After Joy Behar’s inflammatory comments, claiming saints would be no more than mental patients in modern society, Fox News was the one of the very few major news outlets that picked it up. Other than Joe Scarborough on MSNBC, Fox News was the only news outlet that covered the Joy Behar craziness. In cyberspace, Fox News was the only major news website to report it.
Could it be that her comments were simply not newsworthy enough? Under the mainstream media’s standards with Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, they should be. On the January 11 edition of "Fox and Friends First" Steve Doocy noted Fox News’ sole voice.
"Extraordinarily, I was googling this last night. Fox News is pretty much the only outfit that is even talking about this. It’s so extraordinary."
The transcript of the brief exchange is below.
STEVE DOOCY: Yesterday, we told you, we played you a clip of Joy Behar, the day before on "The View," where she said that saints, the Catholic Church’s saints all heard those voices. Of course the saints thought they were hearing from God. But Joy Behar said that they were hearing voices because they were crazy people and there were no drugs to turn off the voices, like Thorazine and stuff like that. Extraordinarly, I was googling this last night. Fox News is pretty much the only outfit that is even talking about this. It’s so extraordinary.
BRIAN KILMEADE: They must be upset about it because I think "The View" loves to be talked about. They love being in the eye of the storm. They like saying these things because there is no ramifications for doing this. They don’t lose voices because of it.
PAIGE HOPKINS: And those crazy voices sure were the catalysts for a lot of good work for a lot of these saints, if indeed they were crazy voices which I don’t believe they were.

Saints today would be mental patients.
January 11, 2008 - 18:34 ET by Thomas HollanderConsider that Joy Behar might be right that today, Saints would all be mental patients.
Because it's obvious that the real mental patients have become talk show hosts and MSM pundits.
How can the media keep up?
January 11, 2008 - 18:36 ET by Lame CherryMr. McCarthy with Bill Clinton "fairy" Obama comments to Hillary slapping Martin King around to AG Cuomo shucking and jiving.......how can in a week the MSM keep up as at every cocktail party they hear dozens of racist, bigoted and anti semite remarks.
The MSM just can't report it all in screecher Behar to "balance" the other 99 stories out of a hundred mentioning Larry Craig when things on the GOP side get slow.
Behar is situation normal unless you have KKK Hillary bringing out the rawhide to lay a little plantation punishment on black men.

Not all that newsworthy,
January 11, 2008 - 19:06 ET by balboaNot all that newsworthy, IMO. The View is a light-hearted piece of fluff. That's just my opinion of course.
Why should we spend time talking about coffee chatter?
January 11, 2008 - 22:13 ET by vaboxrboyThe View is, and always has been casual fluff. I find it amazing that so much attention is paid to it when it's not scripted, not presented as factual or the official opinion of ABC.
PLEASE find something else to give your scrutiny too!

January 11, 2008 - 19:30 ET by bigtimerIn my view...the less said about any of this show in any venue...the better for all, especially their ratings..they get more ratings from all of the attention of their constant insane tripe.

January 11, 2008 - 21:30 ET by motherbeltYou may be right; maybe we are giving them too much credit.
Have you ever seen Behar when she cracks stuff like that? She looks around nodding and grinning, like "yeah, huh? that was a good one, huh? Didn't I get a good one in???"
That's what she's after...and she's a hero to a bunch of viewers who think Oprah is too intellectual.
I've noticed it Mother
January 11, 2008 - 21:36 ET by Cool ArrowIt's as if she wants everyone around her to celebrate her latest flatulance.

I can't believe that Joy
January 11, 2008 - 22:37 ET by CapitalismRulesI can't believe that Joy would totally disrespect a fellow entertainer like that: wasn't Val Kilmer the lead role in a move called...."the Saint?"
Moore

Double standard
January 12, 2008 - 06:35 ET by Blogger Guy00001Whenever a leftist says something racist, hateful, biased or stupid, the media ignores it. Whenever a conservative, or White, or Christian, or male is accused of saying something racist, hateful, biased or stupid, the media leap on it and give it fully-hyped coverage.
Include Glen Beck
January 12, 2008 - 09:22 ET by Cool ArrowGlen Beck also did a segment on the deeply confused Behar.

Joy, to the world, "Thorazine, anyone?"
January 12, 2008 - 10:35 ET by Ted ClarkeThis gives me a great idea! The next time I hear Joy Behar's voice, I'll smack down a dose of Thorazine and I'll be right as rain.
