Tavis Smiley of PBS: 'We're All Working For Barack Obama'

Chris Matthews won't be working alone.  Back in November, the Hardball host said it was his job to make Barack Obama's presidency a success.  Today, another TV journalist expressed a similar sentiment. Tavis Smiley has declared that "we're all working for Barack Obama" and that "we have to help make Obama a great president." [H/t reader dronetek.]

The host of Tavis Smiley on PBS was a guest on Morning Joe.  Reacting to Harry Reid's claim last week that he doesn't work for Barack Obama, Smiley said Reid should "put down the crack pipe."  Smiley added "we're all working for Barack Obama." It soon became clear that was no passing quip, but a literal description of how he sees his role.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: [Reid] says he doesn't work for Barack Obama. I think he's wrong.

TAVIS SMILEY: Harry Reid, put down the crack pipe. You don't work for Barack Obama?  We're all working for Barack Obama.

SCARBOROUGH: What are your thoughts? You're going to be on Meet The Press next week, next Sunday before the inauguration. What are your thoughts as we now move closer and closer to Barack Obama being sworn in?

SMILEY: These are exciting times. When I was last year, the day after, November 5th, the day after the election, really I was excited then about what had happened and transpired the night before. As an African-american male I revel in this moment. I revel in his humanity, I revel in this victory. I love all the talk about hope and change. Here's what I fundamentally believe, and there have been a number of examples since the election, Joe, that underscore this for me. I want Barack Obama to be a great president. I want him to be a great president. I believe that he can be a great president. But only if we help make him a great president. It is not left to his own devices, it's not going to happen. We have to help make him a great president. And that's not casting aspersion on him. No president who was ever great wasn't helped in that process. There is no Abraham Lincoln without Frederick Douglas. And we could do this all day long. Every great president had people pushing them, had people helping them and encouraging them, empowering them to become great presidents. So I believe Obama can be. I want him to be. But we have to help make this guy a great president.

And a bit later . . .

SMILEY: There's so much hype. So much hope. So much expectation. I don't want him to falter in stepping into his moment because the challenges--to your point--are so great. And that's not just a black thing. That's an American thing, and I'm concerned, and I'm not the only one obviously who feels this way, I'm concerned about the people around him about what the people allow him, all these Clintonites. There's a difference between being visionary and being revisionist. And what I'm sensing is, that we got a lot of folk that want to take us back to where we were, that's revisionist. Can we be visionary? Can we really step into what this moment is? And that's why I say I want him to be a great president.  But we got to help. We can't abandon him now. We can't abandon our posts. What are we going to do to help make him a great president?

I'm sure Smiley, Matthews and many others in the liberal media will find plenty to do to help make Barack Obama a great president--at least in the way he's portrayed in the MSM.

OOPS!

OOPS! Another liberal blurts out the truth!

And Mr. Smiley?  Why is it our job to make him a great President?

Why wasn't it  our job to make George Bush a great President?

You know, that could be taken as racist.  He's a black man, so he needs help, and to be pushed to succeed.

→ Guy Smiley

Smiley doesn't realize the President is supposed to work for us.

And yes, mb, Smiley is a racist.  But you knew that.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

Tavis

Not only is he a racist, he's a semi-literate dimwit as well. Remember when Biden called Obama "clean and articulate", well Smiley is clean enough I suppose but he's hardly articulate. Sounds like younger Jesse Jackson to me.

Smiley meant to say

TV and print journalists have been working for Obama since the primaries.  I believe Smiley meant to say, 'we've got to continue to work for Obama'

Smiley added "we're all

Smiley added "we're all working for Barack Obama." It soon became clear that was no passing quip, but a literal description of how he sees his role.

I was taught in Journo school that a journos ONLY job was to dispassionately report the news without reference to personal desires.

I would love to go back to Journalism school and ask when that role changed...

I graduated from J-School in 2006, it's still taught that reporters are supposed to be neutral, people just don't really pay much attention to that.

They acted neutral when they wrote for a grade or took an exam, though the line between columnist and reporter was really hard to see sometimes.

Micheal30: Good to

Micheal30:

Good to hear.  When I was in school, we had a tough old professor who's forte was called Editing 201.  As part of his assignments he would had out mimeographed dummy stories on various topics and force us to edit them by the next class.

Any sort of judgement call on the part of the journo had to be removed.  He was a tough old bastard and it was a way of weeding out those who were just taking classes for fun.

All I can say is that most of todays modern editors wold not have made it past Editing 201 if they submitted the crap they are putting out now.

BD, you might just find this funny...

In my editing class we had to do the exact same thing. Usually looking for factual, spelling or AP style errors but the opinions had to be removed as well.

You did this in '81? That had to suck a little bit, we at least had spelling and grammar check on our computers. Though you really can't rely on those applications alone, they do make the work alot less time-consuming.

To be honest, if I had to do that for a living, I'd go ahead and hang myself in the nearest bathroom by my necktie (and that very thought occured to me several times in that class...)

The only people I thought had it worse were the layout people trying to make everything fit onto the page with simulated advertisements. They even had to cut the articles more to make everything fit, so the writers were always complaining to them as well as the professor.

I did that once, the necktie would not have done the job quick enough, I would be looking for high-voltage wires to chew on.

Mike: Yep, our jounralism

Mike:

Yep, our jounralism lab was a room that consisted of a teletype from the AP and about twenty IBM Selectric typewriters.  Everyting was done manually.

For the Broadcast writing courses I took in 82-84 we were provided a typewriter that was modified to print HUGE letters, all capitals (Which probably explains my bizarre preference for them now) for taping the copy onto a manual teleprompter.

I never really knew how to use a computer even though I studied them in college until I was forced to use one as a brand new staff officer as a captain in 1989-90.

What can I say, the journalism courses were an easy way to get a degree and thus complete my requirements to be commissioned in the infantry.  I worked as a journo for my college years but I think I would have had little fun as an actual journo as a grown up..

I agree Ct, she is..................

very courageous for even appearing with those pieces of shite. I would think she is in emminent danger at the moment from some wack job protecting allllahs honor.

Well, he is the first

Well, he is the first affirmative action president after all.  A lot of people in the media know he is an empty suit, and if they don't want to look foolish, they are going to have to cover for him no matter how many mistakes he makes.

Great minds

You took the words literally from my mouth. Where were these touch-holes when it came to President Bush?

Good to know

Not a surprise is it?

Well I don't work for Barrack Hussein Obama, never will.

After he is inaugurated, is it OK to call him spider monkey? The left called Bush chimpy, as well as every other derogatory derisive name they could think up, so using chimpy just doesn't seem fair. I like "spider monkey" fits fine, with or without clothes, don't you think.

I suppose if they think that is racists, then how about chumpy the pimp?

Good point, mb

By the way, how do we "help" him become a great president? I mean, I'd love to help the guy, but I don't know how.

  • Is it that I'm supposed to do my job better? Work harder? I already work hard.
  • Am I supposed to buy more? Well, I buy things because I need them, after strategically calculating how much I can afford. Are we saying that I should stop strategy and just buy for the sake of buying?
  • Am I supposed to show up at rallies and just cheer?

How exactly am I supposed to "help?"  About the only thing I could do to help is ... shut up, don't criticize Obama, and pay more taxes.

Ohhhhh, yeahhh, righhhhht. I get it now. Now I know what you're asking me to do.  No thanks.

Didn't MSNBC already

Didn't MSNBC already copyright that line?

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Losing the ability to dismiss...

For the last 6 to 7 years, the general statement was that "America is at War, therefore to promote solidarity, we must support the President!"

Within the next two weeks, the President of the United States will be Barack Obama.

We are still at war in Afghanistan, even with the winding down of the war in Iraq. He will be the next "war president."

Only racists would make a statement against Mr. Smiley's commentary in the manner that you propose. In fact, Mr. Smiley's request is to continue the patriotism into the next administration as we have had in the last.

Unfortunately in the departing Presidential administration, patriotism within the administration was not a strong point. This is undisputable due to the blatant treason perpetrated by particular members or members-in-concert of the Bush administration, up to and including President Bush. The Bush presidency did not know the law, and were influencing their consultants, including the justice department, to find ways to turn internationally illegal (and therefore unjust) actions into actions that could conform with US law.

You want the truth.

The truth is that it is always our job to elect the best president we possibly can, and support him or her in executing the duties of the office and making the best decisions in the interest of the American people. Somehow we failed in doing so with the departing administration, which subsequently failed us, and Mr. Smiley's enthusiasm is out of the hope that we as Americans have corrected our own actions.

Now if you want to believe that treason is Good for America, maybe you should leave America. In a multi-national corporate environment, the only loyalty is to profit. Loyalty to profit as a Citizen of the US is not conducive to the continuation of the US as a country. Loyalty to profit should never supercede the loyalty of a US citizen to the people of the US.

Where do your loyalties lie?

Where do your loyalties

Where do your loyalties lie?

I looked at your profile and tracked your posts because your post is nuttier than a fruitcake.  Here is the loyalty you desire from us? Obama sieg hiel.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

hmmm...

Another example of Liberals turning everything upside down.  I always thought that the president worked for us.  I seem to remember something somewhere about "We the People..."  But I suppose that's going down the memory hole as well.  So now we work for the president?  I swear, this guy is just a few steps away from becoming a third-world dictator.

I swear, this guy is just a

I swear, this guy is just a few steps away from becoming a third-world dictator

Which way?  Is he a dictator now and a few steps will make him not be a dictator?  Or we could all see Obama step a few and say am I close to that guy now?  It would illustrate the point is lost on Obama and his sychophants.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

oh my...

"I believe that he can be a great president. But only if we help make him a great president. It is not left to his own devices, it's not going to happen. We have to help make him a great president."

I don't know what more could be said.  Maybe they can help Obama like they helped Bush?

Bothersome

It really bothers me that Americans think that their president "rules" and that "we all work for him."

What's happened to the American spirit? What's happened to that fierce independence and rugged individualism?

I'm disappointed in so many Americans, especially younger ones who seem to default to being ruled and governed. This is a nation full of pushovers, and they are quick to sacrifice liberty at the alter of security.

Pansies!

Ignorance.

In America today, ignorance rules. Travis Smiley is of the same generation as Barry O. They have been indocrtinated, not educated about America. The left has done its job so well that a commentator can actually state that the people work for the President in America. Unbelievable. The concepts of service and leadership have given way to servitude and group think. Yes indeed, this nation is upside down. Right has become wrong, good has become evil, ignorance has become intelligence, lies have become truth. What we need is not the blind following of an incompetent manchild and his sycophants, but rather a groundswell of thinking people who want to take back the principles upon which America was founded and what has made America great: self-reliance, individualism, hard work, respect for self and others, and so much more. On January 20th, America will witness a surrender ceremony, not an inauguration. It will put the stamp of approval on what is to come. Modern "liberalism" is so easy to take, until the crap hits the fan. We have sunk deeply into a Third-World mentality as evidenced by a the likes of Travis Smiley and so many others. The other day Barry O. said outright that only government is the answer to our woes. How anti-American can you get! Perhaps it is best to just sit back and watch our decline. But I guarantee, we won't enjoy the show. Or the few who remain can at least go down fighting. I weep for the loss that we've suffered. I once lived in a great nation called America, whose promise lied in each individual's search for truth and justice. That nation is long gone. What's coming next is horrifying to me.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

This is what happens when market failure is seen as impossible.

As a B-School grad, I was always surprised when my classmates would argue that markets do not fail. True, Markets are excellent in tackling and correcting nebulous problems in efficiencies and utilization, and are great when the playing field is fairly level, with the ability to enter the market is reasonably available to those people who have prepared themselves with the necessary skills to adapt to specific market problems.

What happened is that THE MARKET FAILED.

When markets fail, the market is no longer capable of meeting the demand, no longer capable of producing supply, and due to the nature of pure capitalism (where you are out to obliterate your competition), no other production source is available and there is no more capacity to produce supply from any other source.

When this happens, the only institution available is the government.

The government is in place to protect your rights, but in a free, unregulated market environment, you have no rights. You cannot demand money from someone who wronged you when there is no rule that what they did was wrong - even those basic wrongs as outlined in the 10 Commandments. Your American rights do not translate into the markets unless the markets comply to American law as a cost of doing business in America, and as long as there is no regulation in the American market, your rights are none.

The government steps in when markets fail. When the market was working (under regulation), all of the Conservative Capitalistic ideas were able to be tested. Then the conservative capitalists removed the protections (Phil Gramm, other Laisse Faire capitalists/economists). Once protections were removed, fraud ran rampant - unchecked. DESTROYING our ability to sustain ourselves as a nation.

US government is essentially a "marketplace" with the collective power of each and every American as a consumer/owner. There is no other market big enough to absorb the effects of the massive amount of fraud that has been perpetrated over the last 10 years.

Even all the largest capitalized firms combined do not reach the level of ability/stability that the US Government has. Our government is only as rich and as powerful as we are - and because fraudulent practices were allowed (and even perpetrated) under the last US Government administration, the only way out is the level of government intervention that takes place over the next 4 to 8 years.

America is in deep, deep trouble. We may even find ourselves in a situation where even when we do get out of this recession, we will not have the available (manufacturing, knowledge, ability/capital) capacity to grow in the way we really need to to sustain ourselves over the next 300 years. Unless there is an absolutely great effort to rebuild ourselves from the ground up, we will crumble apart and will not survive. If we, and in turn our government, does not survive, all of those rights you take for granted will end. You will not have a right to anything. You will at that point be able to be removed from everything and everyone that you believe you have a right to today.

The market requires a modern and continually available/maintained infrastructure in order to facilitate a continual flow of business. Business up to this point only maintained the infrastructure when absolutely necessary (another failure of the market), and did not pay the toll to utilize the best infrastructure in the world(the failure of the "conservatives" in screwing up tax policy through loopholes and corporate welfare).

It's been upside down for a very long time in America. America was driven head first into the ground by the outgoing Republican administration. Any change from being buried head-first is better than dying with your head in the sand.

Just face it. Laisse-Faire economics didn't work. It overuses and doesn't replace the foundations for capitalism to work well. Laisse-Faire Government (e.g. the Bush Administration) doesn't work because it creates the environment where those who enable and engage in TREASON is "Being a good American," and true patriots are labeled Traitors for not supporting them in their traitorous efforts.

→ Say what?

When markets fail, the market is no longer capable of meeting the demand

There are points beyond which a market will refuse to go, but that also is the market.

That "B" school must have been a government school...

...run by Postal Service rejects.

The entire premise of your post is utter nonsense. The markets did not fail-the government did.

I also couldn't help notice your further spreading of the current liberal manure that this problem only came about over the last eight years. Nonsense. Our current problems got their start in the 1930's, and some far more knowledgeable than me can probably trace its beginnings back further still.

I am currently 44 years of age. We have not had a "free market" in this country in my lifetime. Government has been interfering in our market economy for decades, long before I even popped out into this world.

It has been needless government regulation that helped put us here, and adding still more regulations will only make things far worse.

This "government" that you seem so enamored of has brought this country to the brink of financial ruin. They have run the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid systems into the ground, and have put enough other entitlement programs and unfunded mandates in place that each living American now has approximately a $225,000 tax bill attached to their behinds, and that is not including the bailout nonsense we have been witnessing over the last six months, and will no doubt be seeing more of in the coming months.

This is the same government that spends far more per student than any other industrialized nation, including Japan, yet turns out thousands of high school graduates each year who cannot even read their own diplomas.

Your precious government also gets the bulk of the blame for the housing "crises," which is essentially what got this whole train a rollin.'

The government that was elected last November and is currently being seated as I write this is, according to some rather interesting polling data I have seen, was voted for by the most uninformed block of voters in the history of our republic.

Essentially, it was voted into place mainly by people who have no idea how this country actually operates.

Yet, you are in here telling us that this same government, which doesn't do anything well and could probably f' up a one-piece puzzle, is the only entity that can get us out of this mess.

BullSqueeze.

The only entity that will eventually get us out of this mess is going to be the private sector. The only question is when. Will it be over the next couple of years, or only after Obama has nearly emptied the federal treasury and driven what's left of the economy into the ground.

The best thing the government could do is get out of the way and leave it alone, as our economy would right itself far more quickly and much more efficiently. Of course, given the 65 million uninformed economic illiterates that voted PEBO into power, we are going to have to wait some time before that happens.

I saw that Smiley was on but

I saw that Smiley was on but I chose to change the channel. I've always believed Smiley was a rascist. And Joe Scarborough is so wishy washy these days. I used to enjoy the show, especially since Mika has decided to shut up and stop interrupting everyone.  Did anyone hear how Joe was bashing Sarah Palin this a.m.?  Because she voiced her opinion about how she and her family were treated by the press.  He said she should have just laughed about it; grown a tougher skin.  BS!!!  He wouldn't have laughed about it if his family was being bashed and laughed at.  What's the matter with him?

Joe

used to be our congressman and HAD the respect of a great deal of the locals but since he left Congress right after getting reelected to deal with family matters he has become a splineless, whining weenie. Joe was originally a Democrat who changed parties because he could not get elected here as one but he did have good ideas and stance at one time. I fear he drank the damn water while in D.C. and become politcally impotent like so many others. He now apparently can go back to being a good little liberal with his new gig at MSNBC. He isn't so popular here anymore.

There was also something about one of his young staffers being found dead in his office....as my friend Doug will tell you, the coverage of the incident was very sparse and rather vague.

Prematurely ruled an accident, IIRC, and then the story just kind of vanished.

Yes!

How in the world did I forget about that? Could be it vanished off the radar screen almost overnight and as Blonde said, was ruled on by the local police. Lots of strange inconsistencies and perculiar circumstances. That is not that unusual though. A disposed County commissioner who had already stood trial and lost was going to testify at another's trial and they found him dead under his own house. Who the hell crawls under the house to kill themselves?

Well at least he admitted it.  Now if only Chris, Keith, Rachel, and the rest of the MSM could admit it.

Small thing I guess but...

Can Rachel speak without skewing her mouth to the right all the time? Does she have something wrong with the nerves and/or muscles in her face?

Yeah, I've noticed that

Yeah, I've noticed that too.  I don't know what it is, but it sure is annoying. And it's almost like she's talking and smirking at the same time.  Not that I would watch her anyway, but I see it in video clips here and there.

Campbell Brown has something strange about the way she talks also.  It's almost like she is having some kind of epileptic fit.

I wish he would have

I wish he would have admitted it BEFORE the election - not after.

There's nothing to admit...

Support the President!

I'd never heard that statement before in America, until after 9/11. Well, it's still after 9/11. We're still at war.

In less than two weeks, we will have a new president, but the statement should not change because...

It's still after 9/11, and we're still at war.

fitz

Amen! LOL.

Smiley's right about one thing

Obama ain't gonna be a great or even good President on his own. He'll need a complicit drive-by media, a loyal Democrat Party, and a lot of dumb Republicans in order to be considered a success.

It's pretty clear with his stimulus package, his refusal to take a position on Israel/Gaza or Burris, and some of his cabinet choices that he's cowardly lib with no clue what he's doing.

So the way I see it, the next 4 years will be all about marketing. He'll sell himself to the public as a success. As a cool cat who can talk a good game and never gets rattled. Behind the scenes he'll be a skinny little wuss who has no idea how to deal with any major issue that lands on his desk. But the media and his fellow Dems will do their best to hide the truth from the voters. Hell, it worked during the campaign. Who's to say they can't pull it off again?

Openly Admitted

So, now they openly and brazenly admit what I've believed for 40 years - they are in the tank for the democrat/socialists.  I at least respect their new-found honesty.

I think Tavis has stripped the last piece of clothing off of the media emperor.

The "O" needs help becoming "great?"

Although the Smiling One caveats his statement by claiming he's not casting aspersions towards THE "One".....

He's already done just that --- admitting that His O-ness will need all the hot air -- er, "help" -- he can get to ascend to greatness, for only with all that assistance can Oblahma rise to the level he is due.

Does Smiley see his role as getting underneath Oblama to lift him up, or more likely does Smiley see himself stooping down to bring Barry up to the heavenlies where Smiley himself dwells among the clouds?

Even transcendental numbers beyond infinity can not express the level of hubris surrounding the incoming administration.

...and the higher that Icarus flew.......

Sooner or later it will be raining feathers and wax, but probably not before these maroons will have inflicted their socialist nightmares upon the rest of us.

Harry Reid works for the people of Nevada that elected him, idiots though they clearly are.

What are we going to do to help make him a great president?

AA's just can't seem to make it on their own and those who prop them up only make everything worse. Thanks for Clueless O Carter aka OtJEC.

When did I start working for him?

Dear Tavis,

I am not working for Obama.   I keep hearing of change and hope, yet no real plan.  I can fill you with all kinds of promises, but until I get you results, I would not expect you not to follow me blindly.

The only thing I have to say to the Obama lovers is, "Prove us wrong."

We are NOT the President's servants, as too many ignoramuses around us claim. Rather, the President is to serve the people! Unfortunately, I don't think Ears will ever accept that idea...

I do not work for that

I do not work for that a**hole.  He is supposed to be working for us.

If he cannot be successful at the job on his own, then how is he qualified for it in the first place?

I wish the job interview I had earlier today was like b.o.'s interview...I got asked actual questions pertaining to the job and not questions like "how would you feel about getting this job?"

So we're all supposed to bow to their savior and make him a successful president.  But they tear down Bush at any opportunity...

And about b.o.'s hope and change:

Hope in one hand and s*** in the other.  See which one fills up first.

Is this guy for real?  Lincoln needed Fredrick Douglass in prder to be a great President?  I suppose if you learned your history at an NEA run school you might have learned Lincoln totally depended on Douglass to fight the CivilWar.  How possibily could have he done it otherwise? Also, if all the ex-Clintonites appointed by Sgt. Schultz are a reactionary action, explain why the brillant one appointed them, Travis. Also, like you lefties said beginning in 2000,"He might be POTUS, but he ain't my President.  Apparently,to paraphrase another of the One's self described mentors, Liberal slogans, are comin' home to roost.

Hey Tavis thanks for HELPING GWB you piece of crap

They really helped GWB when they release classified information to the public on "warantless wiretapping"  Idiots.

I do not work for the One.

My job is to keep as much of my hard earned money for my family and my job is to keep as much of my money away from the govt as possible.  I would rather give it to Larry Flint than the govt.

At Least He's Honest

At least he has the guts to admit that he's part of the propoganda wing of the Obama political team.  Of course his job is secure since its a government welfare job, so he can say things like this and not have to worry about ratings or performance.

Ahhhhh

These posted comments are laughable! First of all, the two white commentators said the same thing about Harry Reid, but all you folks could harp on was Smiley's comment. Any one with a half brain knows that Obama works for us, he has said that time and time again, if any of you dimwits took time to listen. What people posting comments on this board fail to realize is that at the end of the day it will take ALL OF US to ensure that America moves forward, not just one person. However, I can see clearly by the comments on here that none you still don't get it. I, for one want problems solved, not concieved; if I wanted the latter I would have voted for McSame and da "Moose hunter".  And no, I don't agree with everything Obama expouses, but he is the right individual to help our nation solve it's problems. Barak is not a magician, it is going to take pain and sacrafice from all of us to get through the idiotic messes of the past 8 years. If you monkeys on here want to continue to wallow in that stew then I suggest you follow Dumbya back to Texas!!

Vudu, I'm from Texas and we

Vudu, I'm from Texas and we are pleased to have our President back here in this Great State...We welcome him back to us.  There's certainly no reason for your snippy remarks, but then your handle tells all of us pretty much about you.

BT,

I was going to respond to this fool, but then I realized, that he is probably back in momm's basement, "getting a grip on himself", if you know what I mean.

"...but he is the right individual to help our nation solve it's problems."

So, a man who has so far proven that the only thing he has ever done in life is use a bullhorn to whip a street mob into a frenzy, has figured out something that Lenin, Stalin, Roosevelt (Franklin D.) Castro, Mao, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Pol, Ho, Johnson, Carter, and a whole bunch of others, were unable to do:

He is somehow going to make Marxism actually work.

Right.

Suppose you enlighten all of us ignorant "scumbags on the right" (your words) by telling all of us just exactly how PEBO is going to do this?

Not sure what a "half

Not sure what a "half brain" is

"none you still don't get it"-evidently neither do you

"Barak is not a magician"-Barack? That's not what I heard, I heard he was magic.

Wow, good points, clearly and succinctly illuminated.

It seems we all were wrong! It not only takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to raise a President!

Barack Obama's Responsibility

Talk about nonsense!

So if I disagree with Obama and he fails as a president, it's my fault?!

Um, yes.  The Omnissiah

Um, yes.  The Omnissiah can spot you in a crowd, pal.  Remember how they said Clinton could sense the one person in the room who didn't like him, walk up to that person and not leave them until he had "won them over?"  Turns out, Bubba was a rank amateur.  I hear the One can look over the heads of his adoring multitudes, pick out the singular individual who is not singing the worker's anthem with sufficient enthusiasm, and kill him or her with his heat vision.

And That's Objective

Remember that Chris Matthews claimed to be objective after having that funny feeling up his leg.  It is a dangerous thing when the media becomes an unapologetic extension of the government and in this case one man: Barack Obama.  Even our education is being coopted into indocrinating young community organizers.

TV Journalists???

These people are not journalists.  We need to title them correctly.  They are tv employees.  That's all.  Journalists, you see, are not biased.  They report the truth, no matter where it lies.  Only journalists are worthy to claim status of "guarantors of the First Amendment."  This sorry crowd of news employees today, who imagine themselves journalists, have shamefully abdicated their rightful position of proclaimers of the truth to the public.

Sorry, I have to leave.  I'm gonna be sick.

Obama and PBS

For the person who left the comment about the nation working for Bush for the past eight years to support the War President. You're an idiot, since when has the media or any leftist democrat supported Bush on the War or any other issue for that matter. The Democrats have done nothing but try to sabotage Bush at every step to wreck the economy and lose the War so they could blame Bush. Face it if Obama fails and he surely will we should throw him under the bus just like they did to Bush. The democrats are all crooks and liars and have destroyed America.

Newsflash to

Newsflash to Travis:

Obama works for ME (as in We, The People).

Tavis

You have it backwards, Obama is working for us!

For years, president Bush

For years, president Bush kept us safe and did his best to run this country. He made mistakes. The left bashed him for eight years every minute of every day. Now they expect me to help that antiamarican bigot and fraud become a success, which isn't possible. Not likely that I'm going to be on his side.

→ Baby steps

I'm taking a different perspective.

Maybe reality will settle in on this next President and  he'll become a great leader.  It's possible, isn't it?

Case in point:  After setting up his own crisis with a cowardly deceit at the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy finally stood up to the Russians he'd previously emboldened.
