Schultz Slurs Allen West: 'Ignorant'

By Mark Finkelstein | November 24, 2010 | 21:27

A  A

Pot calling the kettle clueless . . .

On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz twice called newly-elected Republican congressman Allen West  "ignorant."  For good measure, Schultz said West "didn't have a clue."

Schultz was incensed that West had observed that Washington, DC--home of big government--was relatively immune to the economic woes that have befallen the rest of the country.  View video after the jump.

By interesting coincidence, I had occasion to overfly Leesburg, VA in the DC suburbs this past weekend, and for the first time saw what McMansions look like [see photo I snapped after break].   Now why would Loudoun County, Virginia have the highest per-capita income in the country? Steel mills?

Watch Schultz slur a rising Republican star.

ED SCHULTZ: We saved a really turkey for you, just before Thanksgiving. The bigoted, Islamophobic, Congressman-elect Allen West of Florida.  This guy's got a history of offensive, ignorant statements.  Last Sunday on Meet The Press, well, once again showed us he doesn't have a clue what the heck he's talking about . . . Saying that Washington, DC is immune to lay-offs and foreclosures is ignorant psycho-talk.

SGT. Shitz is a racist

SGT. Shitz is a racist bastard. Col. West is a war hero, what are you? You better watch it. Col West is going to be the chair of the Badass Cacus in the House. These are those combat vets that won seats in the last election.

Don't know if race comes into this

Submitted by StarAZ on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 12:29pm.

But I sure know accuracy does--and West is not the ignorant one. All my friends on the East Coast think those of us in AZ and FL, to name two states, are whining--they are not hurting. A friend in NH--all is hunky dory there, he says... Yet out here we are still devastated and you hear"average people," as East Coasters like to call us, talk about the Fed's latest report of how this is all still bad and may get worse. Yes, while in the aisles of Walmart, they use the term "the Fed." We know about deflation now, underemployment, those soaring corporate profits (how nice for them), etc. So Special Ed here better listen up--he is the one in the wrong. Report the story, get out of your cubicle--and I don't mean some stupid trip to someone's backyard to spout platitudes or munch pastries.

I think 7 of the top 10 fastest-growing-richest counties in the country are ALL around DC, but don't quote me on that number. I have a brother who lives there........he's verified it!!! Of course, this has no bearing on the Sarge's idiotic statement. I've heard Allen West............and I've heard Sgt. Shultz..................do the math!!!!!

But..........that gal who told Boy Blunder that she was tired and exhausted of defending him just lost her job.............and she was 'black' AND a government employee!!! What's up with that???

And screwing the great state

Submitted by GregE on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 12:08am.

And screwing the great state of Virginia.  Liberal Northern VA is having huge influence on the rest of the state.  I guess this is part of the liberals plan to bring VA into the "swing state" category and eventually into a perennial automatic liberal vote?

I'll tell you how much things

Submitted by NL207 on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 9:27am.

I'll tell you how much things have changed in Northern Virginia, just in my lifetime.  I can remember as a boy when the intersection of the Leesburg Pike and Chainbridge road was governed by a stop sign.  That's right.  A stop sign.  Leesburg Pike was a two lane mcadam highway.  Chainbridge road was a dirt road ....   well, it was oiled, but it was still not real pavement.    Today Tyson's Corners is 8 lanes both ways.

I despise these imported Liberals destroying the traditions of Old Virginia.  Fairfax and Loudon Counties have been overrun by  Damn Yankees and illegal aliens.  Prince William County is also being affected because the decent people are being driven out of Manassas and Springfield and down 95 to Fredericksburg.

Maybe you don't know where

Submitted by killa37 on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 10:18pm.

Maybe you don't know where Sgt. Schultz came from.........because it only applies to the TV show that made the name famous. It was called 'Hogan's Heroes'........with the brilliant, but disturbed, Bob Crane............and it was about some American and English POW's in a German camp during WW 2. Sgt. Schultz was a fat, stupid, bumbling push-over, and the POW's were constantly running scams on and around him...............and his great line was 'I KNOW NUSSEEN"!!!!!!

But................no disrespect to the rest of the Sargeants!!! My dad was the Col. and Hogan's Heroes was his favorite show!!!

To further clarify...

Submitted by gopcongress on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 10:50pm.

The brilliant John Banner portrayed the bumbling baffoon of a sergeant. Banner, it should be noted, was a Jew who had several family friends die in the holocaust after he emigrated to the US from Austria during WWII. During the filming of Hogan's Heroes, he, along with fellow Jewish actor Werner Klemperer, had stipulated that as part of their character contracts, that they always made sure that their characters never "won" vs. Hogan and the gang. They played their part to a tee, but Banner was especially good, because one of the hardest actor disciplines is to maintain a believable, bumbling fool, and to play a German soldier doubly difficult.

Ed Schultz is less than the mud on Sgt. Shultz's boots. RIP, John Banner.

Well, Joe W.---

Submitted by matthewdean on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 10:26pm.

it is perfectly O.K. because for too long, conservatives have let themselves be pushed around, about, and into corners because of their fear of being called racist.

Looking back, most can now see that it did no good whatsoever to avoid head-to-head confrontations with liberal/Democrat race card flickers, and any conservative who still avoids fighting back, or flat refuses to battle tooth-and-nail against this type of travesty, is merely allowing the use of the race card by either liberals or minorities, against those whom they disagree with, to flourish.

Well put, MD!

Submitted by Newsbubba on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 11:18am.

The only way bullies exist is because someone won't push back, hard.  Bullies like Special Ed are all bluster and blubber, but no ba!!$.  The last thing they want is a fight.  THEY might get hurt.  That's not in their nature.  They only exist to cause others pain.

It is time for conservatives to push back really hard.  Every time I hear some numb nut like Graham or McCain refer to "my good friend across the aisle, hee, hee," I want to bitch slap them!  They lose my support forever.  Some things I don't forgive and damned sure don't forget.

As for Special Ed and his clowns at MSNBC, the bar fight invitation remains open.  Any time you "boys" want to bring it, just post a note.  Same rules, and Maddow still ain't allowed to show up for your team.

One last thought.  Having Special Ed call you ignorant is like having Henry Waxman call you ugly, or Obama call you ignorant, or Reid call you slimy, or Pelosi call you phony, or ... (i could go on, but you get the point).

Now, on a happier note, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all.

It's hard to take this

Submitted by glider02 on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 10:31am.

It's hard to take this blowhard with any degree of seriousness, but unless he's confronted others may take him at his word.  Col. West is absolutely CORRECT. Here's my antidotal proof Big Ed...where's yours ? My first trip to DC was 20 years ago working on utility construction. We drove into the city from College Park and within 5 minutes there was a police helicopter hovering above us and a shoot out in an abandon building right next to us. We literally dove under the trucks. The next 6 weeks were as dangerous as any time in the militarty I spent. So dangerous in fact,  that we literally had to hire an armed security company as we worked through many different and dangerous neighboorhoods. I'm a pretty street savy guy, but this was downright shitty. We had at least 4 encounters with street thugs as i recall, even to the point of hitting a druggie with a manhole hook. It was armed conflict !

Three months ago my daughter informs us she's moving to DC and has 3 different, very substantial job offers. Of course I'm apprehensive. I rent a U haul and make the trip. To my astonishment, I found a city full of young white, black and Asian vibrant college grads . The same streets I had toiled on 20 years earlier were paved, cleaned and lined with remodeled  Brown Stones and young oak trees. it was breathtaking, the transition. I sat on the porch with an 80 year old black fella who resided next to my  daughter, and we had a cold beer. He told me he had lived in this neighboorhood for 50 years, and for the first 45, it was so dangerous..."black folks wouldn't even come up here".  It would be obvious to any observer that the city has undergone a remarkable transformation, and the reasons are obvious. As cities like Detriot, Buffalo, Baltimore, Philly literally are dying....DC is young, clean, affluent and vibrent.

Here's a note from Allen West

Submitted by Blonde on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 2:30pm.

Dear Fellow Patriots,

Greetings to all the great West supporters out there....and also to the liberal progressives who are searching for anything to use for my condemnation and marginalizing, good luck!

Just have to tell you all that it has been an incredible week, the 112th Congress freshman orientation brought the realization to me the humbling responsibility and honor of serving my Country. All those years in uniform was about serving as a Guardian of the institutions of liberty and democracy, now you all have allowed me to serve you as a citizen-legislator, the true intention of our founders.

Sunday evening we had a reception dinner hosted by Speaker-Designate John Boehner in Statuary Hall in the Capitol. After the dinner we were allowed to enter the floor of the US House of Representatives. It was at that time Angela and I came to fully recognize the greatness and exceptionalism of our Constitutional Republic, the United States of America. All those years seeing the "People's House" on TV and now a simple Soldier was standing within the halls where great Statesmen have trod.

I pray to live up to the legacy now cast upon us.

The days have just flown by since we experienced the thrill of Victory on the 2d of November. Gathering in Washington DC with the historic freshman class of 2010 and the 112th Congress was truly a phenomenal experience. The incoming class will make up 1/3 of the House GOP and we shall be able to make an immediate impact as we restore the Constitutional Conservative principles that have made America the greatest Nation the world shall ever know.

The challenges seem daunting but with Divine guidance and providence, just as that which guided our Founding Fathers, we shall prevail. It is imperative that we have an open and honest conversation with our constituents, the American people. Leadership is about choosing the hard right over the easy wrong, and that is my commitment to everyone of you...and yes, even to the liberals who seek my demise. The solutions for our long term fiscal and national security are clearly evident, we can no longer surrender to the business as usual strategies of Washington DC.

After the freshmen orientation I spent the weekend with the preeminent conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation. President Ed Fuelner and his staff gave us an incredible two days of intense policy discussion with a panel of superb thinkers and leaders. It was the perfect way to end the week. And on the past Friday we selected your Congressional office, Longworth Building Room 1708, and the Constituent desk awaits all of you...and it has a pretty nice view of the Library of Congress and US Supreme Court.

On the Sunday morning before I flew back home, we were invited to appear on NBC's Meet the Press with David Gregory. I had the pleasure to meet Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and was a member of the discussion panel. Florida's Congressional District 22 will be widely known and shall be a prominent leader as we endeavor to rendezvous with a new American destiny.

In conclusion, Angela, Aubrey, Austen, and I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Regardless of all the troubles we face, we still live in a Country unlike any other. We are protected by the new "Greatest Generation", so keep them in your prayers as they stand on the ramparts of Freedom. I am so thankful, as you all gave me the greatest of gifts, your trust and confidence to represent you and be a leader in our Republic.

Steadfast & Loyal,

Now this is what you call a REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE!

Looks like us ordinary folks finally have a voice in DC.

Virginia can have the Buffoon Ed "blow hard" Schultz...

Submitted by goon on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 3:45pm.

Being from North Dakota, ED Schultz is a Buffoon and a is a menace. Schultz was the Voice of the Bison football team before he became the Voice of the Sioux football team. Schultz was a republican before he became a democrat; the man is a joke and known for having a bit of a temper. No one in North Dakota really takes him very seriously. To refer to him as SGT Schultz is a disservice to SGT’S everywhere.

Ed should get on his knees

Submitted by texriot on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 8:25pm.

and thank God for soldiers like Allen West that have defended this country with dedication to his men, and now for what is sure to be an honorable career in representing his constituents while looking after the principles of our founding fathers. Ed can bet his sorry arse that Allen West would stand in and defend him in a street skirmish, but I fear the opposite would see Ed run for cover.
