Schultz Uses MSNBC 'Lean Forward' Line As Explicit Dem Campaign Slogan

By Mark Finkelstein | October 15, 2010 | 19:19

A  A

Not that there was any doubt, but we now have confirmation that the new MSNBC "Lean Forward" series of promos is all about . . .  promoting the election of Democrats.

On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz used the "lean forward" phrase in urging "base Democrats" to go to the polls to defeat Republicans and support President Obama's agenda.

ED SCHULTZ: Fox News, and the Tea Party, and the Republicans, folks, they are all one in [sic] the same. They are on a mission to make President Obama fail, and America fail. Base Democrats are the only people who can stop this crowd. Eighteen days from now, the choice couldn't be any more clear: either this country will go back to the 1800s, or lean forward to the 21st century.

Question: does Schultz's statement render the Lean Forward promos MSNBC contributions in kind to the DNC?

PS: Note Schultz's suggestion that to oppose Pres. Obama is to oppose "America".  Call me crazy, but I'd say you can love America without loving the Obama agenda!  Whatever happened to "dissent is patriotic"?

I suppose that "Lean Forward" does sound better than "Bend Over", even though the results will be similar.

That was hilarious.

Submitted by NeoKong on Fri, 10/15/2010 - 8:10pm.

So Ed feels that for Democrats to be successful they need to embrace their lame ass media slogan of Lean Forward....?

I don't think Schultz realizes that the Democrats already have have embraced the MSNBC mantra.   That is why they will be wiped out on Nov. 2nd.  Leaning forward has caused them to stumble over.

I wonder when the Republicans

Submitted by ricklail on Fri, 10/15/2010 - 8:24pm.

I wonder when the Republicans are going to go to the FEC and demand that the Dems consider all the hype from MESSNBC to be campaign contributions.

Unlike Bootrz I did warned you. When i heard it I spewed my Diet Mountain Dew all over the steering wheel of my truck. At least I was parked when I heard it otherwise I might not be here here tonight.

I quit watching Ed.

Submitted by Texndoc on Fri, 10/15/2010 - 8:43pm.

I used to tune into his show but I will not anymore, even for laughs.  I think his head is on the cancellation chopping block and he's trying to smile more and be more personable and it comes off as embarrassing to me.  Like Mr. Burns on The Simpsons having to smile and then saying "I would have never been able to do that without taking half a white Valium this morning".  Part of the fun of watching MSNBC for me after all is watching people who look chronically constipated and who never have anything but a scowl on their face.  Yes, YOU, Mr. Alter.

"either this country will go

Submitted by big.league.slider on Sat, 10/16/2010 - 12:46am.

"either this country will go back to the 1800s, or lean forward to the 21st century"

Does Shultz mean the 1800's when the national debt was zero and the federal income tax rate was zero?

There's only a few things you need to "lean forward" to do: fall on your face, puke, or kiss someone's @ss.

The Tea Party's slogan should be "Don't lean forward, stand up straight!".

Lean?

Isnt that what drunks and drug addicts do - lean - on something?  Then it fits democrats perfectly seeing as how they  are the party of everything immoral and perverted in America.
