For Disputing Iraq in 'Civil War,' Olbermann Names MRC/NB's Bozell 'Worst in World'

On Thursday's Countdown, MSNBC's Keith Countdown made Brent Bozell, President of the Media Research Center which runs NewsBusters, the “winner” of his nightly “Worst Person in the World.” Bozell's offense? Asserting that “probably a hundred Generals in the field in Iraq would disagree” with describing the situation in Iraq as a “civil war.” Olbermann demanded: “Okay, name them. We're waiting.” But seconds before Olbermann had inadvertently made Bozell's case as he recalled how “in August and September alone, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Pace and General Abizaid and General Casey all admitted that at minimum, Iraq could be headed to civil war.” Yes, “could” be “headed” for civil war, but not in one.

And, for someone who propounds to be such a stickler for accuracy (on Tuesday he ridiculed FNC for dropping one letter from his name), Olbermann flubbed a basic fact. Just as he did the last time he denounced Bozell as the “worst” (November 3 NewsBusters item), Olbermann called the Media Research Center the Media Research “Council.”

Olbermann's November 30 slam in full:

“Tonight's winner, the inimitable Bozo himself, Brent Bozell, creator of the self-described Media Research Council. Even though in August and September alone, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Pace, and General Abizaid and General Casey all admitted that at minimum, Iraq could be headed to civil war, Bozell said of the decision to call it a civil war quote, 'probably a hundred Generals in the field in Iraq would disagree.' Okay, name them. We're waiting. Make it easier: Just name twenty five. Brent Bozell, today's Worst Person in the World!”

What part of this does he not understand?......Yes, “could” be “headed” for civil war, but not in one.

Even his most ardent watchers must by now be tired of the worn-out, phony worst person segment.  It's immature and asinine at best.

I imagine a nine-year-old with a whiny voice when I hear that segment.

That particular variety of stupidity, as a number of us have noted before, is a 2-way street...

Civil war

What does it matter what generals think?  Olbermutt and NBC News have declared it a civil war.  That should be enough for you.  </sarcasm>

The media has been whining ab

The media has been whining about Iraq "heading for civil war" for at least the past 14-16  months.  The networks CANNOT WAIT for that to happen so that we can learn our lesson, go home, and declare war on the REAL terrorists: the successful, and terrorist organizations like Wal-Mart, of course.

I hope that Mr. Bozell wears this accolade (if you piss of Mr. Olbermann, you HAVE to be doing something right!) like a Badge of Honor!

How is it the MSM always gets to define the terms of the debate? It's crazy that it has come down to constant character assassination, defamation and ridicule.

Never once have I ever heard them do anything but throw around hyperbole and use sophistry to make arguments with holes so big, you could drive the QE2 through them. Yet, they're always lauded as the smartest in the room with the soundest arguments. I've known six year olds with better judgment and reasoning.

Apparently you've met John Edward's six year old, who knows all about the evils of Walmart (while his dad's staffer tries to cut the line for the latest video game).

Gotta give it to the six year olds....they're smarter than all of the dems and the MsM, too.

Brent, you must be doing some

Brent, you must be doing something right or Olbermann wouldn't be making such a big stink out of it. Keep up the great work!

Excellent to be named as the worst by the idiot.  It's a badge of honor!

The opposite of Olbermann=goo

The opposite of Olbermann=good, smart, right, intelligent, patriotic, decent.   Brent and Newsbusters, thank you.

Oh, you bad, bad evil meanie conservatives and critics! How dare you question the all-powerful and omnipotent media?!!!  They said it's a civil war, so it's a civil war, stupid! (P.S. Ignore that man behind the curtain....)

Keith O.=God, you are a gobshite and an elitist.

It won't be long now for that venerable institution, MSNBC....Can't wait to say bye-bye to those jerks.

If you're not pissing off the Left you're not doing something right. Everytime they lash out like that you know you've scored a hit.

Well then I must be doing things right all the time. I piss off Liberals so often, can't count how many times it happens.

They HATE it when I come to their parties and question their little bitch sessions. I ask hard questions to which they all turn and attack as if I am the Dark Lord himself.

I've actually asked questions in such a way that had the entire room yelling at me..... the best part was, the question was peppered with examples from history with the words of those who think just like them (and in hindsight we knew they were wrong) and those that think like me (and in hindsight.... they were those who saved our collective asses) and they just go ballistic.... question their reality and you become Satan to them.

I’ve been kicked out of forums before that had a section called “Off the Wall” that allowed any conversation…. except of course… if you happen to be a conservative who constantly called the ruling libs on the forum “distorters” and “sophists”, and then proceeded to prove it with facts and historical truths.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

The liberal loon Olberman ask

The liberal loon Olberman asks questions into air--reminds me of an adolescent making an argument outside earshot of his teacher.  He doesn't have the kahunnas to have Brent on his show and ask the question in person.  Instead he hides behind the lense of a PMSNBC camera and couragously throws his voice into the void of audience.  Not much of a man this Olberman.

Never relent.

Guilty

Insects in the msm like Herr olbermann are as guilty of American deaths as if they pulled the trigger or set off the bomb himself.

This Marine remembers it all, in the same way, during the Viet Nam era. Since the msm is so anxious to compare Iraq to Viet Nam, I am willing to let them do that and let them accept responsibility for American deaths now, just like in Viet Nam then.

You are responsible for American deaths, Herr Olbermann.

Congratulations Mr. Bozell, y

Congratulations Mr. Bozell, you've been indicted by a communist leaning, secular retard from MSNBC...

Nothing better than that my friend...

Thanks again for the plug, Keithie.

I'm quite sure Mr. Bozell really appreciates it, as do all of us here.

As an aside, Keithie, I am sure that right about now, somewhere way down deep in the bowels of hell, Joseph Goebbels is awfully proud of you.

Oh, and Heil Hitler! Keithie.

They say that ignorance is bliss.

Olbermann, therefore, must be the most  hilariously, happy person in the universe.

The problem is, and I doubt you can see it, is that you have exhorted all of us to stop chugging the Kool-Aid and think for ourselves.  Has it occurred to you that some of us here have no party affiliation but do in fact have a political philosophy?

Not to mention that the Leftists are as guilty of getting greedy with the Kool-Aid as anyone else, if not more so (for the lack of the diversity of viewpoints within that side of the spectrum).  So to us, it rings hollow.

I had to look, and got just what I expected... pwned ?!  Hardly! A few examples:

"Just thought I would check out theBozell was certain: The Post knowingly misled readers because Webb's ads were flooded with words and images about his military service, as well as his son's."

"Note to Bozell -- go here and watch Webb's nine television campaign commercials and count the number that mentioned his service in Vietnam. Then count the number that mentioned his son's duties in Iraq and let us know if you'd like to change the phrasing of your column from "relentlessly" (as in Webb "relentlessly" mentioned his military service) to "rarely" -- since that, after all, would actually be accurate. (In the nine ads, just two referenced Webb's Vietnam days, and only one mentioned Webb's son's current duty.)"

Of course no mention about which of the "nine ads" got the most airtime...

"In another election-related harangue, Bozell complained that television news teams didn't give the administration enough credit when gas prices began to fall during the summer. "Instead, they ... shamelessly advanced Lyndon LaRouche-style conspiracy theories about how Republicans somehow were manipulating gas prices downward in order to get themselves elected," Bozell wrote."

But that wasn't a LaRouche-style conspiracy theory. According to a Gallup poll released in September, 42 percent of Americans thought the Bush administration was manipulating gas prices for political advantage. Meaning, it was newsworthy. But because it reflected poorly on Bush, lazy right-wing press critics called it bias.

Gallup must have polled the 42% of americans who get spoon fed the answers to their polls through the MSM...as is documented here on NB daily.   And by the way that means a majority of Americans did NOT think gas prices were being manipulated. Isn't that what polls are for, to find out what the majority think?
