You gotta love McClatchy "Truth to Power" Newspapers. Not for their reporting, but for their entertainment value. McClatchy editors last night won an MRC DisHonors Award for an October 2007 headline that bemoaned the drop in business Iraqi gravediggers saw with the drop in violence thanks to the U.S. military surge.
Now the newspaper chain is highlighting the rampant online speculation on whether a photo of Dick Cheney shows a naked woman in the reflection of the vice president's sunglasses. Yet not until deep in the article did reporters Kevin G. Hall and George Bridges render a McClatchy photo editor's verdict: the reflection in the glasses is of Cheney's hand holding his fly fishing rod.
You can't make this stuff up. (see screencap below the page break)

April 11, 2008 - 11:00 ET by pwozI love the sig. I just got into Arrested Development after a friend recommended it... why would they ever cancel that show?!!?
True dat
April 11, 2008 - 11:18 ET by jpatchArrested Development was my girlfriend's favorite show, she turned me onto watching it. Beside The Office, it has been the best TV show on in years. I have no idea why they cancelled. Too complex for the usual idiot TV watcher?
Ya, here's another chapter of the liberal playbook. It doesn't matter if the person is innocent or guilty; throw an accusation out there for a while to get everyone nice and worked up, and they'll remember the accusation, and not the fact that the person is innocent. Kinda like the reverse-O.J. No, wait...
Let's just call this the "Mike Nifong" attack. Broad brush strokes of horrific rape accusations that included racial overtones. Does anyone remember how "Whitey" was taking all the heat during that incident, especially because it was in Durham, with all of the poor blacks? They turned it into a huge racial issue, with the rich, white kids, and he poor, disenfranchised blacks. Turns out, the BLACK girl making all of he accusations was just a SKANK looking to mess up a white boys life. And our media was all too eager to instigate a race war...against "Whitey", of course.
and lets not forget, that
April 11, 2008 - 11:23 ET by red_dragon311and lets not forget, that when the black whore was found to be a liar, the story was dropped, move along, nothing to see here, these arn't the droids your looking for.
they did a close up on fox news and you can clearly see his hand holding a fishing rod.
I just liked how the fact that he was smiling, THAT was the smoking gun that poved it was a naked broad.

April 11, 2008 - 12:23 ET by CobraManPeople thought that it was a reflection of a naked lady? LOL! Only of she was a Conehead who was pointing a gun at him!
I don't know about others in the Blogosphere, but I've yet to see a woman who has a head that tapers to a point that is five times smaller than her neck. Outside of an SNL skit, that is.

Let's give a little credit to McClatchy, shall we? They exposed the reflection for what it was in the first paragraph. It wasn't "until deep in the article " like you suggest.
Via the link you provided: "WASHINGTON — He shot his hunting partner, but Vice President Dick Cheney apparently doesn't fly fish with naked women."
Two questions about the VP photo
April 11, 2008 - 14:58 ET by nkviking75Two things should have immediately occurred to anyone seeing this photo:
1) How would a naked woman get anywhere near the VP, especially at a photo op?
2) Given the media's track record of fauxtography, could this be a fake?
Too many in the MSM with too much time on their hands.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
Great questions...
April 11, 2008 - 15:24 ET by jpatchIt's gotten that far, hasn't it?
They just wanted to get that photo of Cheney out there to gin up some of that great 'ole HATE. Inducing a mouth-foaming diatribe is as easy as "Dick Cheney-Halliburton-gay marriage".
The libs love nothing more than having something to hate.
It must because they all have such, how should I say, "discriminating" tastes?

If the picture was of Al Gore, they'd say it was a reflection of his Oscar.
If it were Obama, I'd say it looks kinda like Larry Sinclair.
If it were Hillary, I'd say it looks like a sniper.
If it were John Edwards, it might be a newborn.

Another Question
April 11, 2008 - 16:35 ET by NBFIf there was a naked woman cavorting around, why would a photographer be taking pictures of Cheney?
In all seriousness, this is beyond stupid.

"As journalists, however, the word of an official spokeswoman isn't good enough."
And of course my response to that would be, "As a news consumer, however, the word of an MSM journalist isn't good enough."
