Does the Los Angeles Times just love what's going on with the Barack Obama - Oprah Winfrey tour? Check out the coverage for the last three straight days:
"Oprah hits the road with her candidate" (Sat. 12/8/07) (image)
"Trekking to see Oprah - oh, and Obama" (Sun. 12/9/07) (image a, b - couldn't fit it into one on my scanner!) (Plus front-page color contents photo)
"Obama - Winfrey road show rolls on" (Mon. 12/10/07) (image)
Some pretty large pictures there - wouldn't ya say?
We've reported several times on the Times's impassioned fervor for Barack Obama. See here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. And on it goes ...

They loved the West Wing too in thinking that was real
December 11, 2007 - 01:50 ET by Lame CherryPriestess Oprah is what the LAT loves in religion with her feel good "god" and the religion of Obama which is a mix of Islamic, Fertility and Sodomite rites........combined you have Babylon Mystery Religion.
Obama is what liberals love for he is a feel good guy. You feel good looking at him knowing he is more stupid than you. You feel good looking at him knowing he could not seduce your wife or daughter and you feel good knowing he is not going to send some thugs like Bill Clinton and Vince Foster you.
The LAT overlooks a biggie though as I have studied Oprah on this love tour and noticed time and again this woman:
1. Does not like these hicks in Iowa.
2. Is bored with these stupid Iowa white Democrats.
3. Is tired and wanting to get off this Obama train she has hooked her caboose too.
Oprah's entire body language is one of disdain for Iowa and a realization that Obama is a light weight.

I've done my part, now can I just get on with my easy, glowing, celebrity life?"
One does not become editor
December 11, 2007 - 04:57 ET by sarcasmoOf the Harvard Law Review if one is "stupid." Underestimating Obama is a serious mistake, because Barak's at the far right side of the intelligence bell curve or he would not be where he is today.

I don't think anyone (other
December 11, 2007 - 08:22 ET by motherbeltI don't think anyone (other than LC) is underestimating Obama's intelligence. I also think it's a big mistake to underestimate Oprah's "star power" and influence...especially on middle-class white women, one of HRC's once-guaranteed constituencies. A lot of these are women who rush out to buy a book because it's on "Oprah's List." And they may show up more to see Oprah than to hear Obama, (I love that one headline: Trekking to see Oprah...oh, and Obama) but a lot of them WILL LISTEN to her if she says Obama's "the one." Especially since she has never gone so far as to campaign with a candidate before.
I read elsewhere that she said she would tell women (paraphrasing) You don't have to vote for Hillary because she's a woman. You vote for what you need. (That in itself is a good subject for another thread)
What I love about all this is the agita she is causing in the Clinton camp.
ROFL!
Irritating
December 11, 2007 - 10:00 ET by KillgraveI find this whole Oprah thing extremely irritating.
Beforehand, I liked Oprah, since she is obviously a very shrewd businesswoman and is refreshingly non-apologetic about being extremely wealthy. She also re-invests her wealth into the black community, which is the true path of empowerment (not social engineering).
However, her arrogance is really shining through here. Apparently "kingmaker" is another role she is taking upon herself.
Also, if race isn't supposed to be a factor in a color-blind society, then why is the nation's #1 black celebrity pushing for the nation's #1 black politician? Is it just a coincidence?
I'm also irked by reading that Oprah is targeting millions of voters who wouldn't normally vote. To me, this is scraping the bottom of the barrel. If someone is too stupid or lazy to exercise the supreme right of political self-determination (which patriots die for), then we should just ignore them. They do not deserve one iota of attention, much less pandering. Disgusting.
You might say the LA Times
December 11, 2007 - 10:30 ET by RMRYou might say the LA Times is engaged an OPRAMAJAMA!
You might, but somehow I suspect you won't.
