Following MSNBC coverage of ObamaCare protesters legally carrying guns, on Thursday, the Second Amendment Foundation condemned the liberal network for "using deceptively-edited video from a Phoenix, Arizona anti-tax rally on Monday to invent a racial stereotype in its on-going effort to demonize and marginalize American firearms owners as ‘racists.’"
As NewsBusters reported on Tuesday, MSNBC correspondent Contessa Brewer, along with Morning Meeting host Dylan Ratigan and pop culture analyst Toure, depicted all gun-carrying protesters as being "white," "racist," and even a threat to President Obama’s life. Brewer cited one such gun-toting protester, but used highly edited video footage that did not reveal the man was actually African-American.
After Politico.com picked up the NewsBusters item, an MSNBC spokesperson attempted to justify the slander: "Contessa was speaking generally and not about that specific person with the automatic weapon." But Brewer did specifically cite an unidentified African-American man who attended a protest outside of a Monday speech by President Obama: "Yesterday, as President Obama addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Phoenix, a man at a pro-health care reform rally just outside, wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip."
In a press release on Thursday, the conservative group Americans for Limited Government called on MSNBC to fire "all involved with producing a misleading broadcast."

Essentially, anything anyone
August 20, 2009 - 17:48 ET by mostlymoderateEssentially, anything anyone does during the presidency of Barack Obama can be deemed "racist". Oops, I think I just committed a racist act myself for even using the name Barack Obama.
Also, the new term for "racist" is "hate speech".

But oh, they needed that rifle! How to show it without showing his race?
They managed to film every inch of the rifle without showing an inch of his skin.

Yeah, I'll admit it -- I
August 20, 2009 - 19:31 ET by ThisnThatYeah, I'll admit it -- I was racist this morning. I slightly burned my toast; there were some black singe marks on it, but I ate it anyway. I'm positive I didn't give enough respect to the black, burnt edges, which probably makes me a racist to the core. Worst yet -- black coffee.
Now, isn't this rediculous? Of course it is. So is MSNBC, but the executives at NBC don't seem to think so. I wonder why not? What's the difference between what MSNBC is spewing vs. the stupidity I just wrote? There is none, and NBC should be ashamed of itself for supporting that crap. IMO.

Say what, huh, WTF?
August 20, 2009 - 17:57 ET by Indiana JoeOkay, so Contessa was "speaking generally" when she talked about gun-owners as "racists." That makes it better? No, numbskull, that makes it worse! Racists, sexists, any kind of "-ist" you want to cite speak "generally." That's what "prejudice" is, you blinkered dillweed!
What kind of test do you have to fail to become an MSNBC "spokesperson," and what does the job pay?
On second thought, forget I asked. I have a few scruples left.

She didn't say they were "racists"....
August 20, 2009 - 18:33 ET by krendlerShe said "there are questions about whether this has racial overtones"
The typical sleazy tactic we see constantly, day in, day out, from our friends at MS-NBC, CNN and NPR. They don't actually come out and say "These people are clearly racists. Look! They're white and the oppose The Holy One". Instead, they put in out there in the form of a question (to which their liberal guest will respond with something like "well, it's very hard to ignore the obvious racial overtones involved in these protests, blah blah blah"), or attribute the question to some nebulous source.
The only ones who can be properly labeled "racists" in these situations are the ultra-politically correct, liberal-to-the-hilt, Obama-worshiping "journalists.

August 20, 2009 - 19:25 ET by d1carterAs MSNBC management sold their collective souls to elect the POTUS and broke all the rules, the employees are simply following management's lead. No need to adhere to any standards of "journalism"...this is propaganda. It fit their narrative.

August 20, 2009 - 19:36 ET by armedcitizenHaving MSNBC firing anyone over this! Has anybody found out who the guy in the picture is? Maybe Fox can interview him and find out what he's all about. Maybe he's a black conservative, and then throw that in their face, along with all the rest of the so-called racist ghosts they keep chasing!
I'm proud to bea conservative hispanic, who also packs heat to protect myself, my family, and the constitution! Oh, wait, that's right, I'm a Wise Latino, and of course I'd come to better conclusions than liberals!

For anglos, what I'm saying above is that a lot of minorities believe that government is the only solution to their problems, when in fact government has been the problem in a lot of countries, always stealing the money. Having a government with so much power over the American people is very dangerous and that has to be fought. I also mentioned that I'm missing a lot of punctuation, but I don't care, I'm not going to bother since it is at least somewhat legible.

If that were the standard, ALL MSNBC "journalists" who have worked there over the past 8 or 9 years would be out of work.
However, MSNBC's viewership numbers probably would remain unchanged, because anyone stupid enough to watch MSNBC would be too stupid to realize they were now looking at a blank screen.

sometimes I think I should have my own conservative talk show...
August 20, 2009 - 21:06 ET by traderjamesbecause I am able to predict a lot of stuff before it happens ! Case in point: I was watching one of the news networks the other day. It was a report of gun-toting folks at the town halls. No particular bias (can't remember which network). Well, they take a (camera) shot on a black guy with a big gun on his back...and I say to myself (out loud actually...), "oh my God, it's a BLACK GUY with a big gun on his back !!!! How are the libs gonna handle this one ????" Well, now we know. I admit I did not predict that they would totally edit him out and begin their blather about whitey with the big bad guns ! PRICELESS !
Also, I was heartened to see the comments after the Politico article were 95% anti-MSNBC.
Thanks for reading this. I had to get it off my chest !!

August 21, 2009 - 08:17 ET by NL207Some hard-hitting counter propaganda: Find the man who was carrying the guns in Arizona and interview him on camera. Broadcast this intercview. I'm almost surprised one of the radio talk show people hasn't done this already.

Racist?
August 21, 2009 - 11:25 ET by grumpyoldbLesse here. A news organization (and I use those words very loosely), that supports programs that allow the government to control where minorities and the poor live (government housing), how much they make (welfare), their access to medical care (title 19 etc), and other aspects of their lives (which to me kind of sounds like keeping minorities where you want them so they don't cause you any problems), is calling groups that stand for individual liberty, and the chance to make anything of themselves that they want (as long as they are willing to risk failure, or worse yet success), racists?? I think that's the pot calling the kettle black.. (Whoops, is that a racist comment?). Let's just call a spade a spade (Oh My God! Did I actually say that?) and get to the TRUTH!
