MSNBC Regular Dyson: Reaganism Imposed 'In Fascist Fashion'
logorrhea: excessive and often incoherent talkativeness or wordiness. -- Merriam Webster
When watching lefty professor and MSNBC regular Michael Eric Dyson, the notion often occurs to me that the man suffers from the condition described above. Just yesterday, as James Taranto noted in his Best of the Web column at WSJ online, Dyson digressed, during an MSNBC appearance, into a riff to the effect that Republicans are rejecting a debt ceiling increase out of . . . racism directed at President Obama.
Dyson was back at it on MSNBC today. Appearing on Al Sharpton's newly-awarded show in the 6 PM time-slot show, Dyson suggested that the philosophy of Ronald Reagan has been imposed on modern-day Republicans "in a fascist fashion."
View video after the jump.
Conservative panel member Josh Trevino, who had just described himself as being in the Reagan tradition, understandably took offense, incredulously inquiring: "a fascist fashion?"
Watch Dyson wax weirdly wordy once more.
AL SHARPTON: So Ronald Reagan was a bad president because he raised the taxes eleven times, so you and Grover would say, let's get away from Ronald Reagan's legacy.
. . .
JOSHUA TREVINO: I'm just going to wager, Al, that Grover Norquist and I are a bit more in the tradition of Ronald Reagan than anybody else here on this show at this moment.
MICHAEL ERIC DYSON: The point is, the point is, though, if you subscribe to an orthodoxy, if it's imposed in a kind of fascist fashion and one toes the line because you say you are legitimately faithful to that position --
TREVINO: A fascist fashion?
DYSON: The point is that, yeah, if Ronald Reagan did it --
TREVINO: In a fascist fashion?
DYSON: If Ronald Reagan is seen as the origin of the modern revolution within the Republican party, then you've got a contradiction going on here, Reverend Sharpton.

The Fascist Fashion
Submitted by HardRightTurn on Thu, 07/21/2011 - 9:39pm.
It is fashionable to throw the term fascist about as if you know what it means and how to use it. In this case, it is akin to a parent conjuring up images of the disapproving grandparent to control an unruly child. "Grandpa/Grandma wouldn't approve of you behaving this way."

The word "fascist" itself sounds bad. People eat it up. It's meaning in the context of it being used to describe someone or something negatively doesn't matter. Just toss it out there and the sheep will graze on it.
I would bet Dyson doesn't even know what fascism is.

To him, it's probably just a buzzword he picked up from Jay Carney's daily propaganda teleconference.
The only thing missing from his performance are the strings coming from his predictable Democrat political marionette act. He's today's Howdy Doody for MNSBC.
QUOTE OF THE CENTURY, MAYBE EVEN THE MILLENNIUM

(Borrowed from a friends's email)
Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic . Someone over there has it figured out. We have a lot of work to do.
"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

It will be for it's clown value. The show got off to a flying start with a first class buffoon. Dyson needs to read at least something like "Fascism for Idiots" before throwing the word around. It is Progressivism and modern Liberalism that have roots in Fascism.

Submitted by adamsmith on Sat, 07/23/2011 - 11:05am.
This is proof positive that the right doesn't use talking points they get on circulated memos, which is exactly what the left accuses the right of doing, and does themselves all day long. It's their M.O. I just have to wonder, for example I heard every talking head(especially Debbie Wasserman Parrot, who said it ten times in seven minutes on some show) how many times and by how many Obama media co-conspirators used the phrase, "The Republicans will end Medicare as we know it." There had to have been 30 news anchors spread over seven or eight channels that used the same phrase over and over to indoctrinate the public(ie. Tell a lie often enough....)
I wish all Republicans and Conservatives would get this memo: Progressivism is the American version of Mussolini and Hitler's fascism. Hitler was reading Woodrow Wilson's books to get a better handle on using propaganda, Progressive style. I watched in horror as that Brit Twit Piers Morgan accused the right of being right wing(as in Fascism) and Ann Coulter never said anything, TWICE!!!! From now on when ANY Moonbat uses the words Fascist, Reich Winger, Racist Stormtrooper or any other talking point terminology that accuses the Right of colluding with all things Fascist, simply remind said Moonbat of Nazism, which was short for National SOCIALIST German Workers Party. They own Fascism lock, stock, and two smoking barrels. 1984 and Brave New World were written about tyrannical governments that use Socialism to get there. I don't think Orwell, who oddly enough remained a Socialist, was referring to Free Market Laissez Faire Capitalism. Pretty sure he was writing about the end result of Socialism.....

Give me a break. When the Dems banded together and passed Obamacare on a strictly party-line vote, was that considered fascist? No, that was "historic". And Obamacare was a huge expansion of government, which is fascist, the opposite of what the Republicans are proposing, which is less government.
The libs are reminding me of children who don't get their way. Now that the Republicans are being the adults and holding firm against their out-of-control behavior, they are screaming "Fascist!" and "You hate me!" and if that doesn't work then "You're just MEAN!" They need to be sent to bed early.

It seems that I have been in debates with left wing socialists, they however wont admit it, that claim that Reagan was not conservative and a fascist. He would be too wishy washy to be elected by the current GOP electorate. The pick stuff from here and there and point to his tax record and even say he is pro abortion. They fail to look at his record as a whole and his speeches and letters and life. I have taken this tactic to be a Godwin's Law moment.

I'm an educated man, and he's always struck me as a guy who has a certain pathological inclination to be the most intelligent in the room...even though he's basically a blabbermouth fake. He uses big words, and he uses them fast. Maybe it's because of TV, I don't know. But I would think he's just irritating to anyone even nominally educated. I'm sure he impresses high school intellectuals (if there is such a thing), but flash doesn't equal intelligence. If you examine his positions carefully, he's just a typical leftist drone. Hey, Dyson might actually be an intelligent guy, but he'll have to tone down the "I'm just effing smarter than you" rhetoric, before I ever take him seriously. He reminds me of the worst professors I had in college, who thought we were all dumbasses before we could even submit a paper.
So no, it's not just you amy.

Now that is funny - you said what I started to type {"He uses big words, and he uses them fast."} but I couldn't phrase it right - I was afraid it would sound like I thought *I* was smarter than him!
I 1st saw him when I used to watch Bill Maher - back when Bill was more funny than partisan.
Dyson, along with other professors* who went on that show, would talk fast, use big words, sometimes mumbling them, and act like they were gracing you with their superior intellect. I tried to follow their reasoning at first, but while I comprehended those big words, I couldn't get past the mumbling!

Mumbling
Submitted by Truestar on Fri, 07/22/2011 - 9:11am.
Yup, there's a lot of mumbling on Maher's show. It's done live, so I can understand if it gets muddled. Some folks have rightly cancelled their HBO, but I keep it because I want to keep up on the likes of Maher and company. But God forbid if anyone spoke clearly and consicely on that show! The perfect show for frauds like Cornel West and Dyson. Good god, don't get me started on West LOL. Two peas in a pod! Mumbling and scatting big words is their livelihood. Doesn't impress me. People like them have no logical legs to stand on.
They're not unlike the likes of John Edwards....a lawyer who can dice and mince words to the point that he's taken seriously by the electorate for the VP nomination. It's a great scam if one can pull it off, but it's really not too difficult to expose them if people give it a try. In fact, Prez NoBama is the perfect example of a fraud that could have easily been taken down long ago. But such are the times.

Good point about it being live. I have hearing loss, and it drives me nuts to miss part of a sentence. I never listened to Edwards, but I've had the misfortune to hear Gore and Kerry speak, and they're East coast too, right? Are they lawyers too?
I think the Tea Party is also in reaction with these "baffle 'em with bs" types, and that explains the so called "boring" field of R's up for Pres.
Personally, I'm for replacing the ones up in congress over the Pres. since they really do the work/spend the $$$ and the Pres. is just a figurehead.

It is no wonder that our so-called educated class is so ignorant. With too many "professors" like this it is no wonder too many college grads are dumber after they get a degree then they were when they started college.
Al Sharpton is nothing but a lying racist shrill. Anyone who even pretends to listen to him must be insane. And giving him time on MSNBC is just proof positive that they are just another arm of the democRAT party.

Submitted by mattm on Fri, 07/22/2011 - 10:20pm.
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." - B.H. Obama, 2006
