How bad is the pro-Democratic bias at the Los Angeles Times? Here are two more examples ... from just the past 24 hours.
1. Slate's Mickey Kaus published a jaw-dropping item earlier today that the Los Angeles Times has banned its bloggers from writing about the reported affair between Sen. John Edwards and a blonde named Rielle Hunter. Kaus obtained a copy of an e-mail written by Times editor Tony Pierce. Wrote Pierce, "Because the only source has been the National Enquirer we have decided not to cover the rumors or salacious speculations. So I am asking you all not to blog about this topic until further notified."
Kaus reminds everyone that while the L.A. Times and the MSM have been pretty silent on this Edwards story, the New York Times was unafraid in running a front-page article last February that strongly insinuated an adulterous affair between John McCain and a lobbyist. Double standard? Absolutely.
2. The Los Angeles Times really, really, really wanted you to know that Barack Obama gave a speech in Germany yesterday. Check out the humungous front-page, full-color photo (almost 50 square inches; I reduced the size for easier viewing) from today's paper (Fri. 7/25/08). Good ... grief.
(By the way, as a note, at least one blogger (John Rosenthal, World Politics Review) has questioned the "200,000" crowd estimate at Obama's speech.)
Pro-Obama bias at the Times? Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, and yup.

Nope ...
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 00:32 ET by Dave PierreI guess I should have included that the LAT DID report on the McCain/lobbyist "controversy": LAT, 2/22/08, p. A18: CAMPAIGN '08: CONTROVERSY AND MONEY; McCain denies claims about lobbyist; The GOP front-runner says he was never warned by aides in his 2000 campaign to avoid the woman.

I am begining to believe
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 06:53 ET by Right2thePointI am begining to believe that all the puff pieces on Obama are simply because he is the only game in town to generate headlines and sales and they are milking that for all its worth to pay the bills.
If they did any real stories on him that would just be shooting their circulation and themselves in the foot.
Actually, Fox News has appeared to verify the story now...

I am very afraid
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 12:04 ET by MrDebaterthat, once we have lost all objectivity in the MSM, our liberty will be next. If the msm can set the agenda, tone, and even the facts of world events, their influence among the uninformed public(which I am afraid today is the majority of our population) will be tremendous. Liberty is fragile enough, without a politbureau doing everything it can to promote a socialist/communist agenda. People must learn ALL the facts and be knowledgable, but it is getting more difficult all the time...even the internet is being infected with a matrix-style reality...that is killing our values...thank you NB for fighting back!
Before I begin: Yes, I do
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 12:58 ET by Cureboy675Before I begin: Yes, I do think the LA Times is in the tank for Obama.
But I was reading that blog questioning the 200,000 number at the rally. And the author admits that even the Berlin Police estimated the number at 200,000. So...I dunno...I guess they must be in the tank for Obama too.
I'm fine with the estimate -
Sun, 07/27/2008 - 13:08 ET by Hero SquadI'm fine with the estimate - whether its 200,000, 100,000, 150 or 500,000.
What I'm trying to figure out is why Obama is spending his campaign time giving a political speech to a large crowd of people who can't vote for him and aren't going to sway many opinions among those who can.

In terms of sheer left-wing
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 14:41 ET by fitzfongIn terms of sheer left-wing activist dishonesty, the LA Times has been top of the table for some time now. Their protection of this clown John Edwards, the sleaziest of all politicians, is no big surprise. This was the same paper that tried to hijack the Recall Election by running flimsy sexual harassment rumours in the closing days of the campaign (not to mention that this yellow rag got caught concocting fake polls by heavily oversampling Democrats to make it seem like Davis had a chance). Of course, now that Schwarzenegger is fully in the socialist camp, they won't pull those stunts on him again. The LA Times has survived on the strength of its highly overrated sports section for a long time, the rest of the paper isn't fit to wipe your butt.

As I remember,
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 16:50 ET by DEVILDOCMOMnewspapers usually reserve this size photo for really, really, big events ie the landing on the moon, JFK's death, etc. My local paper ran something this size when Arizona won the Big Dance years ago. NOT for when a sleezy politico gives a speech, which, in part knocked his own country. SHAME.
Two men - Four faces
Sun, 07/27/2008 - 11:09 ET by AmericanEnergistWhile John Edwards has been speaking out of both sides of his face for years now, Obama is beginning to show another face as well. The media HAS been more critical (on the Obama-meter) but still maily pitch softballs.
However, the more the man speaks, the more is proves himself to be devoid of position - or common sense, for that matter. Fair-thinking voters will look at him and say 'the man is only two dimensional'!
Unfortualtely, the Obama campaign has a powerful conspirator - Senator McCain. Until McCain comes to his senses to jump upon the golden opportunities Obama gives him, he will go down in history as the man who replaced Joe Picarcik as the king of the 'prevent offense'.
