Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) took to a popular conservative blog today to issue a defense of radio host Rush Limbaugh against left-wing smear attacks. As NewsBusters has reported, Blackburn herself was the target of a "gotcha" game by MSNBC's David Shuster.
In "Why let the truth get in the way of a good story," Blackburn expressed to Red State readers her support for Limbaugh and noted her resolution before the House of Representatives to commend Rush for this dedication to America's men and women in uniform:
The vilification of Limbaugh and misrepresentation of his comments regarding his "phony soldiers" comment by the radical left is without merit and false. By reading the transcript of the show, one can see that it is clear that Limbaugh was referring to soldiers opposed to the Iraq war, who concocted fraudulent stories in order to push a left wing political agenda. An ABC World News Tonight story aired on September 24th even chronicled an instance of 23 year-old Jesse Macbeth of Seattle, who claimed to have slaughtered innocent civilians in Iraq, until it was proven that he never even finished basic training. Instead, Macbeth used this lie to become a rallying point for the anti-war liberal left.
Many politicians, seeking an opportunity to humiliate the popular conservative talk show host, took the bait. They got caught. They were quick to condemn Limbaugh for his words, but now that the truth is beginning to surface, how quickly (if at all) will they rescind theirs?
This is the second time in as many weeks that the MoveOn.org crowd has attacked conservatives without checking their facts.
There is a saying in the mainstream, drive-by media: "Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?"
But there is another, more powerful saying that has stood the test of time and is relevant today: "And the truth shall set you free."

They seek control through smearing. Rush was first since he is on top. Other conservative show hosts will follow. Blogs will be next.
Libs know who we are. We have grown rapidly over the course of the past two years focused on one position, one which has attracted many to the site including advertisers. It is very important to support advertisers, the libs will do their best to allianate them.

This whole thing is 12/7/41
October 3, 2007 - 13:14 ET by drillanwrThis whole thing is 12/7/41 for the left. Like the Imperial Japanese, the left has just managed to wake a sleeping giant they really had no idea about ... If the left believes the majority of the American public is so ignorant and stupid as to NOT see through these growing and blatant tacticts ... they are (politically) dead wrong. They keep this crap up and they will be in for a (political) nuking in 11/08 ...
And if anyone on the left wants to refute that, explain why there is only one TV/Cable news network that is "balanced", some say conservative, and it consistently wipes the floor with not only the other Cable news nets, but the alphabet media's ratings have been slipping away into the tank for years? Why are newspaper circulations way down (and no, not everyone looks for news online during the course of a busy day)? Why is the only successful talk radio conservative talk radio? No, not everyone listens to talk radio ... but it is obvious the left's audience isn't interested in gathering facts and information to back opinion ...
I'm NOT saying the whole of the nation is conservative ... I believe it's pretty much down the middle, with that area of "moderates" ... and they are usually NOT so easily lead around by the nose by either side.
But it does work..on some
October 3, 2007 - 14:05 ET by JayTeeBut, there are MSM watchers, casual walk by viewers absorbing soundbites, as they become the MSM intended victims……..…they become influenced by the Drive by’s, as they themselves walk by the evening News and vaguely recognizing there is a “Rush” eruption on the TV screen……
Then the MSM feeds them a Senate leader sound bite, and some Americans just don’t think their free press can be so Bias’ed. They Trust the Senate, they absorb the soundbites and very little else……because the MSM is feeding them very little else. It’s a crapshoot as to what you see on MSM for some people……busily leading their lives with 3.4 minutes of news absorption per week, oblivious to the boring details of what is going on ……….casual consumers of MSM propaganda …… Empty little heads waiting for someone to pour in the proper measured ingredients of Harry’s/Hillary’s/Pelosi’s/Dean’s mix of proper Democratic talking points, with artificial flavoring covering the real taste of lies.
One can only hope they are the “Minority”……..but there are “Jay Walkers” showing up on the Jay Leno show, who can’t describe a picture of a Supreme Court Justice, who think being BORKED is a Star Wars villain, who haven’t seen a news show in 8 years, unless it was CNN in on an Airport TV while they were bored waiting on a Plane…….
We are surrounded by MSM intended Victims…..who are Useless Idiots to the Marxists in our midst ….or maybe now we’re headed down Stalin’s path of Media Matters ?
Well, Stalin didn’t allow people to vote, and one can only hope these end users of MSM lies end up NOT voting.

"Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?"

Hell, Thompson has a point
October 3, 2007 - 15:44 ET by BDHell, Thompson has a point there. Limbaugh would have to drop his pants and moon a passing parade with obscene insults to soldiers tatoo'd to his cheeks to even make a dent in the situation.
Face it, the Democrat Party is home to all those who insulted the US soldiery during Vietnam and afterwards, attempted to immasculate it in the 80's and 90's, and recently attempted to surrender for the past two years in spite of continued success on the battlefield.
I mean, which party do you think former members of the SDS are registered in? The Weathermen? Fonda, Kerry, Tom Hayden etc?
