Former Seminarian, Leftist Talker Bill Press to Tim Tebow: 'STFU'

By Ken Shepherd | December 15, 2011 | 17:02

Ken Shepherd's picture

You'd think a former Catholic seminarian would be happy about Christian athletes who are unashamed to publicly praise Jesus Christ. But then again, this is Bill Press we're talking about.

Our friend Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer notes how the left-wing talker and CNN Crossfire alumnus declared on his December 15 radio program that the Denver Broncos quarterback should shut the [expletive] up:

PRESS: Tim Tebow.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: What is it with you in the fourth quarter?

TEBOW: Well, first and foremost, I just have to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and thank my teammates, this is just an unbelievable feeling.

PRESS: Oh yeah, all right all right yeah first of all I just have to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and you know what I want to say, S.T.F.U. [shut the f*** up]

I’m tired of hearing Tim Tebow and all this Jesus talk.

[...]

PRESS: Tim Tebow, everybody wants to make him a hero. I think he’s a disgrace! I think he’s a disgrace! I think he’s an embarrassment!

By the way, Press is the author of a book entitled, "Toxic Talk: How the Radical Right Has Poisoned America's Airwaves."

Hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, Bill Press!

What is it with religious liberals and their Tebow Derangement Syndrome?

PRESS: Tim Tebow, everybody wants to make him a hero. I think he’s a disgrace! I think he’s a disgrace! I think he’s an embarrassment!

With all the people who are unemployed, how does Press keep a job?

If Press is looking for disgraceful NFL players, they're out there by the busload.  Drug abusers, wife beaters, thugs, adulterers, thieves . . . .  Here's a remarkably successful player who isn't hurting anybody and Press thinks he's a disgrace.

I'm certain that if Tebow was black or Hispanic, Press wouldn't  say a damned thing about it.

Ask 20 Americans at random would they would rather sit next to on a 4 hour airline flight:  Tim Tebow or Bill Press?  I'll bet 18 or more pick Tebow.

I didn't know that. Hmmmm.. is it on anywhere where people might accidentally hear it?

I wonder what the results would be if we took the following poll:

Have you ever heard of Bill Press?

Have you ever heard of Tim Tebow?

My guess as to the results:

Heard of Press: 2%

Heard of Tebow: 95%

If Bill STFU no one would notice!

it is that the Libstream media is continuing to bash Tebow because of his faith and his willingness to display it publicly. I don't care for football, but I hope this young man continues to improve at the game and continues to piss off the elitist dicktards who don't like it

I am a HUGE football fan. I really like Tim's courage and faith to stand up to everyone and make the declarations that he does. No one remember Mark Bravaro after EVERY touchdown genuflecting and singing the cross? Or getting arrested in 1988 for bieng at the Pro Life rally which he is still involved with? Bravaro was quiet on the field, quiet off the field but his actions proved what words he did choose to speak. Tim is a little more vocal on the field and off the field but equally matched his actions with his chosen spoken word. The media HATES this fact. I say TIm, KEEP TALKING! I just hope and pray that my sons, whenever they start to play football, look up to Mr. Tebow. Hall of Famer. (ok not yet but I can see him as one)

Submitted by drsamherman on Thu, 12/15/2011 - 7:42pm.

As a Roman Catholic, but first as a devout Christian, I applaud Tim Tebow's willingness to thank the Almighty for his successes. That a modern post-college pro football player is happy, let alone willing, to make his faith a prominent part of his public life is nothing short of wonderful. I have no idea of what his private life is nor is that anyone's business but his, but his public behavior has been that of a fun-loving, hard-working and faithful gentleman. Certainly cannot say that about many pro football players with their endless public scandals and unearned egotism.

This is something that Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Levin, Savage, O'Reilly, Nat'l Review, George Will, Peggy Noonan, and everyone else you can think of, should be putting into the widest possible circulation.

And the Democrat-media-complex (ABC-CBS-NBC-CNN) should be pressured, pounded, and shamed into reporting this. This man is the embodiment of the very thing he claims to despise in his capricious, cynical little book. He's also a perfect example of the sort of bile-spewing, ad-hominem attack making, hateful, profane, vicious, intolerant liberal - hypocritical and utterly lacking in self-awareness. Fortunately, his audience is as small as his mind..

Does anybody even care what this sorry relic has to say? Does anybody even listen to his show? This poor fellow is growing more irrelevant by the day as his mental capacity continues to dwindle. This is what happens to people that has spent their whole life as a liberal. They become hateful, bitter, illogical, ceasing to make sense of anything, if they ever did. This is also example #12,126,870 of the complete hypocrisy of liberals. They think themselves to be the most tolerant and enlightened among us then display their complete intolerance against any and everything they disagree with. Most people would quickly recognize this about themselves and either keep their mouth shut or change their views. Not liberals. They are so freaking dense that they see nothing wrong about things like this! Either that or they are aware of the hypocrisy and simply don't care. Either way, these people demonstrate that they are soulless ...

Submitted by cajun2 on Fri, 12/16/2011 - 12:49pm.

Once again, Tebow's critics show the effect of affirmative action as well as a decaying society.

He has chosen, for himself standards for his life, his behavior, and his profession. These standards are how he measures his own success and accomplishments.

Those that criticize him do so, not because of his religious beliefs, but because of the personal  standards  he has established  that they can NEVER meet.  His success in meeting his own standards exposes all of their failings in their personal life and professions. They do not see their own failings, so they knock him for having standards THEY cannot live up to. This allows them to once again, take no responsibility for the failings in their lives, but criticize him for unrealistic standards  So they knock him for even having high expectations they will never reach rather than reflect upon their own lives. Some ugly people hate looking into a mirror.

The more successful he becomes, in all aspects of his life, the more they will show their hatred, not for him, but tor the level of morals and values he lives every day.

For everyone else, they have a "live and let live" attitude. Who are we to judge a person's morals? What's right for one isn't always right for another.

Except when it comes to overt Christianity.  Then they judge enthusiastically.

What a bunch of crybabies.  They are sooo traumatized by having to witness public professions of faith.

There is no question that many of Tebow's critics attack him for his religious beliefs. What I was trying to state is that even agnostics and atheists live by certain values and standards.  There are people that do not believe in stealing, lying, adultery, murder of the unborn, but do not believe in a higher power.

The major complaint people have against Christians is their attempts to live a life dedicated to those values and standards.  Lower standards of behavior, place yourself above all others, take no consequences for your behavior except to hire an expensive lawyer describes many of anti Christian bigots  Criticizing others for their openly living with values and morals  is just another  way  to justify ones narcissistic decadent lifestyle and make it appear as normal.

Chances are his love life consists of a Hustler magazine and a blowup doll (with the distinct possibility of a shaved poodle in the mix). Think about it - who would want to be around this obnoxious prick?
