Drunken DeVito Slams Bush on ABC's 'View' (with Video)

  • Bookmark and Share

As Matt Drudge reported earlier, actor Danny DeVito seemed drunk when he went on an anti-Bush tirade on ABC’s The View on Wednesday. DeVito recounted how he last visited the White House during the Clinton years, warmly noting that "the place was, had that kind of Clinton feeling, you know," before denigrating President Bush as "numb nuts" (or something like that — ABC bleeped over the last part of that word).

DeVito then began what was supposed to be mimicry of Bush, making a variety of weird sounds and facial expressions. It’s impossible to really capture DeVito’s performance in words (he’d admitted he’d been up partying all night with George Clooney), so I’ve posted a short video of one of his more explosive moments. Video Clip: Real (1.97 MB), Windows (2.26 MB), MP3 (338KB)

After his Bush-bashing, DeVito then asked the panel what they thought about "the hat trick last week — Rumsfeld, the House and the Senate," referring to the Democrats’ election victories and Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld’s stepping down. DeVito announced how he reacted to the news: "I took my clothes off."

Update: Devito apologizes to Barbara Walters "...for anything that could be constructed as unfortunate" See ABCNews

Good line. I'm going to pinch that in my next blog if you don't mind. The number of drunken degenerates from Hezbollywood are being increased as the clubbing of the new Lohan generation becomes the rage. DeVito is in a career tailspin that isn't as bad as Michael Richards' but given time will crash and burn appropriately. I pity Elizabeth Hasselbeck for having to put up with hags, harpies, and worse on a daily basis.

A theory

Let me posit a theory on the timeline. DeVito is out drinking with his buddy Clooney. He makes it to Fox sober, but dehydrated. He finishs at Fox and is limoed to The View. Dehydrated, he cracks open the free bar in the limo and quenchs his thirst. He spends the trip wiping out the free bar in the limo. Now at the show, there is no more boooze, but it is kicking in. By the time he is interviewed, he is drunk again or at least seriously buzzed.

I'm confused by the time line. Did DeVito stay in the White House when Clinton was president, or Bush?

If the latter, why would you wholesale trash someone who provided you with such a unique opportunity that few will ever enjoy?

I expect we'll hear any day now that DeVito is entering rehab. Not that he necessarily needs it, but that it's the celeb thing to do to try and soothe situations and deflect the blame from a personality flaw to a "sickness."

I have never seen such vitriolic communism/leftism at it's finest being spewed since the mid-terms elections...the hatred is rabid and will not end soon, it can and will get worse, the silence from the conservatives is getting rather disgusting...

The utter disrespect for this President is beyond the pale....the disrespect for the military is beyond words that I can print here, the utter unrealistic world these people live in is almost to the point that they are not worth fighting for anymore in many ways....Devito is just one of many.

I am to the point that another attack is about what will and should happen to wake up these creatures...of course it will be President Bush's fault.

I saw Danny on Fox and Friends, too, and he didn't seem drunk to me. I'm no expert on drunks, but wouldn't he be drunker at 7:00 a.m. on Fox than he was at 10:00 a.m. on the View? I believe both shows were live. Something's not right here.

Perhaps the presence of such

Perhaps the presence of such refined and erudite ladies such as O'Donnell and Walters was just too much for Mr. DeVito, and he was overcome with their intoxicating aromas.

I haven't been watching much

I haven't been watching much of F&F since the election (still in recovery, so to speak). Was the interview with Bill McCuddy? I have noticed that some of his interviews are treated as live, but turn out to be taped. Not all that often, but sometimes they will make a comment that makes it clear the interview was not live. I think the only time they can be guaranteed to be live is if the entire gang is there.

Otherwise - you are right. Something is fishy because he was definitely (IMHO) drunk and slurring his words.

Not sure I can watch Danny again after this. Ah, well. I never expect much out of Hollywood anyway, but they keep sinking below my expectations.

Devito Intoxicated?

Being sober 31+ years and being a professional movement therapist, I am not sure I see drunken behavior in the one-minute segment here. Judging from his bloated torso and neck and his forward-leaning posture, with legs spread to make room for his nebulous abdomen, it appears that Danny is transmuting into a baboon. What was assumed to be Danny making fun of GWB's speaking abilities were really moments when he was losing control of his humanity, and the nascent baboonism developing in his brain took over. Along with the fascial gestures, it appears he was performing a mating dance. Fortunately for him, there was a female baboon sitting to his right. Yet another actor I will never see again. And to think that I used to consider him and Arnold funny in Twins and Mr. Mom, only to find out they're both Democrats.

Bal,

Check your own last two posts: "I know that but..." Kinda was the point, dude. You DO "know that." The "but" was kind of like "asking for it," IMHO.

And this: "your dismissive attitude toward anything you don't agree with." Coupled with this, same post: "I don't think there's anything wrong with disagreeing with the way something is stated." Sounds a bit at odds with itself, doesn't it? But that's what's going on here, I think; people disagreeing with THE WAY Devito "stated" his opinion. Which, he didn't really STATE, per se. Just "acted out."

Which leads to SP's post: "bal posting: blah blah blah blah, duh duh duh doi doi doi, nyit nyit nyit niyt * slapping face* arrggh arggh duh duh um um um um um ummm * fisting under chin gobbler* ahh ahh err errr errr ehh ehh eh."

IMHO, once again, I believe Sport was merely offering his impression of DeVito. Caught it on about the third read-through, but I think that was the gist. Note the "slapping face" and "fisting under chin gobbler" reference. Did you watch the clip? I wouldn't have got it if I hadn't. <edit> So, the "psychosis" you reference just MAY be DeVito's. <end edit>

My thoughts on it, anyway. That's all.

And maybe, just maybe, people who happen to think George Bush is NOT the worst person who ever walked the planet are kind of tired of the whole "BushBash-Fest." I mean, all the liberals screamed when any conservative criticized Clinton, and he didn't get NEAR the heat Bush does, day in and day out, pretty much since the man became the nominee in 2000. Clinton was the media's "darling," from day one, and Bush has been it's "devil," again, from day one. No denying it, bal, not if you have the sense I give you credit for.

So maybe we're just a "mite techy" on that subject, sometimes, after 6 long years...

The mite problem

The mite problem is the dust mite that is going for bal's single viral cell for a small snack and bal's picking may not get the prize first.

Indiana Joe

Indiana Joe, it's clear bal is attempting to silence all oppposition. He might as well have DeVito stand on the couch and hold his hand over our mouths.

balboa has implied we don't have a right to voice our concerns.

balboa is for silencing us. He has made his vieled attempt ever clearer. I don't think that's right. Maybe I should just let balboa post, because doing anything else would infer that I might be taking about his right to oppose and detract and criticize Bush.

I MEAN HE IMPLIED IT, HE IMPLIED IT INDIAN JOE, BALBOA HAS IMPLIED THIS VERY THING.

I'M JUST TRYING TO MAKE POINT.

I'M JUST-- GEE... BAL JUST CUT ME OFF...

( Hi, my name is BALBOA, and I'm a 3 year old ****ing ***ot, who thinks that others here have demanded that noone can criticize President Bush. Well, I'm ****ing d***, that's all there is to it. I wasn't causing trouble, I'm an i**** who can't get past saying someone else implied no criticism of Bush is ever allowed. **** me in the ***, I might get smarter that way.)

I understand now, no criticism is allowed of Bush, ever, because it has been implied. THANK YOU BALBOA, thank you thank you, what would we do without you ?

yeah balboa

Whatever balboa - it's like the same left wing NUANCE you liberals read into the words Saddam and Al Qaeda and/or 911 being the same sentence, paragraph, or speech given by Bush.

"as if to say" means you're a dingleberried retard.

I understand, you'll never understand, and defend your idiocy and lies, and soon you can go have fun talkin TV with your right wing friends who talk nice. In the mean time, here's looking at YOU: "blah blah blah blah, nyit nyit, uhh uhubhhh , doi doi "

Now, it seems to me as if you might have been leaning toward saying that overt attempts at having an implicative stance alluding to the idea that silencing all criticism of President Bush planetwide when Bush LIED saying Saddam did 911 is not the right appearance to create nor the way to get along with Bush hating detractors who can say and do whatever the hell they want and no one, NO ONE better even have the appearance of indicating they perhaps don't absolutely and wholeheartedly agree.

Right dingleberry !?

Thanks for admitting DeVito is crazy balboa

Thanks for admitting DeVito is crazy balboa. I appreciate that.

bal whining about a post from an NB regular, misses entirely the irony of the objection stated concerning Devito's "criticism"- balboa babling blindly > : [ I don't think there's anything wrong with disagreeing with the way something is stated.]

Aside from balboa's defense of his own complaint about another here copied above, he fails to see that he was criticizing the way others related how they disagreed with the way DeVito levelled criticism on The View. What did Devito say ? Something like this: " blah blah blah duh duh duh nyit nyit *slapped face* * knuckled up turkey gobbler* "

balboa, the braindead moron thinks only his disgust and distaste about the way someone levelled a criticism is valid.

There you have the mental retardation psychosis of balboa. If he wasn't so da***d stupid, it wouldn't be funny.

So balboa, I understand, you get to whine about someone's method of sharing frustration over DeVito's hungover stupidity, but when they say it "the wrong way", there's nothing wrong with you having a fit over it, and of course, them having a fit over DeVito's methodology just isn't "correct".

balboa, if you weren't so stupid, you'd be crazy.

Damn, I pulled down to <ed

Damn, I pulled down to <edit> just as you posted, Sport. Sounds like I was right about your "DeVito impression." DAMN! That's twice in two days, a new personal best! .... ;^D LMAO!!!

iveseenitall

iveseenitall, balboa simply forgot that you said Rush was hammered for mocking alzheimer boy, and the MSM won't hammer DeVito for mocking the President.

Somewhere along the 3 posts balboa's tiny protoplasmic retarded non-replicating single viral microscopic .00000001 micrvolt sentience lost track of things.

He was, of course, like he said an hour later, just trying to make a point, no big deal.

God, will you ever shut up or

God, will you ever shut up or stop whining about supposedly not being able to criticize the president? These people have no respect for the presidency or this country, period, and stop defending their obnoxious behavior. You do it all the time. I know you won't see this but your comment is so friggin' annoying.

Not even lukewarm milk, room temperature, dude.

That must be it- that 'I'm a moderate piece of unoffensive saltine cracker' act. I have the same reaction whenever I hear John Kerry or Bill Clinton open their mouths. I just want to punch them hard. Or, kick, or, both. Except, I wouldn't do that to Bal. I think he might be a first-grader.

No, but he is politically dead.

You mean...

So you mean to teach that a person with an illness deserves more human respect that the rest of humanity...rather bigotted hypocrisy but...that seems par for the course regarding liberal philosophy.

If you claim to be a conservative, please don't disgrace yourself and conservatism by thinking and arguing like a liberal.

True.In a country REALLY run

True.

In a country REALLY run by "Nazis" and "brown-shirts," DeVito wouldn't have the nerve to talk like that, no matter HOW "drunk" he was.

OR wasn't.

BlameTheMedia, Does that

BlameTheMedia,

Does that apply to Michael Richards as well?

Drinking yourself sober

As an alcoholic of many years of sobriety, I can tell you that it is possible to drink yourself sober, bizarre as that sounds. The alcoholic metabolizes alcohol differently than "normal" people. Regardless of the timing, it is possible for DeVito to be either drunker or soberer with each interview. His comments are typical of an alcoholic in denial. I expect to see him checked into Betty Ford in the next couple of days.

There was no commentary about him from the people on The View because he was saying (drunk or sober) what they were saying in their heads. Someone should check to see what it cost DeVito to screw his wife in the Lincoln Bedroom. That usually was not a freebie.

Our real problem, then, is not our strength today; it is rather the vital necessity of action today to ensure our strength tomorrow. Dwight Eisenhower

I wonder what would have happ

I wonder what would have happened if Devito had bashed the President on Fox and Friends instead of the View. He didn't seem durnk on F&F but three hours later he's smashed. Maybe he was just acting, so he could do his "bashing" and not be held as accountable as he would be if he was sober. He's a good actor. He's also a fool.

"He has called Barbara W

"He has called Barbara Walters to apologize for anything that could be construed as unfortunate," he said.

That's not an apology, Mr. DeVito. That's saying, if something you said was offensive, then it was in my interpretation, not in your actual choice of "unfortunate" words.

I think calling the president "numbnuts" demands a wholesale apology with actual remorse, and include directing the apology to President Bush in the process. Then I'll believe you. You've taken it beyond political disagreement. It's fine to criticize, but name-calling of the lowest order isn't acceptable when directed toward anyone in a public forum. Classless and stupid.

President Bush deserves at least as much as the African-American fans at Michael Richards' comedy show received when he went on Letterman to apologize.

Here, let me help you understand what an actual apology is: "While I disagree with the President on many issues, the things that I said on "The View" were unacceptable. I regret my characterization of our president. I apologize for what I said."

What always amazes me is how

What always amazes me is how stupid entertainers are that they would insult half of the audience that they depend on for income. If one-third of the electorate is truly liberal and one-third is truly conservative, and one-half of the remaining one-third leans right then they are p*ssing off half their audience with their political rantings. This is proof that they are mental midgets.
