Flashback: Newsweek’s Adulatory 2008 Obama Cover Portraits

By Brent Baker | August 09, 2011 | 13:32

With outrage from right to left over Newsweek’s “Queen of Rage” cover story photo of Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann in which she looks crazy, or at least empty-headed, a look back at how during the last campaign the magazine, under previous ownership, made sure candidate Barack Obama always looked presidential.

The image below was collated for the “Scrapbook” page in the July 28, 2008 Weekly Standard, which dubbed Newsweek “Obamaweek” and illustrated the media's infatuation with Obama by displaying images of six Newsweek covers featuring Obama.

At least they didn't print

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 1:37pm.

At least they didn't print the God-like photo, or the Mussolini photo............those drive me up a tree, because they are so phony!!!
And personally, I'd be embarrassed as hell to have a photo like that of me printed.............but I'm not nearly as self-absorbed as Boy Barry - he's probably got those photos hanging all around his house.

He basically is a member of the MSM. He is a good looking guy with a likeable personality who reads everything off a teleprompter. Aka, a news anchor. That is why the media likes him so much. But it was a bad idea to make him President.

Well I only meant in comparison to news anchors. Look at who's on the news, Obama wouldn't be the ugliest by far.

I've never considered Boy

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 10:56pm.

I've never considered Boy Blah-Blah to come anywhere close to being 'good-looking' or 'lucid', since the guy can barely put a coherent sentence together within a limited time-frame if he doesn't have a teleprompter or an ear-piece. As far as looks to, he might be in the same category as Shank Hunger, or Leghumper Matthews...........I mean, threre's another gay black guy besides Boy Barry that's not too bad looking.........what's his name......Lemon something or other???

Who can forget those Obama

Submitted by gopsteve on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 1:47pm.

Who can forget those Obama covers? Every time you walked past a magazine rack during the election season...there he was multiple times...

Who knows, maybe the mags, sensing Obama's vulnerability he did not have in 2008, will double or triple their efforts in 2012!!

We've seen that kind of cult frenzy before

Submitted by Don L on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 5:59pm.

Yep, it was orchestrated to be close to early 20th century Germany -he even started his campaign over at the Brandenburg Gate, and also used foam pillars and emblems for historic credibility, just as they did. (He also wanted a civilian army the size of the military as they did.)

But the truth be told -we found out that teleprompters lack charisma! Even more so, when they get stuck on "Bush did it!" Now we'll have to listen to a thousand programmed voices all shouting "the Tea Party did it," right up until the election, where he'll sweep the inner-city and zombie vote.

I have always thought that

Submitted by WarEagle66 on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 8:50pm.

I have always thought that the media projected on to Obama what they think of themselves. The media folks see themselves as hip, urban cool, athletic, smart, worldly....etc etc.

We find that he is not much of any of those things.
