It seems that one prominent member of the ultra-left in our country is starting to get the sinking feeling that he was duped by the Democrat bait and switch campaign strategy. Schlockumentartist and leading propagandist Michael Moore practically issued a fatwa at his website Wednesday demanding Democrats bring American troops home from Iraq immediately or suffer the consequences in the next elections (grateful hat tip to NB member “aero”, emphasis mine throughout):
The responsibility to end this war now falls upon the Democrats. Congress controls the purse strings and the Constitution says only Congress can declare war. Mr. Reid and Ms. Pelosi now hold the power to put an end to this madness. Failure to do so will bring the wrath of the voters. We aren't kidding around, Democrats, and if you don't believe us, just go ahead and continue this war another month. We will fight you harder than we did the Republicans. The opening page of my website has a photo of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, each made up by a collage of photos of the American soldiers who have died in Bush's War. But it is now about to become the Bush/Democratic Party War unless swift action is taken.
Moore followed with an outline that couldn’t be any clearer:
This is what we demand:
1. Bring the troops home now. Not six months from now. NOW. Quit looking for a way to win. We can't win. We've lost. Sometimes you lose. This is one of those times. Be brave and admit it.
2. Apologize to our soldiers and make amends. Tell them we are sorry they were used to fight a war that had NOTHING to do with our national security. We must commit to taking care of them so that they suffer as little as possible. The mentally and physically maimed must get the best care and significant financial compensation. The families of the deceased deserve the biggest apology and they must be taken care of for the rest of their lives.
3. We must atone for the atrocity we have perpetuated on the people of Iraq. There are few evils worse than waging a war based on a lie, invading another country because you want what they have buried under the ground. Now many more will die. Their blood is on our hands, regardless for whom we voted. If you pay taxes, you have contributed to the three billion dollars a week now being spent to drive Iraq into the hellhole it's become. When the civil war is over, we will have to help rebuild Iraq. We can receive no redemption until we have atoned.
And simply concluded: “We demand the Democrats listen to us and get out of Iraq now.”
Those of you that have been following this blog the past few weeks know that I have been questioning what will happen when folks begin to realize just how much they were scammed by the Democrats and the media in this election. Frankly, there were more lies and shameless distortions of reality during this campaign than conceivably any in history, and the press were a huge part of it.
If folks like Moore are starting to get angry, one has to wonder when this begins to become apparent to the Netroots. At that point, something is likely to hit the fan. We shall know in the fullness of time just what that substance is.

November 30, 2006 - 15:37 ET by UnsaneWhy is it that every time I see Michael Moore, I get the image of a 300-400 pound baby, sitting on the ground, crying very loudly, demanding that everyone else (in the form of the government) feed him , clothe him, shelter him, change him, and provide him his free milk and cookies?
Of course he doesn't want a military, for the same reason the other Leftists who post on here don't want a military. Because: without a military, the government can't do all of the functions of United Way and thus spoil, coddle, and pamper people just like European governments do. November 30, 2006 - 16:31 ET by BruzillaI think this is indicative of a lot more than just campain promises coming home to roost on the shoulders of Democrats. For years now they have claimed that the war was all based on a lie, that Iraq never had WMDs, that Iraq never provided assistance to terrorists, that there's no links between Al Qaeda and Iraq, etc., and now they're going to have to start coming clean with the facts. They know that there's no way on Earth we can pull out of Iraq; they know that Iraq did have WMDs and at some point someone's going to have to account for what happened to them; they know Iraq did support Al Qaeda even if they didn't have anything to do with 9/11; and they know that what Bush has been saying about Iraq being where terrorist groups are expending their energy and assets is true. I would expect for lots and lots of "new evidence" to suddenly surface in a February Surprise mode early next year. And when it does I'm sure Pilosi and the MSM will be just as shocked and flabbergasted as they were when they discovered evidence that Murtha is just as crooked as Cunningham was.

November 30, 2006 - 16:43 ET by GalvanicThe Dems know that their coalition of special interest groups is like a herd of cats, and that trying to please them all has been their Achilles Heel in past elections.
So, in 2006, they got smart. They focused on the New Direction (for the Iraq war) without committing to a timetable, and packed around it populist issues such as raising the minimum wage, universal health care, etc. They avoided political third rails such as same sex marriage, fixing Social Security, et al.
And it worked -- they returned to power in the Congress without having to commit too much politically, and that was a considerable accomplishment.
But now they have to deal with soothing all those special interest groups again. They no longer have the "We can't help now, but wait until we're in charge" cover.
Their rabid poodle --- Michael Moore --- is DEMANDING immediate troop withdrawal. And if he doesn't get what he wants, will he make a pseudo-documentary about the liars running the DP? Hey, that's one Moore film I would actually go see.
