I cannot stand more than five minutes of Softball with Matthews especially after the election.  Once Fitzgerald finally admitted to having no case, that should have been the end of it but no, these liberal broadcasters continue to believe that Cheney, Rove and others are still guilty.  Who cares if Libby lied?  It was his own damn fault.  He made the decision to lie and he should pay the price.  Cheney is not going to lie and that is why he is willing to testify.  Everyone on the right knows that Joe Wilson is lying through his teeth and that is why you won't see him testify.  I just wish we could get him on a perjury charge though.

The one thing I haven't gotten my little mind full of mush around is, I thought that the leak has been found to be Richard Armitage (although I'll admit, I haven't paid full attention to this).

But that being said, I don't understand why this has gone this far?  Isn't this part of a civil suit filed by the Wilson's on damage to "outing Plame" as a CIA covert?  I thought that too had been discredited as she was not "covert" (at least what I remember reading). 

I understand the issue of perjury as it is supposed to attach to this case, but honestly, I don't know how many people could remember exactly what they said about anything 3 years ago.  Add to that, that Wilson had stated that "My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity" (interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN), I just don't see where this has any meat to it.  (Again, I haven't stayed on top of this, but it just seems like a lot for nothing here against Libby).

As for Matthews, this guy is a loon.  He loves to beat up on Republicans, but gives the Dems a pass.  His so called "hardball" points are only directed to the right, but the issues (no matter what they are) facing the left...a softball even my youngest son could knock out of the park!

It's the latest game of these political journalists.  Who can get an Administration Leader Impeached!  They've only got two years left to snag a scalp.  Once the Demofacist are in the WH they won't be so fats to make such claims.  They'll lose their invitatins to the Lefist elite society parties if the take a hard look at the Leaders on the Left.

I think Libby has a strong defense. Having been in a high stress job where I was making decisions every 15 minutes, I had at least one situation where I could not remember approving something that I actually had approved some months before. I have a lot of empathy for Libby's position and think it is highly likely that is what happened. That is what he is saying happened and speaking from personal experience, I know it is possible for it to happen. Chris Matthews, on the other hand, is just the village idiot who got a news program.

Remember, once it was public knowledge that Richard Armitage was the source of the leak of the non-classified job held by Wilson's wife, Matthews stated that the story was now "too complicated" to cover.  But insinuating that the Vice President will lie on the stand is completely over the top (that being the standard for the left).  Seems like Matthews wants to have his (yellow)cake and eat it too.

And why would Cheney be begging the President for a pardon when Libby has not been convicted of a crime?  It seems to me that after all this plays out, it may well be good ol' Joe Wilson who is needing a pardon.

For some unfathomable reason, Matthews has been after Dick Cheney for about 20 years. If you'll recall, back during the Gulf War in 1988, Matthews penned column after column warning about the dangers from - who? - Hussein controlling Kuwait? No, Cheney and the hawks in the Pentagon.

The only thing that has changed in this storyline is that Matthews substitutes "neoconservatives" for "hawks."

Bizarre.

Remember: If Matthews had had his way policy-wise these past two decades, Saddam Hussein would still be in power, would be in control of Kuwait (and probably the oil fields of eastern Saudi Arabia) and have nuclear weapons.

But we'd have stability, according to Matthews.

Of course Libby is guilty, Chris!  After all, he's a republican is he not? Why, we don't need no stinking trial, just send him straight to the slammer and throw the key away! On second thought, forget the slammer, why dont we send him to the gallows? Better yet, Chris, why not just take him out behind the courthouse and have him shot!

I think Christopher is so burned up with vile hatred for conservatives, and Cheney in particular, that he now appears to have completely lost his grip on reality.

I think Matthews is projecting. Since Matthews would lie in court then everyone must, specially if it is a “white” lie or a lie about sex.

But with the Libby case prosecutors like Fitzgerald in this case and Nifong in the Duke rape case are why we can’t have the death penalty in this country. Can you imagine if this were a death penalty case and not a perjury case? Fitzgerald would be determined to hang Mr. Libby from Vice President Cheney’s office window, whether guilty or not. Get in these prosecutors's way at your peril.

I hope when this is over Mr. Libby can sue, win and collect many millions of dollars.

Mr. Matthews is a self-hater. He has to wear the stain and stigma of being a staffer in what may be the worst presidential administration in the history of our country, Jimmy Carter's*. [*A tie with Mrs. Clinton's 8 year reign of PMS]         The verbal beat down administered to Chris, on his own show, by United States Marine Zell Miller will always be a fond memory. 

Matthews once again proves what a complete arse he is.

He is really living in la-la land because he has been bound and determined not to be proven wrong, which would be hysterically funny if it weren't so hypocritically maddening that he already has been proven wrong on everything concerning the Joe Wilson/Plame ordeal, Wilson is even cowering about testifying, which Matthews does not mention at all...but most of all, he has never said he was dead wrong ....ever!
