Lefty Media Blame Tebow for Broncos' Inaction on Anti-Bullying Campaign
Recently, nearly 8,000 fans have petitioned the Denver Broncos to participate in an online campaign against the bullying of gay teens. But the team has declined to join "It Gets Better," saying it is already, "committed to tolerance, acceptance and respect for all in the community."
But that wasn't enough for liberal media like the Huffington Post - they are intent on blaming their favorite punching bag, Christian quarterback Tim Tebow for the team's decision.
The "It Gets Better" project is an online project against gay teen bullying that resulted from a string of highly publicized gay teen suicides in 2009. The project, headed up by notoriously vile gay sex columnist Dan Savage, is a collection of YouTube videos submitted by those that wish to encourage bullied teens to hang in there. The project boasts such famous names as Ke$ha, Senate Democrats and even Barack Obama.
Tebow is the "miracle" quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He began the season on the bench, but after the Broncos' abysmal start, Tebow took over at QB, and has brought the team to 8-6, winning seven of the last nine games with him in the pocket, and a shot at the playoffs. His unconventional style as a quarterback and his outspoken evangelical Christianity have made him a hot topic in not only the sports world, but in religious and cultural circles as well. Jokes like "You can't lose when you've got JC in the pocket!" have permeated sports radio talk stations the nation over.
The secular left and media have ridiculed the former Heismann Trophy winner's faith since he was in college, playing with Bible verses scrawled in his game-day eye black. Then he appeared in a pro-life commercial with his mother that aired during Super bowl XLIV in 2010. The ad, tame in comparison to the pre-broadcast furor it caused, was sponsored by the socially conservative group, Focus on the Family.
Gay activists suspect Tebow's involvement with Focus on the Family is the reason he and the Broncos will not participate in this anti-bullying campaign.
"Last year, Tebow produced a Super Bowl ad for anti-gay, anti-choice Evangelical group Focus on the Family, and given the group's anti-LGBT slant, folks have been curious about Tebow's personal views on gay issues, bullying being just one of them," wrote Andy Towle at Towleroad.com.
But if the Broncos know anything about the man behind "It Gets Better," the team may be avoiding the campaign for other reasons. Savage, the raunchy sex columnist and gay advocate, is a bully himself: Savage is the man responsible for the "Google bomb" of Rick Santorum, attaching a vile sex term to the presidential candidate's name for his opposition to gay marriage. Savage has a history of attacking conservatives and anyone who publicly disagrees with his view on homosexuality and gay marriage.
Still, to liberals and the media, it must be Tim Tebow and his allies on the sinister Christian right that are keeping the Broncos on the campaign's sidelines.
The anti-Christian, anti-Tebow bias lives on.

I doubt most Americans will buy their illogic
Submitted by Galvanic on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 5:41pm.
It seems that beyond the MSM, most Americans are either favorable or neutral on Tebow, who is even described by critics as a gentleman and community-minded athlete. He's inspired many to join him in community charity activities.
Does anyone really think that Tebow would advocate the bullying of any children, gay or straight?
Oh,right. <rolls eyes>

Because Tim Tebow wields all the power with the Broncos now.
Nothing gets done without Timmy's approval. And you know those Christians...they're in favor of bullying gays!

Adam Lambert and his boyfriend got arrested for fighting at a Finnish Gay Bar. So what do the morons at the Huff-ington and Puff-ington Post think? That incident is Tim Tebow's fault? Probably. And I do stress that the huff and puff verbage is purely no pun intended for my comment.
Elway?
Submitted by Model850 on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 5:58pm.
Doubtless John Elway has more say in what goes on with the Broncos than Tebow does.
So why aren't they questioning whether or not it is Elway, who is Mormon, who is "opposed" to supporting their little PR program? After all Mormonism "is firm on its position condemning homosexuality as sinful behavior."

I think you might be conflating John Elway with Steve Young.
Point taken, though, about him having more say than Tebow -- he and the rest of the executives would be the ones to make the decision, not the players.

Possibly. I could have sworn I read somewhere that Elway is a Mormon but now I can't find anything but speculation about it.
If he is Mormon it would appear that he is pretty quiet about it. Oh well.
Decline to be a part of a controversial organization
Submitted by OxyCon on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 6:02pm.
It's as simple as that. Savage has a demonstrable history of saying and doing unsavory and controversial things, along with bullying people and organizations.
The Broncos should release a simple statement saying "We refuse to be bullied into supporting a controversial group created by a controversial and unsavory person who has a long history unsavory behavior".
Let the Leftist media defend the repulsive Savage, and let the American people see what kind of disgusting behavior the Leftist media endorses.

But reach out to Dan personally and invite him to pretend to be Tom Brady at practice in case the Broncos play the Pats again.
All liberals bully gays

The only gays the liberal media and organizations defend are those who are severely brainwashed liberals. To American liberals, a conservative gay is evil and deserves to die. They think that about all conservatives.

The HuffPo article reminds me

The HuffPo article reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer volunteered to take part in an AIDS walk but declined to wear the ribbon. According to the "ribbon bullies", walking wasn't enough--if he didn't wear the ribbon, too, then clearly he didn't care about AIDS victims.

These people are sick. Really sick. Tebow is a scholar and a gentleman, and one hell of an athelete, and all they can do is attempt to bully him into doing what they want him to do.
Ain't gonna happen, a$$holes. He's more of a man than you are a human.

hate in vogue
Submitted by lotr on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 10:54pm.
Folks, let's be quite clear here. The pop media despise Tim Tebow not merely because of his Jesus freak antics, but ALSO because his mother didn't abort merely because a pro-abortion doctor said so. Like Sarah Palin, they despise him for it because it blows the lid off their prime cover stories for Abortion On Demand, namely the fetal defect and mother's health ruses...
How do you define "pop media", and how are you able to

speak with such ostensible authority about its perceived animus toward Tebow and, moreover, confidently identify the salient cause of this putative hatred to be the discomforting fact that he wasn't aborted.
And how can the author of some of the most brilliant, compelling and tightly-reasoned arguments posted on this website harbor such an unambiguously cynical, remarkably damning, but highly speculative view. Or do you have tangible, corroborative evidence to share?

Pop-media: The popular media in general.
To be honest, it was a NB blog that gave me this insight as to what was termed "Tebow Derangement Syndrome" (TDS). That blog referred to another online aptly titled "My Tim Tebow Problem" that was subsequently removed, presumably due to its outright offensive content. In the screen capture of the original post, the author himself, in discussing his "Tim Tebow problem," refers to what I "confidently identify" as one of the salient reasons behind TDS.
Working off that, I connect the dots. I mean, Tim Tebow is a household name beyond his merely being a quarterback in the NFL. Why do you suppose that may be? The incessant mocking betrays an underlying hatred by certain elements out there, hatred that I haven't seen since... well, Sarah Palin. And the hatred against Sarah Palin, some of it even specifically directed against her baby with Down's Syndrome (the thoughts of which utterly disgust me), leads me to ponder "what is the common psychology behind this manifest hatred"? And understanding human nature, myself being a human being, I come to the conclusion iterated above.
I apologize for the harshness and broad brush accusations, but as you might be able to imagine, if I am somewhat convinced in this conclusion, even if it's speculative, I am also somewhat agitated by it, and this may very well have come out in my post. Fortunately, good people like who you venture into the "snake's pit" here help keep people like me from getting too caught up in their own speculations.
Teens shouldn't be pressured to identify as gay or straight
Submitted by yabkpjo on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 11:48pm.
The problem I have with "It Gets Better" is that it puts pressure on teens to declare their sexual orientation before they're even sure of it themselves (development of sexuality is an evolution, not just an "on" switch).
I also find the extremely narrow focus on sexuality as relates to bullying offensive - kids bully each other over anything that makes them different from each other (height, weight, glasses, acne, etc). The root cause of bullying is immaturity, which no amount of attention by liberals will ever eliminate.
Tebow Should An "It Gets Better" Ad For Christians
Submitted by Blue Collar Todd on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 11:15am.
If Tebow and the Broncos do an “It Gets Better” ad, it should be one about how it gets better for Christians. It could have Tebow talk about his life with missionary parents, being home schooled, and his mother actually choosing life for him, and then end with a highlight from a Bronco game where Tebow makes a big play. Then the video goes back to Tebow, and he says, “It gets better”. Time to take a stand against Christian bullying in America.

It's not about bullying gays,

It's not about bullying gays, but an excuse to attack Christians. Let's see those same bastards go to any Muslim country and complain about the persecution of gays. They won't because this is nothing more than an anti-Christian campaign.
