Edwards' posh estate is a work in progress, with a recently completed 10,700-square-foot main mansion as its centerpiece.
The $3.1 million ritzy pad sports 10 rooms, 61/2 baths, two garages, a huge country kitchen with hardwood floors, and sweeping verandas to soak in the view of the verdant pasture.
Two other residences - one for 22-year-old daughter Cate and one for visiting friends and family - are already under way, according to Orange County, N.C., property records. A two-story, 6,366-square-foot mini-mansion is about 70 percent complete.
The $570,000 house will have two bedrooms, four bathrooms and a fireplace. A smaller, $193,000 building with 2,817 feet of space is about 95 percent complete. Edwards is also building a $30,000 pool house.

What I do resent though is the hypocrisy of being lectured by Edwards and his ilk about the gross economic inequalities in this country while they refuse to set the example e.g. does he really NEED a 10,000 sq foot home? Does Kerry, Kennedy and all the other rich Democrats really NEED the mansions they live in? They complain about tax cuts for the rich, yet have any of them ever voluntarily sent in more to the IRS than they are legally obligated to pay to pay for the social programs they claim are so important for the less fortunate?
They talk the talk, do they ever walk the walk?
Or is that too much to ask?

On same note, there are now approximately 10% of illegal aliens are convicted criminals. More than 125K lbs of illegal drugs confiscated along the Southern borders. How much more got thru? Who knows, but I suspect more than what was reported. How many muslims sneaked-in, is another question need to be answered.
Our border need to be secured and our government need act on their constitutional obligation to protect its people!

I can understand his perspective on
immigration, but also yesterday and I believe this really makes the
point that something needs to be done about our borders;
A U.S. Border Patrol entry
Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's
border with Mexico. The story continues; according to the Border
Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's
West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National
Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat. However, no
Guardsmen were injured in the incident.
The Border Patrol says
the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the
border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug
corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were
confiscated in this area.
The Border patrol says the
attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

I agree with you 200%. I am also ten miles beyond deeply distressed by the fact that a president who ran on a platform of national security seems to be completely tone deaf on this issue. If border security is not a national security issue, then what the hell is? He has now cut a deal with the Mexican government to give social security benefits to illegals that covers the time they were here illegally and working illegally! So GWB wants to attract even more illegals into this country? What a crock!
Shooting them on site would surely be a strong deterrent and would have been my solution from day one. Problem is, with things as inverted and bass-ackwards as they are in this country right now, you would probably wind up on death row if you were to plug one of them.
The whole problem stems from the fact that both parties see these people as potential voters. GWB is really no different just because he is the current occupant of the Oval Office, as at the end of the day, all he really is is a politician. One who appears ready to give away the store.

Seems to be his modus operandi. If you ask him questions he doesn't want to answer, he just starts insulting you, claiming you're insulting him, then dismisses you as a "racist, bigot, white supremacist," or even, as here, a "poor speller." Then, when you finally go off on him, he acts all innocent, and proclaims YOU a lunatic who's beneath his notice.
Oh, he starts out all friendly, thanks you for your kind words when you first start a dialogue with him. But if he doesn't convert you (I haven't seen it yet), and you ask the same questions everyone else usually gets around to asking, you're on the same ride he's sent many others on before. I've only been posting here about 4 months or so, but I've seen it so many times. Pushed me to my breaking point a couple days ago. If he's still around, and sees this, you can bet he'll be here insulting me in a little while.
Welcome to the club! Membership is growing by leaps and bounds!

Oh yes, I've seen many of your posts. Vitriol isn't in them, and I try to be the same way. But patience is not boundless. We all have, and sometimes reach, our limits. Banging your head against a wall tends to do that... ;^)
I didn't really picture the "thumper" reference as a rabbit, but once the phrase "leaps and bounds" appeared in my post (almost by itself, it seemed), the "Thumper" remark just seemed to fit right in. Must have a little "bratt" in me, too!
I'd be interested in that "military reason" you mentioned. Now I'm curious. A couple ideas occur, but only one strikes me as "offensive" to anyone. Feel free to pm me with your remarks.
