Sharpton Claims New Voter Drive By Group He Leads Will Be 'Non-Partisan'

By Jack Coleman | May 22, 2012 | 22:31

A  A

More is the pity that he actually believes it.

Reputed man of the cloth and race-baiter nonpareil Al Sharpton has shown once again how he's the least credible person in media, claiming that a voter registration drive he'll oversee will be "non-partisan." (audio clip after page break)

Here's Sharpton making this dubious assertion on his radio show May 18 (audio) --

Now, I outlined it every day, I outlined it on the show last night on MSNBC. Let's remember now, five million people, five million, that's not a small number, five million people that could vote last time are in a position where they will be denied their right to vote. We are taking polls and not taking into account that a lot of people being polled will be stopped from voting in over 30 states if they do not have state photo ID. Rather than crying about it in November, we need to get out there now, turn this around where we can, or make the adjustments for people.

That is why I'm going on the road in June and dealing with this. And again, this is non-partisan. People that we help get registered and, or help adjust their ID or the states we help to change the ID, people can vote Republican, Democrat, independent. We are trying to protect the right to vote. But we are going to finance this ourselves with new members joining and that's where that is going to be committed to.

Gee, how could Republicans in waiting resist a pitch like that, especially coming from a man who only a day earlier fumed that the GOP has engaged in a "long history of fear and smear," who claimed earlier this month that Republicans declared a "war on black people," you said in January that Republicans are beholden to their "extreme white wing," and who has blamed those racist, warmongering, fear-spreading Republicans for high jobless rates among blacks.

Just the man you want handling voter registration forms filled out by Republicans, right? Nah, didn't think so.

In addition to registering new voters, the Sharpton-led National Action Network will recruit new members and push back against voter ID and stand your ground laws in nearly 20 states.

On Sharpton's "PoliticsNation" show Friday night on MSNBC, Sharpton described how GOP Senator Lindsey Graham, among then-President Clinton's fiercest critics during the Lewinsky scandal, offered abundant praise for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that day at a Washington symposium.

"Tonight, new signs that old wounds can heal," Sharpton said. "And we can all be friends." (link to video clip)

After showing footage of Graham's remarks, which ended with Graham and Clinton hugging, Sharpton said this --

See, it doesn't have to be ugly. It doesn't have to be personal. Let's get something done for the country. Let's not make it so personal we can't get along. In that spirit, I'm calling one of the people I fought with in public and let's go to dinner next week. Doesn't matter what name you called me, what name I called you. Let's show we can get along. Let's be bigger than that. Let's sit down and break bread together. Of course, you bring your credit card. You're paying.

There you have it -- "non-partisan" while leading voter drives and what passes for magnanimity toward opponents.

Was this Sharpton's "Trayvon" message?

What does that mean, to help adjust their ID? or the states we help to change the ID?

This is what happens when a lying racist doesn't get ---

Submitted by matthewdean on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 11:06pm.

called out for being a lying racist.

The lies get bigger and longer; and the bullsh*t gets wider and deeper.

As far as I'm concerned, those in opposition to Sharpton's methods who could not, or worse, would not, muster the courage to refute this lying sack of shit can now choke on the crap he spews.

The liberals and Democrats who have encouraged this partisan hackery while snickering behind the scenes, or by ignoring Sharpton and his chicanery because it suited their cause, may just get a taste of this kind of treatment when the soulless bastard turns on them.

And he will.

Failure to curb this egomaniac's behavior in the way of prevarication has ensured that he will henceforth deem himself untouchable and bulletproof.

The sky is now the limit on his lies.

A Question...

Submitted by packman on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 8:26am.

Seeing as how Al Sharpton doesn't pastor a church, just exactly what the hell is he a "Reverend" of? Anyone can get a "Reverend" title easily over the internet these days, so this moniker that always seems to be attached to him by the MSM is puzzling. As far as I am concerned Sharpton's race-baiting antics are anything but "reverent."

Non-partisan

Submitted by Nonanon on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 8:34am.

I think this is lib-speak. He only said it would be non-partisan. He didn't say it would be non-ideaological. He will register everyone who will vote liberal, be they D, R, or I.

This may not be expressed the best way, but it seems like those who are doing wrong or trying to hit the gutter are always claiming to want to get along with their opponents. After all, they really don't have any deadlines to hit on the downward slope, just keep sliding. But if you are trying to do the right thing, these kinds of distractions work to stall or derail you.

Now you're getting it, Non!

Submitted by Newsbubba on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 10:48am.

Da Rev say it gone be a non-party-son regeristration, and dat "people can vote Republican, Democrat, independent."

It's simple.  They register LIVE liberal democrats, be they legal or "evolving," and register DEAD Republicans in even larger numbers!!  That way it is non-partisan.

Of course, the Republicans will need a little help filling out the request for an absentee ballot, and more help actually voting it, but I have no doubt that the majority of them will end up "seeing the light" and "crossing over" to vote for Obama.

You just have to know how to interpret what these morons are actually saying.

Pay your back taxes, Reverend Sharpton. Pay your fair share.

Submitted by Galvanic on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 9:45am.

He reportedly owes the IRS $1.6 million, and his National Action Network is reportedly $800,000 in arrears on its employer contributions to Social Security.

This blowhard is screwing working people while he's demanding that rich people pay their "fair share."

But MSM never exposes this charlaton. Are they afraid of him?

Galvanic, they're not just afraid, they're petrified of him.

Submitted by SickofLibs on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 10:22am.

That's why they always address him as reverend.

I would also point out as further proof that he is the only one over there to never have been chastised, warned, censured, suspended, whatever, for his outrageous conduct.

Contrast him with poor Olby (who they used to say ran the network), who was publicly disciplined for making a few political contributions, while this cretin is not only allowed to go out and organize marches and boycotts, but they let him do it ON THE AIR and even publicize it.

And as you pointed out, even the IRS is afraid of him. The little people who have disputes with the IRS get their assets frozen and their paychecks garnished, THEN they negotiate with the IRS.

Da Rev is untouchable only because of his skin pigmentation, and he's playing it for all it's worth. That's what hustlers do.

"Race Pimp" Al has no idea what 'Non-Partisan' means.

Submitted by John21 on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 10:38am.

"Race Pimp" Al has no idea what 'Non-Partisan' means.

He like to portray himself as a liberal but even liberal have some values (Low) but the "Race Pimps" only loyalty is to his bank account and his ego. He will gladly do whatever is asked of him if the reward is high enough and he can keep it on the down low. He will insult and lie about anyone and anything for the right price.
He is obviously not exactly bright (stupid) and yet he is very rich and influential, how did that happen? It isn't by being a fake Reverend. It isn’t because he is so successful in his civil rights effort (never having won any of his cases Ms. Brawley, Duke, Martin)? Lord knows he is highly over paid by the Obama propaganda media for a very bad program. I am sure that the administration is sliding a little fee under the table to him to keep everyone thinking about race rather than the administrations incompetence.
