Compare the Pictures: Day One DNC vs. Day One RNC at the LAT

The pro-Obama and pro-Democratic bias at the Los Angeles Times has been very well documented here at NewsBusters. (See here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here - for starters.) Here's some more. Look at how the Times covered day one of the Democratic convention versus day one of the Republican convention:

Tuesday, August 26, 2008, following day one of the DNC: The headline is "Obama is cast as an everyman: His wife portrays him as a symbol of America's promise; a Senate lion calls him a leader for a new era" (click to see the image). A flattering, full-color, 36-square-inch photo of Michelle Obama and her children graces the top of the front page. Inside: Three pages of coverage with five more photos (4 color, 1 b&w), including a huge 79-square-inch, full-color photo taken during Ted Kennedy's address.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008, following day one of the RNC: The top-of-the-page headline is "GOP wasn't expecting this challenge: McCain's campaign is shaken up by the announcement that his running mate's teen daughter is pregnant" (click to see the image). A small color photo of Bristol Palin and Trig Palin accompanies the article. Inside: Two-and-half pages of coverage with four black-and-white photos (0 color), including one of Barack Obama (!). The largest photo features a St. Paul police officer standing by protesters.

To be sure, the RNC was on a reduced schedule due to the devastation of Hurricane Gustav. However, the Times could have very well published a photo of Cindy McCain and First Lady Laura Bush (like this one or this one). Mrs. McCain and Mrs. Bush called on the convention to help victims of the hurricane, and it would have tied into the ongoing story of the storm. Instead, the Times posted a gleeful story about "shaken up" Republicans supposedly "[swinging] into damage control" over the news of Bristol Palin.

Uneven coverage? It sure looks like it! Big thumbs down to the Times and staffer Mark Z. Barabak.

annoy me some more

People actually walk to the end of their driveways to get it. Amazing!

The writing is on the wall

The writing is on the wall with regard to the media coverage of the RNC.  Do not expect anything resembling a fair shake.  Do expect extensive coverage of "protesters," which is the typical media template for anything related to Republicans.  And, of course, the convention itself is going to be portrayed through cynical lenses while for the Dems it was a cheer-fest from start to finish.

The good thing about the way the media has handled the 2008 election process is that nobody in their right mind, who is paying remote attention, can deny the existence of a leftward media bias.

I wish you were correct in that statement. Unfortunately I believe there are too many people who are not as informed or as sophisticated regarding the liberal advocacy of the media as we are. Consequently they believe that what they read in the Los Angeles Times or see and hear on the alphabet networks is true and factual.

Either because of time constraints (job, kids, etc.), apathy or lack of proper education (the dropout rate is close to 50% in some schools) many people are uninformed about politics, especially the dangerous ideology of the angry left.

I'm not even counting many of those I listen to who call in to CSPAN and deliver their embarrassing diatribe of Bush lied, people died, the surge isn't working, Obama is for change and hope (if asked they can't tell you what that means), etc.

However, I'm not without hope. At their gut level I believe most people can evaluate the true character of the man or women running for the highest office. That's why George W. Bush defeated both Gore and Kerry.

Hopefully, as uninformed and unaware of the media's bias as they may be, they will be able to judge the true character of John McCain and Barry Obama. If so, John McCain will be our next President of the United States (and, of course, Sarah Palin our next Vice President).

I love the sound of that last sentence, especially the part about Sarah Palin as our Vice President.

The liberal media continues to sacrifice ethics and morals for the greater cause: This time for the Election of a Democrat to the Presidency of the United States.

I do agree, Rush Fan, which

I do agree, Rush Fan, which is why I limited my comment to those who are paying remote attention.  The problem is that many of us do not pay any attention to what's going on around us, except for maybe every four years when we decide to go into the voting booth.  The mainstream media does continue to hold immense power over a public that is, to a significant extent and for various reasons, not able to see anything deeper than what they are told.  I do believe, though, that this election year has shown the media to be clearly in the tank for one party (and one candidate) over others.  Even Dem voters saw first-hand what media influence can do, as Mrs. Clinton (and I'm no supporter of hers) was railed by the press once they found a candidate they liked better.  I think a lot of Dem supporters had their eyes opened in this campaign.

LAT

Just your typical DNC bootlicker.I bet it cost them a fortune to get the polish off their tongues.I probably would say something else but I will behave.

I LOATHE the MSM.   I HATE

I LOATHE the MSM.   I HATE the MSM.   I DESPISE the MSM.   I mean it, I cannot STAND these low-life propagandists.

Please people.  If you don't vote, the MSM WINS.   If we don't turn out in record numbers for McCain/Palin,  the MSM WINS.

THINK ABOUT IT.  Olberdouche wins.   Michael Moore-on wins.  Rosie O'Donnell wins.  Chrissie Matthews wins.   NYT wins.  LAT wins.  NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, will have decided the future of our country.

Send a message to the MSM.   VOTE McCain/Palin.   It is our duty as patriotic Americans to stop this Socialist propaganda machine in it's tracks.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

The stuck up journalists

The stuck up journalists wish they were smart, but they aren't. I'm concerned that the stuck up journalists are going to try to prevent us from getting facts from "Weekly World News". I strongly encourage everyone to go the following link and answer this very important question posted there.

Which candidate has more aliens on their campaign?

 http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/?cat=12

Now, in my opinion the stuck up journalists were trying to bring up conspiracies with Palin and her daughter last week.  Stuck up journalists have no business talking about conspiracies, because I don't think much of them know much about how conspiracies work.  I've been in touch with some of my contacts over at the Bermuda Triangle, and they tell me that if Obama wins, he is planning on conquering Antarctica to setup many alien space bases, so aliens can come from other galaxies and take over the Earth.  They also tell me that he might conquer Puerto Rico to get all the Chupacabras there, and use them against his politcal enemies.  Now the reason you won't hear this from the MSM is that they too could  all be space aliens involved in this conspiracy.

Now on a more somber note.  Did everyone hear that Jerry Reed has died?  In my opinion there should be a moment of silence at the GOP convention for this fine person.  In my opinion his acting performance in "Smokey and The Bandit" is much more Oscar worthy than what most of the stuck up actors are winning for now adays.  He also sang the theme song.  In my opinion no stuck up actor or actress could put together a theme song like that.
