Gwyneth Paltrow Slams Liberals

By Howard Nemerov | December 04, 2006 | 19:43

A  A

Sometimes, you just need to afford a liberal enough microphones and cameras. Comparing us to people in the United Kingdom, actor Gwyneth Paltrow writes us off as stupid and boorish.

People don’t talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner.

I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilised than the Americans.1

The question is how does she come by this comparison, and who doe she refer to when determining who is smarter than whom.

Known By the Company She Keeps

In 2002, Paltrow donated $2,500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In 2004, she donated $1,500 to John Kerry.2 Going back to 2000, Paltrow gave donated $2,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, $1,000 to Emily’s List, and $1,200 to Al Gore.3

For those who are not familiar with Emily’s List, it is a “progressive” organization, promoting liberal issues like “pro-choice” on abortion:

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest grassroots political network, is dedicated to taking back our country from the radical right wing by electing pro-choice Democratic women to federal, state, and local office. We are a network of more than 100,000 Americans – from all across the country – committed to recruiting and funding viable women candidates; helping them build and run effective campaign organizations; training the next generation of activists; and mobilizing women voters to help elect progressive candidates across the nation.4

Their list of endorsed candidates who won seats in Congress reads like a Who’s Who of gun control, another liberal policy of questionable value to women and children. Being so committed to liberalism, as shown by her contributions to liberal candidates and causes, we can safely assume that most of the American people she interacted with were liberal like her. Thus, her judgment of the low levels of social graces in America is based upon her overwhelming experience with liberals.

This is a definite possibility, considering recent boorish behavior by a drunken Danny DeVito berating President Bush on during a TV interview, making faces and grunting noises in an embarrassing attempt to do his interpretation of the President’s speech and mannerisms.5 Then there is Jesse Jackson, a married man with five children, who would not “be a father” to his illegitimate child.6

The “General Public” Option

Perhaps Ms. Paltrow referred to the quality of American education, but the result is the same. Since 1990, the education industry donated nearly $75 million, 68% of total contributions, to Democrats.7 Of the top 100 donor organizations 1990-2006, the National Education Association ranks second overall, giving over $21 million, 95% of that to Democrats. The American Federation of Teachers, ranked 17th, donated over $15 million, 99% to Democrats.8 So if Ms. Paltrow means that America is stupid in the general sense, the liberals in charge of our educational system are to blame.

Conclusion

Any way you cut it, Ms. Paltrow hit the nail on the head. Based upon her extensive experience in the–primarily liberal–world of entertainment on both sides of the pond, she proclaimed what only a liberal can say without enduring piles of hate mail: liberals have made major contributions to the stupefaction of America and…it’s working!
