Imus, Barnicle Fantasize About Republicans on Gallows: Cheney Would 'Wet His Pants'

Photo of Mark Finkelstein.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This is a corrected version of the original item. Imus's guest was Mike Barnicle. The original item, displayed briefly, incorrectly identified Imus's guest as Chris Matthews. My apologies to Chris Matthews and our readers.

H/t to reader PJG.

Does it get any more foul than this? During the 8 AM ET hour of Don Imus's show this morning he and Mike Barnicle fantasized about how various Republicans would react to being hung on the gallows.

Note: this item was prepared from the closed-caption transcript. It will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate in the course of the morning. Video: Real (3MB) or Windows (3.5MB) Plus MP3 (555KB)

UPDATE 11:35am: Transcript has now been checked against the tape and corrected in a few spots.

Imus: "I was – I tried to imagine how various members of the current administration would behave were they subjected to the gallows as Saddam Hussein was. Um, and I can see Rumsfeld –"

Barnicle: “He wouldn't take it. No blindfold for Rumsfeld.”

Imus: "That's what I was thinking, you know. ‘F-you.' You know, you go to the gallows with the noose you want, not the noose you– or the noose you have, not the noose you want–"

Barnicle: "That's exactly right."

Imus: "Or Whatever. But Cheney–"

Barnicle: "Just as that trap door opens, he'd drop an f-bomb to all of them."

Imus: "How about Cheney?"

Barnicle: “I don't think Cheney would make it up the steps.”

Imus: "Now this is a guy who would, this is a guy – he'd wet his pants and he'd whine and start
crying."

Barnicle: "Well He would order as a last meal 400 pounds of bacon."

Imus: "Yeah, ‘cause this is a guy got six deferments just to get out of Vietnam because he had, what was that phrase he used – he had some other more important issues to deal with. One of ’em, the last one, was getting his wife pregnant just to keep from having to deal with this."

Barnicle: "Oh God."

Imus: "Uh, who else? Wolfowitz, he'd cry."

Barnicle: "Oh yeah, he'd be shot in the back running away."

Imus: "Yeah, exactly. Yeah, or some of the other key players."

Barnicle: "Richard Perle."

Imus: "Oh, he'd, oh God, he'd, he would soil himself. So–"

Barnicle: "Can't you see him being dragged up by his cap?"

Imus: "Oh yeah."

Barnicle: "Clinging, splinters in his fingernails."

Imus: “A combover of his hanging all down the side of his head.”

In one of the oddest transitions Imus then asks: "Everybody well in your family, your kids, wife, all that?

Barnicle replies: “You know, thank God, everybody is, and I hope everybody is in your household and everyone else's household, because the health of your family, everything else pales in comparison to that. So you get up in the morning and draw a breath, Don, you're ahead on the day.”

Such wonderful family values, these guys.

UPDATE 01-04: An unchastened Imus was back at it this morning.  With MSNBC analyst Craig Crawford as guest, Imus again indulged his fantasies of Republicans on the gallows.  Crawford got into the spirt of the discussion. When Imus alluded to some of the officials being shot as they ran away, Crawford chimed in: "at least we know Cheney would shoot back."

I could never figure out what he believed in for himself.  He served as a Marine but is a Murtha twin when it comes to the War.  He is a recovering addict (cocaine and booze I believe) but unlike Rush's drug issue the Left likes him.

So, to me he's just a guy on the radio.  I quit listening to him because I missed nearly all of his humor.

Speaking of MA, I noticed the Legislator had a vote yesterday. So, I logged onto Boston.com this morning eager to get their take... and SURPRISE -- no mention of the vote on the front page. So, I go to the NEWS section looking for a headline, and SURPRISE -- no headline. It was the third item in the list below all the headlines.

Why is that important? Because every day, day after day, the Globe put the Gay is Good position in prominant headlines. But not today. Made me chuckle all morning long.

This may sound really weird

This may sound really weird, but it's nice to know that there are other people as pi$$ed off as I am. I feel like I'm gonna snap any day now. These people are not Americans. They have become the Tories of the 21st century. They live here, they work here, but their allegiance is to another country or at least to a country of a demented parallel universe. Perhaps it's time for a new declaration of independence.....

Hanging

I mentioned this yesterday on a blog. When I wrote it, I had a passing thought that maybe I was going too far thinking that liberals would be glad to see the president hanged. Well, here it is. These sickos would be cheering on the sidelines. Moreover, I believe Barnicle and Imus were simply airing their adolescent sexual fantasies on the air. It's insulting pornography that's over the line even for them. These two, and many others in the media, keep this nation in a constant state of immaturity. Liberals never grow up. It's disgusting.

NEVER,NEVER trust a liberal

I didn't know that Cheney a

I didn't know that Cheney and Rumsfeld were responsible for the deaths of 2 million people; I didn't know that they had gassed an ethnic region, killing an upwards of 10, 000 people; I didn't know that they had brutally suppressed an entire ethnic population; I didn't know that they had started 3 wars, and lobbed missiles at another country while fighting a war against someone else; I didn' t know that they had their own family members killed, including sons in law; I didn't know that they had torture chambers, rape rooms, and other barbaric practices meant to destroy any freedom of choice, speech, and expression. Matthews and Imus are typical liberals who do not allow the facts to shape their thinking, but their emotions--this is why they are so pathetic and extreme, they are swayed and tossed by the winds of outrage and hysteria.

I may have mentioned in a pre

I may have mentioned in a previous post that I live and work in NYC.  I can’t and won’t go into any detail about 9/11, but suffice it to say that I witnessed the entire thing up close and first hand.

I watched the new 9/11 movie last night (The one with Nicholas Cage).  This isn’t intended to be a movie critique, but having been there, I would say that the movie was highly factual and thankfully, made no political statement.

The first half hour or so, which dealt with the events directly were so upsetting to me that I nearly needed to turn it off.  It’s not because it was terribly graphic, but it was terribly adept at recreating things that I now suspect I blocked out of my memory.  I also recall things that happened there that didn’t (and rightfully so) make it into the movie.

The reason I raise this is that to hear Matthews, Imus and others make these childish, self serving, derogatory and anti American comments about our President and his administration who are trying to do their best in a bad situation to protect us against further attack is…  I don’t know, I am at a complete loss of words to describe it.

My first reaction was “Well, if they were there and witnessed even some of it first hand, they might think differently about it.”  But upon further thought, I realized that many of them were there, first hand.  Which makes their conduct even more treasonous to me.

And for politicians to politicize this issue for their own personal gain tramples the memories of everyone who died that day. Anyone who buys into these ideals does the same.

I will now open the floor to liberals who will ignore every point I have made and tell me that Sadaam had no Weapons of Mass Destruction.

It was Mike Barnicle, not Matthews. I was hearing the interview in the background on the tube and Barnicle's voice sounded like Matthews. My mistake. However, the gallows fantasy is no less disgusting.

Also, let us not forget when Chris Matthews had Matt Damon and Robert DeNiro on his show, he allowed and actually joined Matt Damon when Damon made fun of the V.P.  Both Damon and Matthews called V.P. Cheny a coward for not serving in Vietnam.

Funny enough when Damon was asked if he would serve in our military he said that it was too complicated a question to answer.

Imus is another empty hat.

Imus is another empty hat. You see, it's all about the hat. Owning a ranch in New Mexico doesn't make him a cowboy; it makes him a dilletante. He's another dude. A Rexall Ranger. He thinks owning that ranch and wearing a big hat makes him a man of the people. Real cowboys, here in Texas, pick their teeth with the bones of "cowboys" like that. But mostly, real cowboys, no matter the state, tend to keep their mouths tightly closed unless they've got something of real value to offer. And they say "sir" alot when spoken to.
