Networks Ignore Jamie Foxx’s Verbal Attack on Miley Cyrus

  • Bookmark and Share

The 41-year-old Oscar winner Jamie Foxx dished out some disgusting advice for Disney teen sensation Miley Cyrus, telling her to, among other things, “make a sex tape and grow up.” This tasteless “advice” coming from the father of a teen to a sixteen year-old girl didn’t seem to outrage anyone at ABC, CBS, or NBC.

“The Foxxhole,” Jamie Foxx’s weekend radio show was the forum for a discussion of what makes an artist respectable. Foxx and his co hosts suggested that famous pop idol Miley Cyrus could gain respect as an artist if she would “make a sex tape and grow up... get like Britney Spears and do some heroin... do like Lindsay Lohan and get some crack in your pipe... catch Chlamydia on a bicycle seat.”

As if the “advice” wasn’t enough, Foxx also made fun of Cyrus’ appearance. To assure himself that he had identified the correct Cyrus, Foxx asked his co host, “The one with all the gums? She gotta get a gum transplant… s**t. Uh, uh, let me get an order of mouth, light on teeth, uh heavy on the gum.”

The network morning shows that had been so quick to cover the Don Imus controversy back in April of 2007 didn’t make one mention of the weekend attack. Back in 2007, Al Roker of NBC’s Today Show called for Imus to be fired for his passing racial comment about the African American Rutgers Women’s Basketball Team. CBS did eventually fire Imus for his "racial slur." This time around, silence.

Foxx did apologize to Cyrus on the April 14th broadcast of the “Tonight Show,” but blamed his comments on the fact that he is a comedian who can sometimes take it too far. Here is the exchange between host Jay Leno and Jamie Foxx:

LENO: “What’s going on with you and Miley Cyrus… did you say something inappropriate?”

FOXX: “Yeah, I, I so apologize to her, and, and this is sincere, because I, I am a comedian and you guys know that whatever I say, I don’t mean any of it.”

     LENO: “Right.” (Audience laughs)

FOXX: “And sometimes as comedians as we do, we go a little bit too far … we’re really the black Howard Stern. And so you know, we go at everybody. There was situation with Miley Cyrus and I just want to say I apologize for what I said. I didn’t’ meant it maliciously, and you know, I’m a comedian … Miley, I apologize … I want to nip it in the bud …its just jokes.”

Neither Fox’s personal attack nor revolting advice to the young girl was enough to warrant even a brief mention of the controversy for the network morning shows, let alone a call for his removal as host of the radio show. Apparently, CBS, NBC, and ABC were too preoccupied with segments about the new White House pooch and eco-friendly dinner parties to stick up for the young star.

Jamie Foxx:  No class, all a$$

They might say "Wow, that sucks!"  But at least they'll say "Wow!"  -Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes

now---not so much

I was intrigued by the reviews of Jamie Foxx's new movie, "The Soloist," but now, not so much. On the up side, Jay Leno is in the perfect position to start an Apology Show. Just think of the potential guest line up!

get 'em while they're hot

HEY JAMIE-- you DO have the internet porn video of your daughter? If you don't, send me your email and I'll forward it on. My my, did you teach her to do all those things yourself? She is one nasty b$tch!!

It's my opinion...

...that there are many of his co-workers who would not have apologized. I give him credit for doing that, although a personal apology would be more meaningful.

Healthcare...Food...Education...Housing... - What sprouted as free for some is maturing into a free-for-all.

Karma, how about having the

Karma, how about having the decency to not make porn and chlamydia jokes about a 16-year-old girl in the first place?

That is so far out of bounds, yet that is standard liberal humor: make vile and personally derogatory  comments and then yell "Just kidding!!"

They might say "Wow, that sucks!"  But at least they'll say "Wow!"  -Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes

It is too late for him to

It is too late for him to have the decency to not make the comments in the first place. Don't misunderstand me as defending his disgusting remarks. I'm defending his right to sincerely apologize. This is a rare action from the left. Just my opinion.

Healthcare...Food...Education...Housing... - What sprouted as free for some is maturing into a free-for-all.

This is what separates

This is what separates adults from 5-year-olds: knowing not to spew out whatever pops into your head at any given moment - especially when you're on TV!

His "apology" is nothing more a pitiful attempt at damage control, Obama style.

Apology NOT accepted. "I'm a comedian first" is the lamest excuse I ever heard. He should grow up.

Apologies

Agreed. If Foxx had apologized directly to the girl, that would suggest he was actually sorry for shooting off his mouth. Instead, he didn't have the class to do that, so he settled for the celebrity apology on the Leno show ... which is nothing more than a publicist's formality.

Is it the anonymity of a microphone? Or is it the excuse that he's just doing comedy? What gives people the illusion that they can vomit disrespect and not be responsible?

I guess we're all fodder for them.

And Miley hears of his

And Miley hears of his apology third-hand, from someone who saw it.  And he never actually apologized to her personally...it was to the audience for "what he said" and claiming "you know I don't mean any of it."

They might say "Wow, that sucks!"  But at least they'll say "Wow!"  -Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes

If you are a comedian then

If you are a comedian then say something that has some humor value to it.

And based on their careers now...I would steer clear of anything Britney or Lindsay does.

Fairness in Disney

To be fair, Disney does have an abyssmal track record with little girls. Brittney Spears has a sex tape or three and the biggest media trailor trash story running. Christina Aquillera looks like the poster child for surgical plastic and prostitution. What are the chances that Miley won't go a step further than her nude underage Vanity Fair photo shoot and slip out a video with the Naked Brothers Band in a couple years? ...and seriously, her gums are HUUUUUUUUGGEEE!!

http://www.americanw...

? So you're for a

? So you're for a pre-emptive strike?

Or should we wait a few years for when, or if, Cyrus is stupid enough to make a sex tape and it goes viral?

And believe me, I'm no Disney fan... their track record does suck.

Edit: I forgot, her father is an effing moron, too.

Missed Point

I think he missed the point:  I take Foxx at his word that he'd not hate Cyrus if she followed in Speares' footsteps.  I think he meant that Britney only became more palatable when she dropped the "I'm a proud virgin" routine and went slut and nut.  See, liberals don't have to worry about the crazy sluts and drug abusers.  Its those misguided Bible thumpers who are the real danger, or didn't you read the memo from the Home Land Security department?  --- If Disney has a track record of breaking those types, I think Foxx' statement shows he'd prefer it...

The other participant of Britneys sex tape

...Justin Timberlake is a great Disney success,

He had relations with her when she was still hot, dated Cameron Diaz, countless models and is a Superstar making millions without any major negative publicity

Most men that say they would not love to trade places with Timberlake is lying.

He had my vote

Double Standard

Yep, and Justin Timberlake is the exception to the rule. It's the common curse of childhood stardom. It's a very common meme and not always isolated to Disney. The big differences between Brittney Spheres and Justin Trousersnake are drugs and genetalia. I'm sure he's getting twice as much leg as Brittney is...and that's perfectly okay in this society, right? Manwhore=win, Womanwhore=lose?

Anyway, it's a common childhood star stereotype he's making a joke about.

http://www.americanw...

common childhood star stereotype...

That includes the mocking of the kid's gums and teeth? Or is this ala carte?

Sorry, Aak, I'm just not getting your take on this. My daughter is the same age, and show-biz or not, I'd kick this prick's ass if he publicly insulted my kid like he did.

Peace out.

I wouldn't say it is a double standand

Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, Julia Roberts went through their share of men, they have been under the microscope as bad.

No one has done dumber things to attract attention like Britney Spears.

Its the DUI's, Police coming over to her house, the custody battles.

Timberlake is a  mega successful star that has plenty of money and plenty of babes.

And it's all because they

And it's all because they started out with Disney?

Oh, please.

Sex a hallmark of maturity?

Why is it liberals always believe sex - especially uncontrolled, random, uncommitted sex - is the hallmark of maturity?

I was raised to believe that sex had a purpose and a place (marriage) and that the sign of a mature, responsible person was not hopping from bed to bed making sex tapes, but practicing self control, self restraint, and personal responsibility.

Today's liberals not only believe in childish instant gratification, but in blaming the other and punishing the other for their mistakes (i.e., abortion, or conservative attitudes toward sex and birth control).

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

when...

When your sex organs are your god, then you have nothing else but narcissism which is the definition for most liberals. Its amazing to me the depths liberals go to destroy religion because it puts something else higher than their own self pleasure. To them, that's wrong. They don't understand commitment, selflessness, sacrifice. They do understand lust, self-gratification and Obama. One cannot be truly happy without understanding that service to others and a higher power is what life is about.

Something to think about

Why is it liberals always believe sex - especially uncontrolled, random, uncommitted sex - is the hallmark of maturity?

The parents of the Baby Boomers defeated evil and tyranny in WWII; the Baby Boomers rolled around in the mud at Woodstock.  Guess which one is constantly crowing about itself and putting itself on a pedestal?

Respecting choices

"I was raised to believe that sex had a purpose and a place (marriage)
and that the sign of a mature, responsible person was not hopping from
bed to bed making sex tapes, but practicing self control, self
restraint, and personal responsibility."

If that is the way you choose to live your life it is very admirable. Self sacrifice  and self control is a good thing, but why some folks feel the need to judge other peoples lifestyles?.

Some people find lots of pleasure in having different partners before they settle on someone they marry and would regret it, if they married the first person they slept with, I do not see why these people should be judged, just like I do not believe libs should judge people that save themselves for marriage.

He had my vote

yeah but

When the only thing you see on tv are self-absorbed media hounds hopping from one bed to another, its hard to counter that example set for your children. Kids see that and think its normal to change sex partners like you change socks. Its not so much we want to judge those, as to not have them an example for our kids.

Agreed AJB.....

However, I have always advocated that parents should be in control of what their children watch on tv. There are plenty of tools out there like the v-chip.

I probably would say that networks for local programing that we can get over free airwaves should be responsible for putting racy shows on, probably after 10 pm or at least 9pm, parents are still ultimately responsible for what our kids watch on tv.

non-judgementalism is a sure sign of immaturity

Morals and ethics have been developed empirically over thousands of years. Some things work well for society and some things don't. Random libidinism does not work well. There is ample historical proof. The AIDS 'epidemic' is one very obvious negative result of your type of worldview towards ones pre-marital date/partner.

"I do not see why these people should be judged, ..." Apparently you have not grown up yet otherwise you would not take such a cavalier view of male/female relationships. To cheapen your female date/partner/friend by using her as a surrogate for masterbation is both immature and damaging to her.

I'm not totally condeming pre-marital sex, just particularly casual sex. Hormones tend to rule when you're "in love." I understand that. However, treating your partner like a sex aid is culturally negative.

wizard

My biggest voting issue above all others is "personal freedoms" This includes conservative freedoms, prayer in school "not forced", the right be successful on the radio without someone putting in the fairness doctrine.

Sure, someone can disapprove of someones religious stance or Rush Limbaugh, but there is a difference between judging and disapproving,

Judging is basically saying someone is wrong and it is black and white.

Somethings are black and white, but sex is a grey area. Sexual disease like Aides are 98 percent with condoms. Yeah Yeah, I know abstnence is 100 percent, but again its not your place to judge anyone

He had my vote

disapproving is more black

disapproving is more black and white than judging - which could go either way and many shades in-between

government is the communists capitalism

While I respect the fact

While I respect the fact that you do not judge those who believe in sexual morality, I guess I see neither the logic nor the need behind what can only be described as libertine attitudes toward sexual behavior.

Some "folks feel the need to judge other people's lifestyles" because some behavior is wrong.  Not only wrong, but dangerous.

There are undoubtedly many things "some people find lots of pleasure in" - does that mean we are obligated not to question, criticize or judge those things?

Lots of people find pleasure in smoking, yet it is an activity treated as a pariah and subject to sin taxes.

Lots of people enjoy drinking themselves into a blind stupor, do we have to nod and let them get behind the wheel of their car and drive?

Some people get lots of pleasure in assaulting (sexually or otherwise) another human being, do we have to turn a blind eye to this as well?

When the self becomes the barometer of morality, we enter into dangerous territory where consent is the sole criterion of the good and we risk even having consent as a protection between what one does and does not want to engage in.

Promiscuous sexual behavior is detrimental, not only to the individual procuring sexual acts, but to each and every person he or she sleeps with.  For women, promiscuous sex without committment has - studies show - harmful to their mental well-being.  It also exposes both men and women to the possibility of sexually transmitted disease, including fatal ones like HIV/AIDS.

It's wrong and stupid of our culture to condone taking such risks with one's health - physical and mental.  It also lends to the decay of the family and the respect of women (how many stories of women or their children being beaten/killed by live-in boyfriends do we hear these days?).  Even a 2% risk with condoms is still a risk that is not to be taken lightly.

A great many of today's cultural problems - be they economic, political, or social - are born out of this idiotic desire not to "judge" anyone or anything.

It's high time we stopped not judging and started being more vocal about such issues.

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

personal freedoms and consentual sex

" Lots of people enjoy drinking themselves into a blind stupor, do we
have to nod and let them get behind the wheel of their car and drive?"

When you drink and drive you put people you don't know at risk. consentual sex between 2 people is between two people

"Some people get lots of pleasure in assaulting (sexually or otherwise)
another human being, do we have to turn a blind eye to this as well?"

You are hurting someone against their will, so only the person doing the hitting is guilty of hurting someone against their will, when you force someone to have sex that is considered rape and not consentual

"For women, promiscuous sex without committment has - studies show -
harmful to their mental well-being.  It also exposes both men and women
to the possibility of sexually transmitted disease, including fatal
ones like HIV/AIDS."

Some people want to have sex with more than one partner, it is not a big deal. Condoms are very effective. People want the freedom to drive, not everyone uses seat belts, but the ones who do are statiscially more safe. People should not stop driving different cars because of the off chance of an accident.

He had my vote

He is racist

His racist rant is typical.

He doesn't like Miley's gums?

Coming from a guy with teeth like a baboon, that's rich.

Did I mention that he's black?

There is only one underlying reason that the networks did not cover this story. They are not racists. To be critical of Mr. Foxx might make them appear to be intolerant.

Adult/black/guy-on-teenage/wh

Adult/black/guy-on-teenage/white/girl insults.

It's a whole new category to ignore.

If his tirade had been directed, at say, Selena Gomez, the other Disney tweenstar, you can just imagine the outrageously outraged outrage.

No-talent AA comic

Foxx is another no-talent a-hole. He owes his entire career to affirmative action in the entertainment industry.

Jamie did get his inspiration

from his messiah, Barack, who made a crack about Jessica Simpson's weight.

Jamie

I could say something about someone having a mouth full of mule teeth....

So Foxx is sterile, too.

Well, that's an upside!

I think Jamie Foxx and

I think Jamie Foxx and Michael Richards should do some sort of Odd Couple comedy routine.

Double Standard

And when Miley does a silly facial expression distorting her eyes, she's called racist and it's all over the MSM.  Does anyone see the double standard here?

Fair Game

Miley Cyrus is white and openly Christian and her father is a white male country music singer.  Of course she's fair game.

Not only is she fair game, but as our Home Land Security department just reminded us, she should be attacked vehemently because of the danger her type present our democracy.

And the media should definately not make a big deal out of what Foxx says - unless they want to pile on.  See.  It's just like with Palin and Joe the Plumer --- all white people and conservatives, by the way, so again, a threat to all we hold dear...

People like this, the pale skinned Christian coalition types, stand in the way of progress.  Palin threatened to siphon off female votes and  Joe the Plumber had the audacity to  question the value of the change Obama hoped to carry out if elected.   Clearly, it was the media's job to protect the country by destorying these people to prevent them from interfering with progress toward a better nation.

The same was true of Paula Jones.  She was so obviously white trash, probably enjoyed Tea Bagging too, and caused a serious threat to Clinton's ability to implement his policies.  She had to be ridiculed in even the most base manner by the press itself to prevent her from damaging the progress our society was finally making with a Democrat in the White House after 12 years of neo-Nazi, I mean, neo-conservative rule.

As Anderson Cooper and Schuster just proved yet again, to go long with John Stewart, Foxx wasn't just acting as a comedian, he was speaking as the conscience of our nation.

If you let popular people like Britney Speares get away with advocating abstinence, as she once did and was ridiculed for the press and entertainment industry, or Palin have downs syndrome babies, who knows where the hell it will lead....

....the next thing you know, it will be like the Civil Rights and feminist movement never happened.

......These people must be attacked - whether it is through comdey, the op-ed page, MSNBC, and other straight news coverage.  --- Our civil liberties are at stake.....they could be no higher calling....

(Wasn't Al Jolsen a comedian too?  ....but I digress....)

Typical

Good example of"do as I say don't do as I do"this is what the left is truly about. The left doesen't want to get along with anyone that disagrees with them, sound familire? So will they call for Foxx to be fired....nooooooooooo,he will be allowed to apologize and move on.We have all knowen people like this, now we have a nation full of them and there running the country.

Turnabout

Reverse the races of the comedian and the subject of the "joke" and tell me how this would have played out.  We'd still be sitting through the 12 part CNN special...

Billy Ray Cyrus

If Billy Ray Cyrus would put aside his calm demeanor and Christian decency for a minute, he should kick the s**t out that bas***d.

Forgive me, but I'm mad.

So lets use Foxx's logic.....

...that hey he's a comedian and nothing he says should be taken seriously anyway right? Remember Michael Richards? Yea he was a comedian too except he used the dreaded N word in his routine. Anyone heard from him since? I say, hey Jamie your full of $hit! You wouldn't even be groveling on Leno if you didn't have a new movie coming out. Too bad to because I think you've come a long way as an actor. You need to grow up and stop calling teenage girls things like White Bitch just because you're on satellite radio and can get away with it!

When people point out that

When people point out that "legacy admissions" in colleges are just as unfair as admissions based on race, racists who hide behind conservatism like to say that it "isn't the same thing because only Race Based Preferences are against the law". Despite the stunning stupidity of such a view point which totally neglects the fact that at least the minority NEEDED the help while the lazy son of a rich guy DIDN'T, they persist.

Well choke on it now. Imus got fired because what he said was RACIST not because what he said was "demeaning", "nasty" or "not in good taste".

Fox apologized directly to Miley whom he also promised to call. He knows her and Imus didn't know any of the "nappy headed ho's" which is a racist attack NOT a joke. MANY comedians have opined that sloth and excess are the way to jump start a career as a vapid celebutard, this is nothing different. Get over it.

Sorry Wrong Act.....

....Fox said on his program that he really didn't even know who she was. And it's Ok with you that he had people on her show calling her names like "white bitch"? Imus got what was coming to him (courtesy of Media Matters), and I know his show is on Satelite radio with stuff 10 times as rauchy as that but you know he wouldn't have apologized at all were it not for his new movie being released this weekend.

Pssssst <whispers> Emperor Barry isn't wearing any clothes!

When it comes to comedians,

When it comes to comedians, I don't have a high expectation of them shying away from the taboo and the Sacred.

I did think Michael Richards' calling those men niggers during his act that one night to be hateful and offensive, and not funny at all.  I don't think he was even trying to be funny, but was quite angry...or drugged up or something.

Jamie Foxx and company's comments towards Cyrus was equally offensive and racist.  But, this crew didn't seem angry at all and were rather nonchalant about what they were saying.

The interesting thing is that in spite of these celebrities pretending to be all Liberal and open-minded, hugging and kissing each other, all smiles, partying together---deep down inside there's all sorts of racism going on.

These are exactly the kinds of things people say to each other when they're with others of their own race. Why we pretend that this isn't so is beyond me.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

"Right..."

So Foxx - how's your hollywood career lately?  When's your next starring role in a movie?

Excuses...

I'm glad that he did apologize, but let's get real. Being a comedian does NOT give you the right to not use discretion. You go after everybody? Please. Here's the thing, I know Miley's a big deal and all, and she's got to be prepared to get slammed every once in a while - it seems like that's what comes with fame these days. Honestly, though, Jamie Fox's comments were totally out of line. Especially if he has a teenage daughter! Wow. That's incredibly insensitive. I think it's right for him to apologize, but that apology seemed pretty lame, hiding behind the excuses of being a comedian. I wonder how much better our world would be if we all swallowed our pride and owned up to the things we do wrong... no excuses... especially when we hurt somebody. And how great would this place be if we didn't rip people apart and tried being happy for one another and encouraging each other every once in a while.
