Media Slammed 'Bitch' Angle's Ad, Now Silent When Ryan Shown Throwing Granny Off Cliff

Anyone whose eyes have been glued to certain news outlets for the last 24 hours has probably heard almost nothing about one of the most offensive political advertisements in recent memory. That's because most major networks have largely failed to cover a video portraying Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plan as literally throwing grandma off a cliff.

While ABC, MSNBC, and CNN continue to ignore the left-wing attack ad, these same outlets wasted no time excoriating Sharron Angle's controversial immigration ad during the 2010 cycle.

[Video embedded after the page break.]

The video, which shows a frightened elderly woman being steered off a cliff by the House Budget Chairman, parrots the liberal meme that Republicans want to kill old people by ending Medicare, which apparently the media doesn't find controversial.

But just a few months ago, the same outlets that couldn't be bothered to question the Agenda Project's Medicare video were quick to condemn the former Nevada Republican Senate nominee for using images of immigrants crossing the border illegally to criticize Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) record on amnesty.

On ABC's "The View," liberal comedienne Joy Behar called Angle a "moron" who will "go to hell" because of the campaign spot.

"I am not praying for her," added Behar. "She's going to hell, this bitch."

On Andrea Mitchell's eponymous MSNBC program, the incensed anchor complained that Angle's ad looked "like a Halloween show" and was "beyond the pale."

Mitchell's guest, Washington Post reporter Dan Balz, scolded, "A lot of people say this is the closest thing we have this year to a Willie Horton or the Jesse Helms white hands ad from that North Carolina race back in the day."

For CNN's part, both "Anderson Cooper 360" and "Parker-Spitzer" featured Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman, who offered a robust defense of Behar's "bitch" smear.

"I'm standing with Joy Behar because she nailed it when she went after Sharron Angle for the xenophobia, for the racist type of campaign she has run, and for, in fact, exploiting prejudice and bigotry," blathered the one-time CNN political analyst.

Fox News, as well as numerous sites, started covering the offensive anti-Republican video yesterday, a day after it was released. ABC, MSNBC, and CNN have had ample time to do so, but continue to ignore the controversy.

I don't understand

Submitted by ArcherB on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 4:54pm.

What's the problem? Everyone with a lick of sense knows that the second Ryan's budget is passed men in suits will start hurling old ladies off of cliffs. This is not a campaign ad. This is fact. I believe it is even in the bill itself. Why would the press take any exception with this?

Depends on who they're throwing

I don't think it'd be all that controversial if the ad had shown him throwing Nancy Pelosi off the cliff.

Why would these stations object to it?

Submitted by averageschmoe on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:02pm.

They probably helped the DNC put the add together. The production team was probably lead by Georgie Stephanopolous with help from Andrea Mitchell and the entire View team including Baba Wawa and Joy Blowhard.

The add is correct!

Submitted by GeneralAl on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:04pm.

the add is correct except for one small fact. that fact is the ad should show Ryan shoving the Messiah over a clift as far as his spending goes!

If the networks report on

Submitted by kareling on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:42pm.

But--but--if the networks report on this, then when are they supposed to find time to beat the drum about Newt getting dumped with glitter? Or Arnold's love child?

Who's really throwing granny off the cliff?

Submitted by Radical1979 on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 8:50pm.

Medicare is starting to throw granny of the cliff right now. Doctors won't treat new medicare patients because they lose money treating them. Medicare doesn't want to pay people to stay in hospitals. I know this from experience. So the dems are the ones throwing granny off the cliff if they don't fix medicare.

Ezra Klein wants to revoke

Submitted by ant on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 1:01am.

Ezra Klein wants to revoke senior citizens' voting rights but no harm, right? Medicare WILL BE insolvent, but hey, what's real finance when it comes to scare tactics? Oh, and I'm still waiting for the investigative report on the real agenda of the racist 'reconquista', La Raza groups. For the 100th time, pathetic. Fire all the media, they are traitors in essence!

All you need to know about this ad.

Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Sat, 05/21/2011 - 9:29pm.

Check out the last few seconds of the ad. Seems it's produced by something called "The Agenda Project." (Edit: Ooops, Alex reported the Agenda Proj. in the article... Must be short term memory loss on my part... I'm sure the 9 beers I've had didn't have anything to do with it - :o) )
Hmmm... I wonder who's 'agenda' they're promoting? Certainly not the taxpayer or those in the future who will never get Medicare because it went broke.
