHEZ: When I said Friday that we covered the Tea Party rally in Washington, it was only because Fox News had taken out a full-page ad in The Washington Post telling millions of people that we didn’t cover the rally- and that was a lie, and lies should be exposed. And here’s something else that should be exposed. Real news organizations- real news organizations- are not supposed to stage events, nor should they promote news events, nor should they hype news events. Otherwise, they lose their ability to be impartial. They’re no longer even remotely objective if they do that, nor are they being ‘fair and balanced.’ Case in point again: Fox News, and that’s where we begin ‘Fotos [del Dia].’SANCHEZ (voice-over): This is the pudgy-faced anchor, like me- who, by the way, is not a journalist- not like me- who has used his radio show to tell people to go to these rallies. This is the news reporter who says the protestors are- among others- doctors. But wait, here’s the best part. This is the producer who tells the crowd when to cheer at a rally. Watch as she raises her arms to get the crowd to hoop and howl on command at a news event- keyword, news. Now, for your viewing pleasure, here it is all together.
GLENN BECK: Fox’s Griff Jenkins is there now in Washington, D.C.
GRIFF JENKINS, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: They’re old, they’re young, they’re black, they’re white, they’re male, they’re female, they’re farmers, they’re miners, they’re doctors.
SANCHEZ: And more- Fox News says the producer in question will be disciplined. As for my request that they apologize for lying about CNN not covering the story, still no apology, though a Fox executive did say I was a ‘sucker.’ Not quite sure exactly what that means, but I’m still waiting for that apology.

I hear Stu & Pat Grey going after Glenn for being fat all the time, on his own show. They also give him crap about things like cake, twinkies, ice cream, & other fatty foods. They did that today in fact. It all very funny. As for Sanchez, his low ratings are very funny.
Remember, if it's not 140 characters or less, Rick has problems with it. The other thing Sanchez should keep in mind, the root word in "Twitter" is TWIT. Rick is too involved with "Twitter" to actually engage in same actual journalism. You say you are a journalist Rick, start reporting the news, you jack@$$.

Rick needs the short course in Journalism 101
September 21, 2009 - 18:45 ET by pbthinkerHey Rick, real news organizations don't sent reporters out to rallies and then start repeating administration progaganda to the ralliers. Real news organizations don't have the hired help calling protesters "tea baggers". Real news organizations are willing to hold the powerful accountable not trying to degrade those who actually are. Real news organizations can't be pigeonholed as liberal or conservative, they just report the news. Real news organizations are told by this administration they won't be coming to their Sunday show because they're afraid they're going to be asked the tought questions.
Alas, the Obama Administration had no problem coming to CNN for their token questions and otherwise love fest treatment, on Sunday.
Oh, by the way, one more thing, real news organizations don't hire people like Rick Sanchez.

The entire raison
September 21, 2009 - 18:48 ET by Pancho SanzaThe entire raison d'etre of journalism is no longer to be informed - to acquire well furnished information and familiarize oneself with the events of the day - but to become stupid by elevating a means to an end.
This is where CNN and MSNBC come through in spades: resorting to name-calling. Heaven forbid they should challenge anyone on FOX in an intelligence or a sense of humor contest without having to invoke something stupid, sexual, or scatalogical.
Beck, like Groucho Marx, hits opponents with wit and with self-deprecating humor. Something Sanchez, et. al., could never do because they lack the brains, the balls, and the ambition to even have a sense of humor.

The use of the
September 22, 2009 - 09:32 ET by MazziThe use of the "pudgy-faced" comment seems to be yet another example of media "talking points". If you recall, in the Time Magazine article, the author referred to Beck as "the pudgy, buzz-cut, weeping phenomenon of radio, TV and books."
I caught it there, because it occurred to me that the left can't seem to HELP but categorize people, and do it in a vaguely demeaning way if the object of the article is not a lib.
So, saying "pudgy" is to make sure the audience knows he is "fat" (fat people are not as good as thin people, right?) and buzz-cut lets the viewer know that the guy is either a hillbilly, or a neo-nazi - right? ((Code-words, people - the left LOVES code-words!))
So, now we have that other phenonenom - the media "parrot". I love it when Rush does his montages of the lefties using the buzz-words. Well, Mr. Sanchez is starting it, apparently.
What difference does Beck's appearance make? All we are interested in is his thoughts. But the left can't understand that even an iota.
AND, I would hardly consider Beck "fat", or even pudgy. But then, I don't focus on what people look like.

September 22, 2009 - 14:11 ET by slickwillie2001Interesting yes. I've noticed that BOR regularly has Beck on, but I don't see BOR ever stooping as he would see it to appear on Beck's show. BOR sees himself as the big dog on Fox News. Truth is, in a better time slot Beck would crush BOR.
There's also an interesting dynamic between BOR and Cavuto. You can see the frustration in Cavuto in dealing with the thick-headed BOR. Cavuto knows business and economics and BOR is totally out of his element there. Cavuto is like a physicist trying to teach a four-year old. Don't know why he bothers.

Actually, I think O'Reilly tries too hard to be fair, Beck does'nt hide what he believes & is more willing to be more "out there" then most other cable hosts. Beck is doing damage to Obama's credability, & he is a threat to the political left, he just does it in a class-clown sort of way.

Real journalists do not behave in a partisan manner

Hey Sanchez, how about
September 23, 2009 - 07:14 ET by BenderHey Sanchez, how about looking in the CNN mirror first.
CNN is a 'real news organization' that has admitted that it self censors news on Cuba in order to maintain a bureau in Havanna.

Eason Jordan, a chief news executive at CNN, covering up 'Maniac' Saddam's atrocities in order to keep access to Iraq.
Lets not forget CNN also was so biased during the Clinton adminstration in covering for the president that it was nicknamed the "Clinton News Network".
A well-known CNN reporter, Richard Quest, had been arrested in New York's
Central Park with drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that
was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy inside his boot.
Or who could forget CNN's Peter Arnett, Saddam personal friend, inventing a story about US troops using nerve gas in Vietnam. This resulted in multiple producers being fired from CNN and an apology from CNN News Group Chairman Tom Johnson to Vietnam vets.
I could go on and on about the daily journalistic malpractice at CNN but you get the point.
