Video: 'Occupy San Diego' Honors Suspected White House Shooter with Moment of Silence

By Ken Shepherd | November 17, 2011 | 12:48

A  A
Ken Shepherd's picture

During the height of the Tea Party protests, the liberal media sought to hype any hint that the movement may turn violent against Democrats in general and President Obama in particular.

For example, Hardball's Chris Matthews famously blew up in August 2009 at a libertarian protester who legally carried a gun to a presidential townhall meeting in New Hampshire, suggesting it was wildly inappropriate "given the violent history of this country with regard to presidents and assassinations."

So it should be interesting to see what attention, if any, the mainstream media pays to Occupy San Diego honoring suspected White House shooter and likely Occupy DC participant Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez (see video below the page break):

US President - President Obama

Submitted by Agnostic on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 1:33pm.

I know that many Conservatives/Republicans don't claim President Obama as their President or they can cite the number of times the WH was shot with a Republican occupant but as a nation we can not stand too light when our representative come fire from our own citizenry.

In this case, as with many others, it may have been someone with mental difficulties.  However, we as a nation of citizens must be affronted when anyone would dare to assume they can take aim at the representation of our great nation.

I was sickened when some Liberals cheered the thought of a Bush assassination and even mildly disturbed by the liberal response to the shoe throwing incident.  It is the loss of reverence for serving our nation that allows the citizens to continually vote for the lesser of two evils and to push positive candidates to the side for the better bumper sticker representative.

President Obama needs to be confronted for all the ills his policies have caused the American people and our allies but no one that represents the people of the United States should be expected to be shot at by their own citizens without the anger of the electorate being generated.

Submitted by Cappmann1962 on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 2:36pm.

What botheres me even more than some screwball taking potshots at the WH (not really much of a threat), is these G.D. friggin IDIOTS bowing their heads in a moment of silence for the moron that did the shooting! If this doesn't show their extremely limited cognitive abilities and true nature, then nothing will. How any American can support these sorry SOBs is beyond me.

There goes Clevenative's argument

And what's my argument ant?

Submitted by Clevenative on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 3:59pm.

That so many of you people are rabid hate-mongerers? (Guilty as charged)

One misinformed speaker in San Diego who was mistakenly led to believe (probably from listening to Fox News) that the shooter was “one of their own” and called for a moment of silence and you turn that into “honoring” the shooter?

What’s with you people, seriously? Why do you take pride in spreading lies and starting bogus smear campaigns? It’s not very “Christian” of you, you know?

Hell, even Fox News gave up on that narrative. The fact is, there is no doubt this guy has mental problems and is described as “radically religious”. He saw himself as Jesus and Obama the “Anti-Christ” and thought the world was going to end on that day (11-11-11) – geez – any of THAT sound familiar? And yet right away you try to jump the gun on any possible right-wing ideology or influence and try to instead paint him as a leftist radical and connected to the OWS movement???? And now I suppose you will play the usual right-win propaganda game and keep repeating that lie until enough people actually believe it as the truth.

NOTHING could be further from the truth.

As has been reported by all the LEGITIMATE media sources…

"In trying to determine why he traveled to the nation’s capital from the western part of the country, investigators also found no connection between him and the Occupy D.C. protest, according to three law enforcement officials familiar with the case."

Get over it already - he can much more likely be labeled as "one of yours" than anything else. Just like all the other nut-jobs influence by the likes of Glenn Beck to the point that they took action against their hate.
How do you deny that any of this is not true? (Well you can – and will, of course – but the facts are the facts.)...

Beck's Incendiary Rhetoric Has Motivated Threats, Assassination Attempts

This is another “circle the wagons” attempt to squelch yet another possible right-wing lunatic (or at least likely inspired by right-wing lunatics) acting out on his hate.

You're argument, Cleve,

Submitted by ant on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 4:39pm.

was that this shooter has no affiliation with the Occupy crowd, yet here they are having a moment of silence (yes, a moment of silence is an honor, try as you might to think otherwise) for a suspect in a crime. Technically, a much less violent and destructive crime than what many other OWS people have been responsible for, but a crime, nonetheless. Such sensitivity and patience for "all the facts to come in" from a side of the aisle that was ready to hang conservatives for the shooting of Gabby Giffords. Remember when we all had that 'silent vigil' for the Fort Hood shooter? No? That's because it would have been considered HONOR, genius!
Don't acknowledge your leftist credentials and then come here to talk about lies and smear campaigns. That's pathetic. Your side perfected that art.
Again, Gabby Giffords. Ramirez was just a lone nut, but the lone nut that shot Giffords was 'influenced' by heated rhetoric from the 'right-wing'. Of course! That's convenient. Karma's a bitch. You'd be laughable, if the hypocrisy wasn't so astoundingly hateful. If the right were anything like the left there would now be a massive 24/7 news campaign to hold ALL of Occupy responsible for this man and shut down their protests and any future attempts at voicing their opinions.

If you think someone that claims to be Jesus and sees Obama as the Anti-Christ holds any similarity to a typical Christian, you are proving your ignorance on the subject, and should probably just keep that massive lack of knowledge and understanding to yourself. You look stupid enough already. (Besides, I wouldn't expect an anti-Christ to be as ineffectual, bumbling, and incompetent as Obama. Someone that could twist the Scripture into lies for his benefit and holding such a reputation as the 'prince of lies' could certainly be more suave, charming, less gaffe-prone and have a much better grasp of the English language, but that's besides the point.)

So, the "he's more like one of yours" is not only wrong, but childish and pointless (but that'sthe kind of debate I'm used to from libtards). Let's look at it anyway. I've already pointed out your flaw on the Christian thing, no Christian thinks they are Jesus, some liberals think they can heal the planet and have peace 'break out everywhere' by virtue of their election, but Christians know they are flawed human beings. Besides, only a lib would be stupid enough to shoot at the White House, in an effort for 'change', while the President's away. The guy has no credentials among the TeaParty, but has been at the OccupyDC camp. Hmmm? I see how that fits in with 'us'. Not! The Occupiers think they can create 'change' through violence, conservatives try through legal means like voting, yet this guy used a gun. Huh, still not working. The guy is obviously of hispanic descent, all four of his names are typical Spanish names, but the right and TeaParties are racists that do not allow minorities in, so, how does that work?
Still playing the Glenn Beck is responsible game is sad. Have you heard the foaming at the mouth hate from Ed Schultz lately?
Okay, "Some say" he has no connection to the Occupy movement. Oh, so it MUST be true, because "some say". Like Nidal Hassan had no connection to radical Islam, he was, of course, just a lone nut job, whatever's convenient in masking the truth, but, knowing you, you probably think Hassan, the Christmas tree-bomber, etc. were 'right-wing' extremists influenced by the evil Glenn Beck.

OWS in a nutshell: State is

Submitted by Van Halen on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 7:43pm.

OWS in a nutshell: State is God. No oil. No military. Even more government spending. Illegal immigration encouraged. More government. More taxes. More abortion. Calls for violence against Jews, bankers, business owners and Republicans. Delighted with the fact that policies from Washington are designed to modify behavior and disappointed that in the last couple of years these policies have not been more forceful. Results as of this moment: Confusion, arrests, a shocked and disgusted public which sees them defecating on police cars, possessing child pornography, complaints of public masturbation, smoking dope, selling drugs, lice outbreaks, instructions on how to kill police officers, sexual assault, fighting with the police, fighting with themselves, shooting at the White House, disease outbreaks, scabies outbreaks, arson, drug overdoses, trashing everything they touch, walking around naked, having sex publicly, parents abandoning their children to join the protest, pimping/prostitution of underage kids, investing their donations in a bank, repeating en masse what they are told in strange organized rituals, spitting on military members, desecrating the American flag, getting support of Iran, North Korea, David Duke and the Nazi and Communist parties, not working, lying, cheating, stealing, and generally damaging all the businesses around them.

We have yet to see a single OWS accomplishment other than a rolling crime wave, filth, rambling nonsense, and the disgust of most everyone who is unfortunate enough to encounter them. They have not helped the community in any way. They do not get along well with anyone outside their movement, much less each other. They are destroying every place they are encamped. They do nothing positive for anyone.

That's clearly what it is. The guy is a suspect in an attempted assassination of the President of the United States. He should and will be accorded due process of law, but there's no need to mark his arrest with a "moment of silence" and "solidarity."

If you say so Ken.

Submitted by Clevenative on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 4:23pm.

And if someone in your family did something that was obviously triggered by a “mental condition” you would do what? Your family would just throw him under the bus, disown him, and act like they never knew him because of his “embarrassment”? There would be no moment of silence for his victims or show of solidarity to see that he got help?

Maybe that’s how it’s done in conservative circles – but liberals have understanding and compassion for people who are driven to such extremes. We always want to know “why?” and work to understand what makes someone do things like that in the hopes that future occurrences can be recognized and dealt with before they happen – not hang them in the gallows with pitchforks and torches coming from a raging vengeful mob that evening.

Just another example of where our ideologies will have to just ”agree to disagree”.

I don’t suppose I could get you to admit that the word “honoring” was a poor choice of words? (I didn’t think so.) I'm sure they pay you well to come up with such overblown hyperbole.

Um,

Submitted by ant on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 5:02pm.

what victims? Are you implying that Ramirez was considered part of the Occupy "family"? Why would the hold a moment of silence for a 'right-winger' and 0 victims? Unless Occupy's already tarnished reputation is the real victim.
Yeah, the left sure likes to get to the 'why' of things. Why the TeaParties? Racist hatred. Why the housing collapse? banks, not government, NO. Why secure the border? Racist. Why is Congress exempt from the health-care bill and 'insider trading'? Nothing to see here, move along. Why is unemployment still so high despite spending 100's of billions of taxpayer dollars? Oh, that's ATM's, Republicans and lazy Americans. What's this Fast and Furious deal? Nothing to see here, move along. What's with this Climate-gate info? Shut up, denier, Al Gore needs money. How is Michael Moore or Kanye West a 99%? Because. Yeah, the left are really miners for truth alright.
Here's a twofer concerning the left's search for truth and unwavering compassion. Two words, Lara Logan.
Then there was all that compassion for Rush Limbaugh's drug addiction, there's always that compassion for the over-burdened taxpayers, the compassion for the unborn, the compassion for the treatment of Christians and women in the Islamic nations, the compassion for the families of 9/11 victims in the left's support of a Ground Zero mosque, the compassion for those with cigarette habits, the compassion for the obese (along with MO's bullying-type targeting of 'larger' children, and the compassion and understanding that would prevent someone from legislating what others eat, while stuffing your own fat face, that goes for Mayor Bloomberg, too). The compassion for border agents and Mexicans killed by guns sold by our own DOJ. The compassion afforded Sarah Palin and her family. Shall I go on?

Ant - Are you playing brain-dead or just illiterate?

Submitted by Clevenative on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 7:31pm.

Like I said, “early reports” (out of Fox News of course) put this guy in the OWS camp in DC (and like I said, not surprising for any drifter).

Newsbusters managed to get their hands on one piece of footage of ONE OWS “leader” (no such thing) in San Diego alerting the crowd to the news. (“Crowd” is a poor choice of words as it is directed at a mere handful of people as there is no amplified sound system.) And yes, he obviously thought Ramirez was part of the Occupy “family” and reported it to the “crowd” as such.

You miss A LOT when you refuse to live outside the box you live in dude.

Totally brainwashed – those are the only 2 words to describe it. There is no “ClimateGate”. The whole silly charge has been long debunked and all your boogeymen cleared of any wrongdoing.

'Climategate' Debunking Gets Less Coverage Than Original Trumped-Up Scandal (VIDEO)

Compassion for Rush Limbaugh just might have been lacking due to statements he had made about locking up all drug users. It’s kind of hard to find “compassion” for such a blatant frickin’ hypocrite!

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up," Limbaugh said on his short-lived television show on Oct. 5, 1995.

Geez – how could you even “go there”?

And please – now you’re pretending it’s your concern for the victim’s families that caused the right-wing hate to blossom over the so-called and falsely labeled “Gound Zero Mosque”? Ask Anne Coulter about how much she cares about those families and the widows. The families of 9/11 victims were as split in their support as the rest of the country – and many organized in support. And if the anti-Muslim hate-mongering “Christian” bigots hadn’t stuck their nose in a community project where they didn’t belong, and drummed up the hate, there would have been no “national controversy”.

Not to bust your bubble – and who knows where you were on Sept 22nd, I suppose watching a Republican Debate candidate make a fool of themself on TV, BUT.…

So-Called “Ground Zero Mosque” Opens, World Doesn’t End

Cigarette Habits? You’re kidding me? Who do you think has always pushed hardest to stifle anti-smoking initiatives? Your Tea Party “libertarian” friends and their “think tanks” like The Heartland Institude. (Look it up) And how about this screen print from Fox News? Would You Vote For a Smoker as President?

Ditto for mocking the “Let’s Move” Program developed by First Lady Michelle Obama to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity.

Half-term Quitter Gov. Sarah Palin and her “get-rich-quick” immoral drug-using family of phony charlatans deserve all the ridicule they get.

There’s usually little to "figure out" about any of them – it’s usually all about money - and their own selfishness and greed.

I’d like you to point me to any indication showing that liberals or Dems have no compassion or support for border patrol agents. More “illegals” have been arrested under Obama than GW – the big difference is Obama is focusing on the criminals. You might have missed this last month too as I’m sure it wasn’t reported on Fox News…

I have something to do right

Submitted by ant on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 8:09pm.

I have something to do right now, so I'll be back to your idiotic BS a little later line for line, I promise. But for right now, let's consider the Rush Limbaugh deal, I'll ignore for now all the wishes for death, heart attacks, etc. aimed at him by the compassionate left. I am well aware of Rush's stance on drugs and users, I have know that for years (unlike lib robots, conservatives disagree with many points made by other conservatives, Bush's do-nothing border control is another example). So, basically, what you are saying is it's okay to belittle and/or celebrate his former drug dependency problem because of things he has said before, so the left's compassion only goes so far, as forgiveness is not an option (unless, of course, we're talking about double standards and the "do as I say. not as I do" standards of most of our Democrat politicians, those that actually make the laws you and I have to live by, Rush has no legislative power). And let's not forget the distinction between legal and illegal here, shall we. Rush was using prescription drugs, they are legal. I would not fault a police man, for example, that spent his life busting heroin dealers (illegal) who fell prey to alcoholism (legal). But, then again, I'm not a compassionate leftard.
Now try to remember, the issue is YOUR claim that the left are seekers of knowledge, compassionate and sympathetic people that just want to find the root causes of all our problems. Unless, of course, you're Rush Limbaugh, or any other conservative that hasn't reach a super-human level of perfection. Is that about right? Of course, this also depends on what weak argument you're trying to make, since at one point this 'shooter' is more akin to 'right-wingers', and we all know how you feel about them, but, at the same time, despite thefact that his intent was probably to harm someone (he hoped the President) with his bullet, you plan to fall over yourself to love him, understand him, sympathize and hopefully 'fix' him, but don't forget to distance yourself far enough away, in case he is not of your crowd, than you can say this was not a vigil, but it was because you're compassionate, but it's not because he might be a hateful 'right-winger', but it was because we want to understand him. Got it? And you wonder why conservatives don't spend more time on liberal blogs.
Would you like some examples of double standards and the "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy of Dem leaders that aren't from years ago? Or should I save those for another time?

Just read your post again

Submitted by ant on Fri, 11/18/2011 - 7:11pm.

You are truly, I have to assume, both a liar and an idiot.

1)'Announcement concerning the shooter was directed to a handful of people as their is no microphone.' What's a matter, the droning brain-dead chant system on the fritz? Of course, they thought he was part of the Occupy crowd, like you said, that's because he fits their definition of unwashed moonbat and MO of violence and rage, good point.

2) Ground Zero mosque opposition was Islamophobia meme. Again? Really? It, by the way. is not an actual mosque as previously intended, nor named Cordobba, therefore the lack of protest now. But that is besides the point, let's remember, again, this is about your claim of the lefty 'compassion, search to find truth , understanding, and sympathy, and all that'. Ya know you guys are just so open-minded and all, that's why the victims were so deserving of their fate, their evil Americans and 'little Eichmann's' anyway. Yes, compassion......for the enemy.

3) Libertarians and conservatives work to "stifle anti-smoking initiatives", is that what you meant, meathead, because that's a good thing in my book.

4) "Ditto for mocking the 'Let's Move' First Wookie initiative". That doesn't make sense and is hardly a defense. I don't know what you're trying to get at there, but you're a retard, so....

5) Sarah Palin and her family deserve all the ridicule they can get? Not much compassion from you there. Sounds more like hate. Thanks for making my point, maybe a conservative Governor or whatever could actually continue their term if they weren't constantly being hit with bogus lawsuit and bogus re-call elections. A procedure being thoroughly abused by the retarded left just because they don't like the way things went,Waaaaaaaah! Whether they like it or not these people were voted in, you don't recall someone just because their budget is shutting off your personal public money fountain. But hey, since when do libtards care about the will of the people?

6) Are you kidding me? How can you believe a Party that arms Mexican drug cartels and MS-13 street gangs has a concern for law enforcement officers? What color is the sky in your pea-brain little world? Oh yeah, border arrests are more numerous than ever! That's like "jobs saved or created", if the Obama administration said it, it MUST be true. They kept forgetting to arrest those guys they were selling guns to, for some reason. They've been telling border agents to cut down arrests and/or release them. Illegals who find themselves in court are being given 'back-door' Amensty and what are essentially working papers, The Administration sues every State that tries to uphold the law. So keep talking. If arrests actually go up, it's only to register them on the DNC voting rolls.

Yes, I do need a wheelbarrow.

I'm thinking the Secret

Submitted by dscott on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 6:23pm.

I'm thinking the Secret Service needs to double up the protection detail around Obama. If they are honoring a person who "attempted" to frighten or kill Obama then it should be also clear that they (radical liberals) are now considering that Obama has to be a martyr for their cause. Let's face it, at this point they see the writing on the wall that Obama is going to be a one term POTUS which would be a defeat for liberalism. The message is never wrong, only the messenger, thus if you get rid of the messenger then the message is preserved.

The very last thing any conservative wants is Obama as a martyr. Liberals would be insufferably self righteous more than they already are glorifying their deity (at the taxpayers expense of course) for the next 50 years.

I want him impeached for his crimes and gross incompetence. Failing that, so exposed and scandal tarnished leaving office that Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon would be seen as paragons of competence and virtue in comparison.

Secret service

Submitted by jon_torlin on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 8:02pm.

Just a curiosity, had something bothering me about this so-called shooting and then I caught up on Rush today, he had a caller that put into words about what it was that bothered me.

The caller makes the point that it was surprising that the sharp shooters, spotters and whatever around the White House would have missed this guy taking aim at the WH.  Is that possible?  After all, they are real careful about making the airspace around the WH a no-fly zone that covers a wide area and have jets/helicopters ready to meet any aircraft that might wander in the area.  Don't they have something similar on the ground?

Think about it this way, what happened to Giffords was that a nutcase was left unleashed and did what he did.  In the WH case, we have a nutcase that actually got a couple of bullets to the WH, at least according to whoever says so.  This fits in with your martyr idea.

So I'm a little suspicious about this so-called shooting of the WH.

Remember under Clinton that guy who was firing an AK-47 at the WH until a bystander tackled the jxckxss ?

I believe that Clinton and Obama both fail to realize there are nut cases out there, and that translates into the security posture they tell the Secret Service to use.

Interesting that this shooter used an assault rifle, wasn't it an AK-47 as well?  Wonder how he got a hold of it in either case.

Only thing I don't understand is I thought the Secret Service didn't take their orders from the President, but if they were told to take such posture, I'm assuming they would have done it by instruction from Nappy Janet who takes her(his?) orders from Obeyme.(kinda lost track of how they did things when DHS absorbed them from Treasury)  I might agree that Clinton might have failed to realize there are nut cases, but Obeyme comes from a background that practices martyrism through jihad or cannon fodder.  So I'm not really sure about that one.

Either way, I'm not convinced it was an accident that he got as close as he did especially after the Giffords shooting.(and may her husband rot in hell for using her as a pawn since)

Clevenative

sounds like a 16-year-old know-it-all hopped up on Jello Biafra who's never met a conservative in his life and spends far, far too much time on the Internet thinking that he's with the cool kids old enough to buy beer (ie the rich college kids at Occupy "protests"). Some of us were like that once upon a time and cringe for him.

He's nothing to get worked up over. If he actually is old enough to pay bills and be gainfully employed yet is as intellectually immature and ideologically simplistic as he is, then he deserves pity more than anything else.

Their early singles and first two LPs are excellent. Later they got boring and preachy enough so that even a 16-year-old self-described communist could tell that they preaching to the choir, and not very well, but "Holiday in Cambodia" could be the OWS theme song
