Andrea Mitchell Conducts Softball Interview with Feminist Pushing FCC to Silence Limbaugh
Andrea Mitchell is no newbie to journalism. In fact, in 2010, she was given the Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism by the National Press Foundation. She's in good company with Brit Hume and the late Tim Russert among previous recipients of the award. But alas, the MSNBC anchor displayed no "excellence in journalism" with her brief, softball interview today with Robin Morgan of the liberal Women's Media Center.
Mitchell brought Morgan on to discuss her group's petition drive to request the FCC to ban Rush Limbaugh from the airwaves. The WMC's argument is that Limbaugh engages in "hate speech" which is not in the "public interest" and hence cause to push him off the air. Below the page break I've listed in bullet points the questions Mitchell posed to Morgan, which, as you can see, are all softballs meant to advance Morgan's talking points:
- He has apologized, Rush Limbaugh has, he's said that, for over 40, excuse me, for over 20 years, quote, "I have demonstrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance," he says, "I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke. My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices." So, should that apology be enough?
- This was Rush just within the hour on his show again today. [plays Limbaugh clip where he says the women of America "want jobs" and that the Obama administration "calculated they could create this mythical Republican war on women, and look where they are."]
Yup. That's it. Following Morgan's answer to the second question, Mitchell thanked her guest for appearing on the program. In effect, it was a brief advertisement for the Women's Media Center, a short plug for their petition drive to silence Rush.
As you may recall, in recent weeks Mitchell has tag-teamed with liberal feminists on matters from the Komen/Planned Parenthood controversy to the ObamaCare contraception mandate to Texas legislators defunding Planned Parenthood.

Because it shows, yet again, that liberalism is based entirely on FORCE.
The ideas of liberty and freedom of choice are simply not part of the leftist dictionary.
They're so fast to call us name, notably as fascists and nazis. But facism and Nazism as well as communism describe liberals to a T.

Mitchell in her interview with Sandra Fluke was one of the first to "break the news" that President Obama, himself, had called Fluke and offered his praise and solidarity. Or better yet, the White House had THEIR network and THEIR anchor- Mrs. Alan Greenspan- continue this phony political theater involving contraceptives and the Republican's supposed war on women. And, of course, give more media exposure to Cindy Sheehan, oops, I mean Sandra Fluke.
How Britt Hume won a Taishoff Award is beyond me since the only excellence I see from Mitchell is advancing the Democrat's big government behemoth.

Mitchell is the worst. Because she's not dumb. She's just a craven liar. I mean, a Mika for instance, is an idiot with an Oak leaf cluster, doesn't really understand how shoe laces work. But this Mitchell works hard to scam us daily. She'll be studied by future generations trying to figure out what happened.

Rush being removed from the air is a wet dream of the fringe left that will never happen. In a classic display of idiocy and supreme irony these same women have compared Rush to Goebbels. You know Rush is laughing about all of this which makes them even madder that their little publicty stunt has backfired.

What am I missing with Andrea's point here? Is she suggesting this is wrong or somehow insulting to someone? Or is she merely pointing out to this feminist that once again Rush is right and the left's ploy to change the subject from Obama's failures has failed.
Kick Limbaugh off the air?? That's laughable.

Especially since Limbaugh publicly apologized. The FCC isn't going to bother with this.
The Dems and their MSM water carriers have been hamering this nail so long that they've bent the nail and split the board -- and they're still hammering. A few Dem "strategists" are hinting that it's going on too long, but the DNC and their allies don't know how to turn it off.
Yet a new poll indicates that despite the claim of a GOP "War on Women," Obama is losing support of women. If my wife is typical (and she may not be), women are insulted by this blatant pandering.
The apology was irrelevant in this case, Galvanic...

That's why
(1) They're letting all their surrogates do the threatening
(2) They have MSNBC be the WH mouthpiece, while NBC's approach is more subtle and comparable to rival networks CBS and ABC, though it occurs to me that NBC still enjoys a special connection to the WH.
For all the WH attacks on Fox News and calls from Dems and the MSM to curb its message, I don't recall Obama or Holder ever threatening to use the FCC against it (Though I may be wrong). Instead, they use the usual tactic of discrediting Fox News as the propaganda arm of the GOP.
