Jack Is Back: Kid Reporter Who Schooled Shuster Sits Down with Shep

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

Yesterday I posted video of Scholastic News kid reporter Jack Greenberg reminding MSNBC's David Shuster about the centrality of objectivity to journalism.:

I try to stay objective through all my work. I try to do my best not to keep a political opinion, because as a journalist I always try to balance it out with what is on the other side.

Today Greenberg chatted with Fox News Channel's Shepard Smith, who tried to find out if Greenberg is a McCain fan or prefers Obama. The junior journalist demurred:

SHEPARD SMITH, anchor: Who are you for?

JACK GREENBERG: I have to remain impartial as a journalist for Scholastic News.

SMITH: God bless you. You know what you have to do? You have to remain impartial on the air, but behind the scenes you can have whatever thoughts you want. But when some fool like me asks you that question, you just don't answer it, right?

GREENBERG: Pretty much.

SMITH: That means you are both fair... and balanced.

Predictable wisecrack

You know someone's going to say it, so here goes:

Hey, MSM, are you smarter than a 5th grader?

Disclaimer:  I don't know what grade the kid is in, but I wasn't about to pass up this line.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

9=4th

9=4th grade

Oh, for CUTE!   You

Oh, for CUTE!

You go, kid!

How is it....?

How is it that a young man who's all of 11 should know more about how to actually practice journalism than Keith "I'm a journalist" Olbermann?

It's funny to think that the year Jack Greenberg was born, Olby was a sportscaster parting ways with ESPN "under a cloud of controversy."

I'd suggest that MSNBC fire Olby and have young Mr. Greenberg do the convention coverage in his place, but unfortunately Olby's variety of hate seems to be quite lucrative for the network--enough that Meltdown Keith is comfortable actively trying to undermine Matthews, Brokaw, etc..
