MSNBC Whacks Romney for Failing to Dismiss 'Treason' Talk; But In '08, Obama Failed to Dismiss 'Treason' Talk on....MSNBC

By Tim Graham | May 08, 2012 | 22:53

On MSNBC's Ed Show on Monday night, Ed Schultz attacked Mitt Romney for failing to disagree emphatically with a voter who said Obama should be tried for treason. "For all his faults, at least John McCain [in 2008] had the guts to talk down the crazy. Four years later, the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party doesn't have the character or leadership skills to correct conspiracy theories on the road at an event? Romney didn't address the treason accusation at an event until a reporter grilled him about it."

Guess who didn't have the "character or leadership skills" to correct his supporters when they made crazy talk about "treason" in the last presidential election? That would be Barack Obama. Which supporters? You can start with...Keith Olbermann, occupying Ed Schultz's current spot on MSNBC. Check out Olbermann on April 25, 2008, for example, when the treason came from Team Clinton, which was supposedly going to undermine Obama in the fall:

Jimmy Kimmel Slams Marcus Bachmann With Gay Jokes at White House Correspondents' Dinner

By Noel Sheppard | April 28, 2012 | 23:55

Is the White House Correspondents' Dinner the proper venue to make gay jokes about the husband of a current female member of Congress?

NBC's Jimmy Kimmel certainly thought so as he took a page out of vulgar comedian Bill Maher's playbook claiming Keith Olbermann "has more pink slips than Marcus Bachmann" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

By Noel Sheppard | April 28, 2012 | 23:30

Jimmy Kimmel on Saturday trashed former MSNBC and Current TV anchor Keith Olbermann as well as the controversial commentator's former boss Al Gore.

During his keynote address at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner, Kimmel said, "I’d like everyone to look under your seats. Under each one you will find a copy of Keith Olbermann’s resume" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Olbermann: Traders Are Driving Up Gas Prices to Harm Obama

By Noel Sheppard | April 22, 2012 | 13:58

Disgraced former MSNBC and Current TV anchor Keith Olbermann suggested Sunday there's a conspiracy to drive up gas prices in order to harm President Obama.

Such was said on ABC's This Week in response to host George Stephanopoulos's question regarding the impact speculation has on what consumers pay at the pump (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Peggy Noonan Schools Olbermann: 'A Lot of People Think Businessmen Create Businesses Which Create Jobs'

By Noel Sheppard | April 22, 2012 | 12:45

The Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan appearing on ABC's This Week Sunday gave Keith Olbermann a much-needed education on what living in a capitalist country is all about.

When the disgraced former Countdown host said, "It’s a very large view right now that business has never been viewed less favorably in this country," Noonan scolded, "There is a lot of people who think businessmen create businesses which create jobs" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

NYT's Brooks Slams Obama: 'Every Once in a While' He 'Puts On His Keith Olbermann Mask'

By Noel Sheppard | April 07, 2012 | 08:58

New York Times' so-called "conservative" columnist David Brooks had some surprisingly harsh words Friday for the objective of his affection currently residing in the White House.

"President Obama is an intelligent, judicious man who can see all sides of an issue. But every once in a while he tries to get politically cute, and he puts on his Keith Olbermann mask."

NBC's 'Today' Show Mocks Keith Olbermann

By Kyle Drennen | April 06, 2012 | 15:09

On Friday's NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer confirmed that he had renewed his contract with network, prompting applause from his fellow hosts and this zinger from weatherman Al Roker about Lauer's potential replacement: "Yeah, because it was either you or Keith Olbermann." The entire studio erupted in laughter. [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Lauer quipped in response: "You made out alright, didn't you?" Ann Curry referred to Olbermann suing his former employer, Current TV: "Yeah, and our bosses don't want to be sued." A relieved Roker proclaimed "Thank goodness!" and rounded out the mocking of the left-wing bomb-thrower by doing his best Olbermann impression: "You're the worst person in the world!"

Limbaugh Rips Olbermann: 'You Are Not a $10 Million Chandelier - You're the Guy Wearing a $50 Lampshade'

By Noel Sheppard | April 04, 2012 | 17:52

Recently fired and disgraced liberal commentator Keith Olbermann boasted on CBS's Late Show Tuesday that he's a $10 million chandelier.

Rush Limbaugh on his radio program marvelously responded Wednesday saying, "Keith, you are not a $10 million chandelier. You're the guy wearing a $50 lampshade sitting in the corner of the room that nobody else wants to go in" (video courtesy Daily Rushbo follows with transcript and no need for additional commentary):

Current Drowns Olbermann, Mercurial Leftist Anchor Booted from Al Gore's Network

By Ken Shepherd | March 30, 2012 | 18:04

"Current TV said Friday afternoon that it had terminated the contract of its lead anchor, Keith Olbermann, scarcely a year after he was hired to reboot the fledgling channel in his progressive political image. Current indicated that he had failed to honor the terms of his five-year, $50 million contract, giving the channel the right to terminate it," New York Times's Brian Stelter reported this afternoon. For his part, Olbermann trash-tweeted Al Gore and the suits at Current on the way out the door, no doubt in an inspired manner kinda like this.

Let us have a brief moment of silence, followed by hours of exultation. Leave your comments below. Here's a topic starter, borrowed from a Twitter hashtag game (#nextjobforkeith), what will Olbermann's next job be?

Selling Socialism: The Media's Campaign for ObamaCare

By Geoffrey Dickens | March 21, 2012 | 10:00

Next week, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on the constitutionality of ObamaCare, but if the media were the judges, the Court would rule 9-0 in favor of it. During its coverage of the health care debate, the liberal press never permitted questions about ObamaCare’s legality to interfere with their dream of a government takeover of the health care sector.

Starting even before Barack Obama became President, the press has been campaigning hard for passage of the most liberal version of health care reform as a cure-all elixir to all of America’s health problems. First, they pitched the public on the desperate need to, as ABC’s Dr. Tim Johnson demanded, fix America’s “national shame” of no universal coverage. Fox Liberal: Anti-Rush Campaign 'Isn't About Misogyny' - 'It's a Proxy War' to Help Dems in November

By Noel Sheppard | March 05, 2012 | 20:36

As NewsBusters reported, liberal Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers published a rather surprising column at the Daily Beast Sunday called "Rush Limbaugh Isn’t the Only Media Misogynist."

On Monday she appeared on Fox's America Live taking this issue even further saying, "This isn't really about misogyny...It's a proxy war for the Democratic Party: they can use it in the election for part of the war on women, and they can attack Rush Limbaugh because they hate Rush Limbaugh because he's conservative" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

On Sunday, Powers published a piece at the Daily Beast entitled "Rush Limbaugh Isn’t the Only Media Misogynist" that is guaranteed to be applauded by the Right and heavily ridiculed by her colleagues on the left:

The War on the War on Christmas

By Erin R. Brown | December 13, 2011 | 14:48

Every year, millions of Christians that celebrate the birth of their Savior are faced with the attacks on Christmas - "holiday trees," atheist ad campaigns and even outright blasphemy in mocking nativity scenes. To Christians and conservatives, the evidence is overwhelming. But in recent years, the left and the mainstream media have actively denied that the war even exists.

From the hard left gang of current and former MSNBC personalities to CNN hosts to Huffington Post writers, the watch words have been "fake" and "phony" and "ridiculous." With varying degrees ire, they've blamed Fox News and the "Christian right" for the "manufactured outrage" at attacks on Christmas.

Police Can't 'Deal With Peace,' Occupy Wall St.'s Ex-Marine Drama Queen Tells Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | October 29, 2011 | 21:37

Perhaps you've seen it, the video of former Marine Corps sergeant Shamar Thomas accusing New York City police of brutality against Occupy Wall Street protesters.

Since the footage was posted Oct. 16 on YouTube, left-wing media have embraced Thomas as their one of their own, showering him with attention while avoiding potentially awkward questions about his background, such as Thomas's claim that his mother fought in Iraq and his father was deployed to Afghanistan. Hollywood Trade Mag Touts Maddow 'Won Primetime'?

By Jack Coleman | October 06, 2011 | 16:27

Rachel Maddow is reluctantly ready for her close-up. Really.

That's the impression left by this gushy profile of Maddow in the most recent issue of the Hollywood Reporter. First flag that goes up: the title of the story on the magazine cover -- "The Wonk Who Won Primetime."

Bugged by Gold: Price Climb Vindicates Conservatives, Confounds Liberals

By Paul Wilson | September 13, 2011 | 16:20

During 2009 and 2010, liberal commentators and even politicians made a point of bashing conservative commentators such as Glenn Beck and Laura Ingraham for allowing gold companies to advertise on their shows, arguing that conservatives and gold companies cynically colluded to deceive viewers into buying bad investments. The recent spike in gold prices seems to prove that the conservative commentators were right after all.

Gold prices topped $1,900 an ounce on August 22. The price of gold rose over 400 dollars since the beginning of this year, up from $1,421.40 per ounce since January 1st, 2011, and has rapidly risen over the past two months. The price of gold was $854.60 per ounce at the start of the Obama administration. In other words, gold prices have more than doubled since the beginning of the Obama administration.

FNC’s Colmes Disputes MSNBC’s Olbermann/Halperin Double Standard, Contradicts Himself

By Brad Wilmouth | July 10, 2011 | 00:28

On Saturday’s Fox News Watch, as the panel discussed MSNBC’s double standard in suspending Time’s Mark Halperin for calling President Obama by a vulgar word on MSNBC’s Morning Joe program, even after the network tolerated former host Keith Olbermann’s numerous examples of harsh language about President Bush, liberal FNC contributor Alan Colmes was obsessed with inserting Rush Limbaugh into the discussion as he spent most of the segment missing the point about the Halperin/Olbermann comparison.

When Colmes finally noticed that the other panel members were concerned about MSNBC’s internal double standard, the liberal commentator contradicted himself from his earlier efforts to insert some of Limbaugh’s alleged name-calling against liberals into the discussion.

MSNBC: Leaning Left for 15 Long Years - A Year-by-Year Video Retrospective

By Geoffrey Dickens | July 07, 2011 | 10:13

Tonight MSNBC's cast and crew will gather in Washington D.C. to celebrate their network being on the air for 15 long years. In that time its hosts, reporters and guests have attacked conservatives and Republicans on everything from impeaching Bill Clinton and conducting a war on terrorism, up to the fight over public unions. All the while some of its reporters and hosts have been thrilled by the likes of Mikhail Gorbachev and Barack Obama.

For that entire 15 years MRC analysts have been dutifully watching and noting these often outrageous outbursts of leftism from NBC News' cable outlet.

The following collection of the worst MSNBC quotes, year-by-year, is just a sampling of the Lean Forward network's decade-and-a-half long devotion to advancing the cause of liberalism under the guise of journalism.

Flashback: MSNBC Hosts Called Bush Fascist, Murderous and War Criminal, Never Faced Suspensions

By Geoffrey Dickens | June 30, 2011 | 12:50

On MSNBC you can call a sitting president a "murderous" "fascist" even muse about putting the President on trial for war crimes, so long as that president is a Republican. But if you dare call a Democratic president a "d–ck," as MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin did this morning it's grounds for indefinite suspension.

While calling any president the D-word is probably not showing the proper respect for the office, it has to be asked where does it rank compared to essentially accusing a president of mass murder and war crimes?

Bashing Bachmann: A Review of Liberal Media's Most Obnoxious Attacks on the GOP Presidential Contender

By Geoffrey Dickens | June 27, 2011 | 15:58

Today's official announcement by Republican Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann that she is running for the GOP nomination for President could spawn a whole new round of frenzied attacks by the liberal media on the Tea Party favorite.

A review of the MRC's archives shows a particular disdain for Bachmann coming from the likes of MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who once accused her of being a "zombie," even going as far to ask her on live Election Night coverage if she "hypnotized?"

Al Gore Furious That Murdoch's Sky Italia Is Removing Current TV Before Olbermann's Debut

By Tim Graham | May 20, 2011 | 07:09

Al Gore is hopping mad that his Current TV was dumped from Rupert Murdoch’s Sky Italia before Keith Olbermann debuted in America with his strong brew of overcaffeinated leftist cappuccino. Gore told the left-wing U.K. Guardian:

"News Corporation is an international conglomerate with an ideological agenda. It seeks political power in every nation they operate. They wield that power to shut down voices that disagree with the agenda of Rupert Murdoch," Gore said.

Has Al Gore ever seen Keith Olbermann’s Countdown? The show that hasn’t allowed a disagreeable conservative voice since around the Howard Dean Scream?

Sy Hersh, Abetted by Olbermann, Slandered SEALs That Later Killed Bin Laden as Cheney's Personal Assassins

By Jack Coleman | May 03, 2011 | 16:08

The Navy SEALs who killed bin Laden are being widely hailed as heroes -- in stark contrast to previous descriptions of them from liberals in the media.

It was not long ago, over in the wetlands of the left, that these courageous warriors were demeaned as little more than homicidal thugs acting at the behest of war criminal Dick Cheney.

Here's how Keith Olbermann, then at MSNBC, described claims made by New Yorker writer Seymour Hersh in 2009 (h/t, RealClearPolitics; video after page break) --

S.E. Cupp Strikes Back at Olbermann, Gore, Planned Parenthood and NOW

By Noel Sheppard | April 18, 2011 | 21:56

As NewsBusters reported last Thursday, Keith Olbermann for some reason chose to viciously attack conservative author S.E. Cupp for opinions she expressed on the previous evening's "Joy Behar Show."

On Monday, in a Special Comment on her online program at Glenn Beck.com, Cupp responded to Olbermann while calling out his new boss at Current TV Al Gore as well as Planned Parenthood and the National Organization for Women (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CNN’s Kurtz Defends Olbermann & MSNBC from Comparisons to Glenn Beck

By Brad Wilmouth | April 12, 2011 | 08:30

In spite of former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann’s history of using distortion and even misinformation to attack conservatives, and his infamously recurring conspiracy theory that the Bush administration made terrorism-related announcements to distract from politically embarrassing news, CNN host Howard Kurtz on Sunday’s Reliable Sources defended Olbermann’s Countdown show and MSNBC generally when right-leaning guest Amy Holmes of America’s Morning News pointed out the excesses of left-wing MSNBC anchors during a discussion of FNC host Glenn Beck’s upcoming departure from the network.

Kurtz: "Now, I don't put Keith Olbermann in the same category as Beck at all. His MSNBC show, agree with it, disagree with it, was a very well-researched program."

He later added: "I've got to push back on this, though. You say that some of the people at MSNBC, just as bad. Now, they may be as opinionated, they may be as strident, they may occasionally be irresponsible. But they are not trafficking conspiracy theories, they're not making things up."

MSNBC's UnCivil War on the Right

By Matthew Philbin | April 11, 2011 | 10:55

MSNBC’s new slogan may be “Lean Forward,” but the brazenly left-wing cable network does a lot of looking back – to the 1860s.

April 12, 2011, will mark the 150th anniversary of the bombardment of Ft. Sumter in South Carolina – the beginning of the American Civil War. As Americans observe this milestone, they’ll hear a lot of words they only vaguely remember from U.S. History class – terms like “secession,” “states rights,” “nullification,” “contraband,” or “Dred Scott.”

Not MSNBC viewers. To them the language of the Civil War is remarkably familiar, since the network’s liberal hosts and guests never miss an opportunity to associate today’s conservative movement with the Confederacy, secession, slavery and racism.

Keith Olbermann: Too Far Left for Gore's Current TV?

By Lachlan Markay | February 22, 2011 | 19:50

Just how far left is MSNBC? According to the New York Post, Keith Olbermann's new employer, Current TV, suggested he "veer a little to the middle politically."

That's right: MSNBC's former prime time star was too far left for the writers and producers at Al Gore's television network. Says a lot about the true blue cable channel, doesn't it?

As Current TV Tops List of Least Watched Cable Channels, Reporter Claims 'Ratings Savior' Olbermann to the Rescue

By Kyle Drennen | February 16, 2011 | 14:30

In Tuesday's Kansas City Star, reporter Aaron Barnhart revealed that Current TV, the cable channel launched in 2005 by Al Gore, would be the least missed, only managing to be viewed by 18,000 households in the fourth quarter of 2010. Also on the list of "Cable's Least Wanted" were the DIY network, ESPN Classic, Fox Soccer Channel, Logo, and Sleuth.

Despite such abysmal ratings for Current, Barnhart argued that the addition of former MSNBC Countdown host Keith Olbermann to the channel would turn things around: "The good news for Current is that it won’t be counting its audience in the high five figures, at least not when Olbermann is on the air." He later remarked: "Unlike Current, the rest of Cable’s Least Wanted don’t have a ratings savior waiting in the wings."

Lawrence O'Donnell: 'Bill O'Reilly Has Most Gullible Audience in Television History'

By Noel Sheppard | February 15, 2011 | 01:58

With his total number of viewers having declined by 45 percent since his premiere in the 8PM time slot, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell appears to be taking a page from his predecessor Keith Olbermann's handbook.

On Monday's "The Last Word," the host did two segments about Fox News, the first included insults about Irish guys and  Bill O'Reilly's "gullible" audience that ended with a school yard challenge to cable news's most-watched personality (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Maher Says Bush 'Wasn't Aware of S--t' After Bashing O'Reilly for Disrespecting Obama

By Noel Sheppard | February 12, 2011 | 01:40

HBO's Bill Maher on Friday perfectly demonstrated liberal hypocrisy concerning how Democrat and Republican presidents should be treated by the media.

In a lengthy segment on HBO's "Real Time" about how "disrespectful" Bill O'Reilly was during his Super Bowl interview with Barack Obama, Maher castigated the Fox News host for his "unpatriotic" behavior moments before debasing former President George W. Bush for not being "aware of s--t" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
