Politico: GOP Challengers Are 'Mediocrities', Obama Is 'Rested And Ready'

By Mark Finkelstein | January 03, 2012 | 12:54

A  A

The folks at Politico take umbrage when accused of leaning left. But once again, the site's headlines give away Politico's Dem-friendly game.

Compare these contrasting gems from today's edition, the first dismissing the GOP contenders as mediocre, the other using the old "rested and ready" cliché to describe President Obama as the campaign season begins in earnest:

On the one hand, disparages the GOP challengers: as "Iowa's field of mediocrities", dismissing them "way too small for the occasion".  On the other, try this one on for size: "Rested and Ready, Obama  Returns".

Nuff said.

90 rounds

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 1:51pm.

You realize that he's played 90 rounds but the time on his game never decreased below 5.5 hours?  That means his game playing STILL sucks, it's never improved, which means he doesn't care what anyone says but himself when it comes to playing.(someone wanting to improve his game would be willing to listen to advice/tips on playing)

If he had actually gotten any better at the game, as much as he plays, his playing time would have come down to at least 4 hours(that's an average for 4 people with average skill of golf, which he doesn't have).  So like everything else, he sucks.  And this is true on everything he does.

What was it someone said about him, he's unwilling to be flexible, rigid, whatever and that's about how he handles everything he does?

That could be...I wonder if he's like Clinton...

and takes mulligans left and right...It wouldn't surprise me. I'd love to see these two play together...that would be something to behold...I wonder who would outcheat the other?

As for how much time Obama takes to play a round, it could be that he does still suck at it, as you said, and/or, he just takes his sweet time...Never mind that he's tying up the course for everyone else....With the Narcissist-in Chief, that type of thinking would be typical.

Either way....

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:22pm.

There's just no getting away with it, he sucks.  He sucks in SO many ways, I can't think of ONE thing that redeems of him of the fact that he sucks.

One of the WORST people EVER to be in the WH in this country's history.  EVER!

That's only beaten by the fact that so many people were idiotic enough to vote for him.

jon...No argument there...

Submitted by PrairieSky on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:37pm.

I'm with you on that.

It really does amaze at how inept and unsuited Obama is for being president...It's kind of like looking at those photos where you try to find what doesn't belong? I used to think Clinton was like that, and still do, but Obama has supplanted him in that regard. We've had some bad and inept presidents before, but Obama is I think, to date, the worst of them all and the sooner he's gone, the better for the country. I just hope that the misguided fools who voted for him in '08 have wised up and won't make the same colossal mistake twice...I shudder to think what 4 more years of Obama could be like. The one thing that might lessen the damage that he could do is if the Repubs take control of the Senate, and keep the House-That should keep Obama pretty well tied up in knots for 4 years, although he could still manage to back door some things, but hopefully the Repubs could try to stop or lessen the impact of that. We'll see.

lessened damage

Submitted by Schofield Kid on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 5:29pm.

You're right that control of congress would keep him from passing major bills, but just think of the damage he can do with EPA, DOE and other regulations. But even worse in my opinion is four years to appoint left wing judges and God forbid even one or two Supreme Court justices which could destroy this country. Just think of a majority with the likes of Sotomayer, Kagan and Ginsburg. Not to mention the Executive Orders and recess appointments he can ruin the country with. Anything but total defeat of the Man-child and his administration is disaster for this country!

That's what I meant when I said that he could still "back door"

Submitted by PrairieSky on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 10:25pm.

things...He's already done that type of thing, and I fully expect him to continue that type of garbage if he's re-elected, and he will likely be much bolder in doing so. As for the SCOTUS, yeah, he could do more damage there as well, if given the opportunity.

Like you, I'm not interested in just trying to contain Obama...I want to defeat Obama...I want him gone.

I know I'm prejudiced as all

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 4:03pm.

I know I'm prejudiced as all hell - but NOT racially - so I'll admit that my assessment of Boy Barry must be taken in that light. But, as a person, I'd have to say that the guy is a wimp, a creep, a weakling, a poser (in SO many different ways)......and, as I've said before, I can't call him a pathological liar ((like der Schlickmeister), because I think that his whole LIFE has been a lie, so to him it's reality and the truth. Plus, his arrogance, conceit, and narcissism are unprecedented in the anals of US Presidential history, much less any other history!!! And, NO, that was NOT a spelling error!!!

I think Clinton would take Boy Barry to the cleaners on the golf course, or just about anywhere else - and show L'il Barry just who really WAS the first 'black' President. He was right when he said that, a few years ago, Barry would be bringing them coffee.

Obama takes

Submitted by misterbee241 on Wed, 01/04/2012 - 12:44pm.

so long to play a round of golf, not just because he's a lousy player, but he has nobody behind him playing down his back. I am not a good golfer, not even mediocre. But i finish a round in less than four hours because there's always somebody behind me waiting. But when you have numerous "private" owned courses like Barack does, and you're the only guy on that course, then you can take your time. And with all that, he's still a hacker.

The only thing he has accomplished is to create chaos in America.
Create an atmosphere of hate and discontent.
Insult the intelligence of every thinking American in the country.
Sell the American people and their interest out.
He has failed to defend even basic American values.
Broken the Constitutional requirements of law by exceeding his authority.
Provided illegal payments to his friends and supporters from the taxpayer.
Failed to create a single viable policy in three years.

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:04pm.

I guess that's what they call someone who isn't a "progressive" which is someone who bastardized the word progress by being ANTI-Progress and trying to revert things bass-ackwards to before the Constitution, or something anti-American like the Communist/Socialist ideals they are trying to make this country embrace.

I still can't understand why people don't seem to have a problem with Ear Leader associating someone who wants to kill 25 million Americans.(for those of you in Rio Linda, that's Bill Ayers, someone REALLY extreme)

Obama is ready???

Submitted by NVRAT on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 2:31pm.

He has been campaigning since he was elected in 2008. He sure as hell has not been doing his job as President. I guess that's why he has 225 staffers (somebody has got to do the job). This guy is a joke as President but very cunning and deliberate as 2012 gets closer he will drift closer to the center like Bill Clinton and then if he gets re-elected he will go all the way to the left and, that will be the end of America as those of us that have been around for a long time know it. We will become a Socialist/Communists country with no Middle class and the rest of us will be on welfare and at the mercy of the Government. As of now, there are more Americans on food stamps and Government Assistance than there has ever been before so, say so long to the United States of America the greatest country in the history of mankind. Our forefathers warned us, prepared us and told us what would happen if we the people forgot what we were to do as a free people.

Yeah, RAT, and all the MSM is

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 2:39pm.

Yeah, RAT, and all the MSM is doing is hyping up how 'well-rested' and ready to go he is for the upcoming campaign, as well as continuing to degrade and debase any and all of the Republican candidates - except for maybe Romney - and we all know the reason for that!!

So neither Boy Barry OR the media is 'doing their job', although the MSM is on their kneepads, doing a 'job' on Barry, and Barry sure has hell has been doing a 'job' on the USA.

Did we hear ONE word about

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:09pm.

Did we hear ONE word about the death of L'il Kim, or our future dealings with North Korea, or the ongoing build-up in the Persian Gulf (I'm really glad that my son got out of there!!), or just about any other topic of substance or importance from Boy Barry the WHOLE time he was over here in Hawaii??? ONE WORD??? And now that the Royal Family - the Won, Won-Ton, and the kids - all I'm hearing about is how he'll be fresh and feisty going into the 2012 elections.

But you are right, ant - there continues to be a lot of insidious and stealth legislation and agenda designed to continue to take away more and more of our freedoms, and give the government more and more power. And somebody is doing this - and it sure as hell isn't Barry (although he is in agreement with it all) - I'd like to know who the 'real' backers of this whole scam are.

I'm glad your son got out of

Submitted by ant on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:43pm.

I'm glad your son got out of there too. And your right, this is the absentee President, voting 'present' all over again, just like the Senate, until it comes time for a campaign speech. Words...and un-Presidential, divisive words at that. He disgusts me, in every sense. And there are Republicans now in Congress that have earned my disgust as well. Where are their statements?, their fight is virtually non-existant, handing over Bills to Oblunder that only a leftist would approve of. The so-called conservative reps should be out there everyday calling out these policies, speaking 'truth to power', now they are 'going along to get along' again, as is typical. Most 'Republicans' don't show 1/50th of the courage that conservative blog authors, like here at NB, show. The damn 'Occupiers' have more testicular fortitude then those entrusted to put the Nation back on track in 2010. More and more, I think it's two-sides of the same coin, my friend, and it will be up to the People to ring in justice and common-sense.
