My pal Cam Edwards at NRANews.com forwarded an example of media incompetence followed by arrogance on the issue of the state of Ohio pre-empting local gun laws:
The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reversed course on the issue of firearms pre-emption laws, writing an editorial in favor of pre-emption back in August and then slamming the idea a few weeks ago. Chad Baus, from Buckeye Firearms Association, had a lengthy and funny email exchange with the head of the editorial page. You can find the whole story here.
Baus found a clear case of an editorial writer who had not read the bill he was writing about, and an editorial page editor who refused to admit they hadn't read it.

December 15, 2006 - 06:47 ET by Andrew H.It's so hard to get past a liberal's preconceived set of beliefs, they stumble and fall, lie and hide away, dear Horatio... it is their calling to bravely spew the established points of order in the universe as it is handed to them--until someone changes a point or two along the way--and then they can twist quickly to take up the new dictum.
It is the liberal foundation to restrict and eliminate freedoms. One peice here and there and error here and there along the path to their self-righteous proclamations how they know best for society does not deter the fools.
Liberalism is a convenient lie.

December 21, 2006 - 11:08 ET by jjindraI agree with your opinion on liberals, but Kevin O'Brien is a conservative. While most of the PD writers are liberals, O'Brien and much of the editorial board is either conservative or lean that way. He is a voice of reason at the Plain Dealer.

Wow. Just, wow.
I knew the American media was arrogant, but the Plain Dealer's rises to a level I've not seen since Clinton was in office! Consider the following excerpts from the end of the exchange...
In other words, "Okay, so you caught us pontificating on a subject about which we obviously know nothing, and misrepresenting the facts of the bill to the public. So what?"
