In addition to his regular pundit responsibilities at Fox News and sometime column in the Wall Street Journal, Karl Rove has taken it upon himself to do the job of the MSM--reporting the news.
Yesterday, my colleague, Noel Sheppard, noted the lack of coverage of President George W. Bush's homecoming in Texas. Only Fox News was present to cover what was, in Sheppard's words (and I agree), "one of his finest speeches ever." Thanks to Fox News, we have documentary evidence of this speech.
Were it not for Karl Rove, we might not have any similar evidence of President Bush's hearty farewell at Andrews Air Force Base. From Greg Pallowitz at NRO's Media Blog, video after the jump.

Thanks Karl
January 22, 2009 - 10:42 ET by nofateThank you Karl Rove for your service and now this. It is video from a guy who used to be seated next to the seat of power in this country, now shooting with a "man in the crowd" perspective. Can it be possible that no "reputable" news service covered this at all? Not even Fox??? Remember when slick Willie left? "Huh, huh, huh (with s... eating grin on face), Boy oh boy, we sure had a good time didn't we?" and the press was falling all over itself to get a shot of the last visible moment before he disappeared into the sky. Barf.
There is no other news video of this? I'm incredulous.

January 22, 2009 - 10:54 ET by SeashellPerhaps Bush (being the class act that he is) ask that there not be any camaras allowed in order to not step on Obama's inauguration as Clinton did on his.
Hopefully, more private video will surface so we can all enjoy it.
Excellent Point
January 22, 2009 - 11:51 ET by nofateI had not thought of that. I was just being PO'd at the normal classlessness and bias of the press. And displaying a little lack of class myself.

January 22, 2009 - 16:35 ET by Travis NoodleThank you for doing the Press' job. I'm so sad to see President Bush leave office. More importantly, I'm fearful for my country.
I did watch FNC's coverage of the speech. It was on during Special Report with Bret Baier. Interestingly enough, when they cut away from the coverage of Bush's speech, Bret had a most interesting look on his face.
Does anyone know whether or not Bret Baier is a lefty?

January 22, 2009 - 17:08 ET by RR GOPHonestly, I don't remember past presidents being covered all that much once they left, but I think they did break in hours later and show a snippet of them getting off the plane or something.
Surely the high school marching bands and what the Obama women were wearing was certainly more historic anyway and important anyway.
One of the 24% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 89% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.
