Brian Williams Gushes Over Shirtless Obama Vacation Photos
On Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, anchor Brian Williams took some time out from reporting the news of the day in order to fawn over President Obama's shirtless athletics on a beach in Hawaii, proclaiming: "...the photos that leaked from the President's vacation that may reverberate with middle aged men everywhere."
As still shots of Obama in his bathing suit appeared on screen, Williams announced: "The photos that come out today may make it tougher for men of a certain age who go to the beach for summer vacation this year because a lot of guys are now going to be expected to dive for every football that comes remotely close to them. This is the 50-year-old President of the United States on New Year's Day in what appears to be a hardcore beach football game."
The sycophantic fluff was reminiscent of media adulation over similar Hawaii vacation photos of then-President-elect Obama in December of 2008. At that time, Today co-host Matt Lauer declared: "And fit to serve, Barack Obama photographed shirtless in Hawaii and a lot of women are giving him the presidential seal of approval."
More recently, in an interview with outgoing presidential assistant Reggie Love on Rock Center, Williams praised the Obama family: "...like a retro almost 1950s American family, that there's a – kind of a wholesomeness about them. They play board games, they play on the floor of the living room with the dog, they're not – the girls aren't allowed a lot of TV and social media."

Well, PaleHorse........it's just a reflection of how my little peabrain works, and how I speak, I guess. Believe it or not, I'm a really fast typer, and my finger just seems to hit the period key when I"m taking a little breath, or something like that. I don't know - it's nothing that I strive to do - I was doing it before I came acroos this website. I've taken a little heat for it before - especially in the beginning.........but most people just figured out that was my style, or something like that.
I see all sorts of styles here on NB, so I don't think I'm some kind of oddball..............I'm more interested in what goes on in people's minds than how they type.
I don't think there's anything to 'get'................as I like to say - take it or leave it, but you'd better believe it - I'm a 'live and let live' kind of guy. If I started thinking about the way I type, it would probably screw me up!!!

Some of the comments are entertaining, others are inappropriate for a public forum. Profanity is a sign of poor language skills and inability to properly express ones thoughts and ideas with clarity and respectful discourse....style notwithstanding.

I'm stickin' (Obamaspeak) with my statement, Ms. Caj...................I've READ all sorts of statements from 'the other side', and I know a LOT of libs over here in Hawaii, so I know what I'm sayin'. And why should I/we CARE what they think of us anyway - given their own issues?? You've seen what happens in the media and the public forum when 'conservatives/Republicans' try to 'make nice' with these guys............they're basically digging their own graves. I'm not gonna do it like that, and a whole lot of other people aren't either............too bad most of our 'leaders' can't summon up enough testoserone and testicular fortitude to lay it on the line with these phonies in the political arena and their willing accomplices in the State-Run Media.
Actually, in some instances, I think profanity hits the nail right on the head - especially if you're dealing with morons who usually don't hear anything else besides their own voice.............but you've got to be able to back up your thoughts and points.
I'm not tryin' to be confrontive or antagonistic here, Ms. lovely and petite Ms. Caj - I'm just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past tryin' to get through this life, playin' by THEIR rules - because THEIR rules have put us in a big hole - economically, socially, mentally, intellectually, spiritually, and personally. And I'm not some dark, angry, evil, aggresive Nazi/terrorist/bigot/intolerant (fill in whatever other adjectives that you, me, and millions of others have been called) whacked-out right-wing nutjob, either. I wake up every day with optimism, good cheer, humor, and as much sharpness and cleverness as my little peabrain and my inner spirit can muster - and I have to admit that it's not getting any easier to be that way!!!
If I see cockroaches, centipedes, termites, vermin, or any other undesireable critters in or around my house - I don't spend a lot of time trying to convince them that they shouldn't be there...............my immediate response is KABOOM!!! My mentality towards libs is the same way - I'm a live and let live kind of guy, but if THEIR lifestyle and agenda and idealology starts working it's my into MY life (and I'm very good at minding my own business), it's gonna be toilet time, and I'm doin' the flushing.
And, remember, ma'am, that this thread is about a girlie-man 'news reporter' who HAS been photographed BOWING to Boy Barry, who has been photographed BOWING to Kings, Emporers, and leaders in OTHER countries - talking about how HOT Mr. Universe looks topless.....................now, if you can get any more ludicrous than that, I'd like to hear about it!!!

I agree that this administration is not only able to draw anger but fear as well. That fear sometimes is expressed in aggressive and disrespectful terms. ALL of us get angry but not all of us are fond of profanity.
I am also sick of liberals but it doesnt mean we have to chase them off the cliff and go down with them. We can fight without using their tactics. That is how we beat the British the first go 'round, standing firm on OUR ground. I was watching some video clips of 'da boyz' paddling into some serious Peahi sets!!! We could only wish that our 'leaders' had HALF the balls that these guys have!!
Last night I took a bomb on the head - it broke about 10 feet in front of me - after the sun had gone down - I just dove for the bottom and hoped that my leash wouldn't break!! Today was excellent - 4-6 'Hawaiian', which means that it was 8-12' faces, and really good shape - and not very crowded in the mid-morning, although that changed around lunchtime..........so I could get outof there, happy, and come home to watch some NFL.
Ya gotta admit, no ka oi, that the 'bathing suits' these surfer girls 'wear' over here are REALLY conducive to keeping a smile on your face - as if we don't have enough beauty over here as it is!!! And while I haven't been called 'sir' too much, I wince when they call me 'MR.'!!!!!!!

Please understand, killa, I'm much less interested in insisting upon a completely pristine website with sanitized comments as I am in determining what the rules of posting are and expecting that they will be enforced with at least a reasonable degree of consistency.
Just a few weeks ago, I was drawn and quartered by a whole slew of folks merely because I QUOTED an expletive [the f-word] posted by others on a linked website page. Poor ucw's tender sensibilities were so aggrieved by my offense that he felt it necessary to add my name to Denny Crane's Hall of Shame list of NB Vulgarians. [I see that ucw has commented on this thread without objection to any post content. Apparently his sensibilities have since toughened up considerably.]
Anyway, just my thoughts on the subject.
Watched some of the PGA tournament earlier from Kapalua. The weather, the ocean, the beach, the whales frolicking in crystal blue seas, the golf course--everything looked absolutely gorgeous!

Oh yeah, it was a beautiful Hawaiian day..........and the surf was spectacular. And, yeah, I think the whales are starting to arrive, although I've only seen a couple of 'spouts' so far..........but today, there were a LOT of turtles swimming around in the surf.

But maybe I haven't seen the whole 'f' work printed here too often - although Dave has been known to go on a 'tirade' once in a while, and others have used it - including me - but I'm never sure if the website moniters are going to let it fly or not.

I spelled out the "f-word"on that earlier occasion exactly as it had appeared in the phrase I quoted which precipitated the flare-up [and just as it was spelled out in the comment on this thread which I alluded to in my prior post]. But I assured cajun and 26CX then that I would never again spell it out even when quoting the originally unedited expletive. Doing so in the incident a few weeks ago is precisely why you reported me to Denny's forum. I'm confident if I spelled it out again--even though it would be an accurate replication of its usage on this thread--you would triumphantly add it to the forum as yet another example of my alleged penchant for vulgarity. Such is the nature of your hypocrisy. And your pathetic and despicable smear that it is "one of my favorite words" typifies your lack of concern for fairness and honesty--at least as it relates to your conduct on this topic. You may be, and probably are, a great guy with a sterling character in other respects. But this case hasn't been one of your shining moments.
My wife and I stayed very near where that photo was taken when we were in Maui for a few days about 15 years ago. We both loved it...she especially, and has been bugging me to take her back there ever since.
