Colbert Mocks Limbaugh's Addiction, Compares Him to Manson, Franken Thrusts Pelvis

The November 15 edition of "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central offered more proof of comedian Stephen Colbert's ineffective charade at pretending to be a conservative. The hatred for conservatives comes through loud and clear as Colbert mocked Rush Limbaugh's addiction to Vicodin and compared him to mass-murder-inspiring Charles Manson. Minutes later, he invited Al Franken to do a victory dance for Democrats, and Franken chanted "We took the House and Senate" as he thrusted his pelvis to cheers and applause.

Colbert, the fake conservative, began by announcing his fake anger and sadness at the election returns, and then displayed how "America's newsman, Rush Limbaugh," was dealing with it: " They aired a video clip of Limbaugh's radio show: "But, the way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I'm going just going, I’m just going to tell you as plainly as I can why: I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried." To which Colbert replied: "It's true. He has carried a lot of water over the years and not just to help him swallow all those pills. (Cheers and applause) But, but you know what? I'll, I’ll let Rush explain."

[Clip of Limbaugh: "But, there have been a bunch of things going on in Congress. Some of this legislation coming out of there that, that, that I have just, I’ve just cringed at, and it has been difficult coming in here trying to make the case for it when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves."]

Colbert: "Do you have any idea how hard it is to convince the American public to believe in things that you don't? And all he gets in return is $35 million a year? But Rush's mea culpa and accompanying 'me-a so relieved' didn't satisfy everyone. His critics have been pounding him. Take a look at this: ‘I'm so sorry Limbaugh had to lie through his teeth to try and keep in the good graces of his Republican masters. Have you ever heard of intellectual honesty, Mr. Limbaugh?' That little gem was written by Andrew Sullivan, a friend of the show, enemy of marriage. Yes! Yes, Rush has heard of intellectual honesty, Andrew. Did you not just hear him being intellectually honest about not being intellectually honest before? I think you're confusing honesty with consistency."

It's at this point where Colbert compares Limbaugh to Charles Manson:

"Then there's this one: ‘He hides his resentment and hostility behind a mask of superficial ingratiation. Even his cries for help represent a desire for attention with only superficial meaning.’ That one was by– Oh, no, I'm sorry. That wasn't about Rush Limbaugh. That was from the 1962 prison evaluation of Charles Manson. (Cheers and applause as Colbert pretends to be puzzled at his joke.) Hmm. The point is get off Rush's back. You know his back is injured. That's how he got on those painkillers."

Then Colbert invited Franken to come out, and declared: "Do your little victory dance. You must be feeling great about this election."

Al Franken: "You know what’s interesting? Bush, before the election, said that, oh, Democrats are doing dancing in end zone before the results are in. And this is a guy who did ‘Mission Accomplished’ on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. So, I'm going to do my victory dance. You have to pretend though...You can do that, that I am in his flight suit with the, with the huge codpiece. So I'll do my– It’s, it’s--"

Colbert: "That’s going to be tough, Al. That’s going to be tough. Okay. I got it. Go ahead."

Franken: "Imagine– Use your-- So this is our victory dance ‘cause the President said that we're dancing in the end zone. (Motioning to his crotch.) So, this is like, a big cod piece, going– (Beginning pelvic thrusts) We took the House and the Senate! We took the House and the Senate! We took the House and Senate! We took the House and Senate! (Wild cheers and applause.) That was for the President. That was for the President."

Colbert: "I understand. On behalf of millions of Americans, let me just say-- (makes throwing up motion.) Now, but Al, listen, would you like to apologize to Rush Limbaugh for attacking him for things you know he didn't even mean? Because I'm sure you went to town on him for some of the things he said."

Franken displayed his usual meanness: "I did. I will not– I will not apologize to him until he thanks me for saving his life. You know, I wrote ‘Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations.’ And, I, I wrote that because at the time he was very, very, very fat. Just huge. Like, enormously, like morbidly obese. Huge, fat, fat, fat, man with a huge, huge, huge, uh, gut and a big fat ass. And then he lost all the weight because of the title of my book and did not thank me for saving his life. I saved his life."

Colbert used that as an occasion to plug Franken's latest book: "Okay, well, fair is fair. Al, as long as you brought up books, you have a new book here. It’s the paperback version of your book, ‘The Truth With Jokes.’ First of all, thank you for the paperback version. It is way easier to catch fire than the hardback version. This makes fantastic kindling. For Christmas that yule log a couple of these underneath that and here it goes."

Franken: "A hardcover actually has the kindling and the cover burns longer."

Colbert: "Okay, well then, so don't buy this book. Don't buy this book."

Franken: "You're right."

Colbert then plugged Franken's other project, his often-rumored run for the U.S. Senate to defeat Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in 2008. A member of the liberal audience screamed, "Run, Al. Run, Al! (Cheers and applause ) Do it!"

Franken said to Colbert: "People love you– People love you in Minnesota."

Colbert: "I know that. Yeah. They’re not all Garrison Keillor, Al. It’s the heartland."

Franken: "It is. People love you there. Bring the show there, I’ll announce on the show."

What can be nastier than

What can be nastier than the combination drug addiction and politics, everything is a complete mess, but these people don't understand that making public personal details for any person has a major influence on public. "If a politician can afford the mistake to become addict, then so do I"... Some more diplomacy wouldn't hurt, people expect more from you.

Having never watched "Co

Having never watched "Colbert," since his act on Comedy Central was an obvious "send-up" of "conservative thought" from the beginning, I can't say I'm surprised at all. And, just as with Jon Stewart, if objections are raised, it will be dismissed as "just entertainment." Yes, but "entertainment" with an agenda.

To be really fair and entertaining, Colbert should be as "real" a conservative as Stewart is a "real" liberal. Or vice-versa. Satire DOES cut both ways, you know, ComCent.

The sad thing is I have sever

The sad thing is I have several college educated liberal friends who think that the Daily Show is good for news.  They think that it is REAL news with jokes.  They dont realize that they make up most of this stuff out of whole cloth.  This is what the left has to do, they have to make up news to keep their consitutents uninformed.  The left fears the informed voter.

Made up news

I don't have as much trouble with the fact they "make up" the news.  It's a comedy show.  If you're too dim witted to know that, you deserve to be clueless.  What gets me, however, is how liberals most consistent "debating" tactic is too attack a person's intelligence or appearance.  You're fat and stupid is brilliant for a 2nd grader, not for supposed "intellectuals."  And Franken... oh my God... what a tool.

When The Daily Show started i

When The Daily Show started it used to "Make up" the news, but if you have watched it recently it has become almost the same as a regular news outlet. Real Stories with jokes, all with a twist of liberalism.  Its a good way to convince young kids that conservatives are wrong since thats what the whole show is now focused at.

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.

The Manson joke wasn't that

The Manson joke wasn't that great, and (as usual) Franken wasn't that funny, but the "confusing honesty with consistency" part made me bust out laughing. I found it hilarious, and Glenn Reynolds made the same point regarding Limbaugh's water-carrying comments right after the election. I only hope Fox's proposed news-humor show (which ideally should mock Jon Stewart) is as regularly-funny as Colbert is.
JMR

You could see this as funny,

You could see this as funny, I suppose, especially if you dislike Limbaugh. I would tell Limbaugh that he should be aware that this attack naturally follows any admission of "carrying water," which does imply you're fighting for something that's not inherently near and dear to your heart. (It can be over-implying to find dramatic insincerity in the "water-carrying." Rush could be saying, 'I've been touting Bush as conservative, and now that Bush is going to be kissy-kissy with Pelosi, it won't even look plausible.")

Colbert is obviously carrying Jon Stewart's water, if not the liberal Comedy Central base in general.

Huh?  That's a joke.

Of course, you could insert any number of names in there --- Bill Clinton, John Kerry, et al --- and it makes just as much sense.  But is it funny?

This is why I stopped watching The Daily Show shortly after Jon Stewart took over as the host, and I don't watch the Colbert Report at all.

I didn't watch this particular addition to the Colbert Report, but Colbert is rather sharp with a retorical quip and his show is often funny.  But on a more serious and non-politically correct note:  what's up with Colbert's right ear.  His right ear appears deformed when you look at him head on, but if you see his right ear it looks normal?  It's almost like the bottom half of his ear is stuck to his head??  How does that happen?  I know it's not polite in genteel society to point out a person's deformities and Lord's knows I'm not perfect, but jeez oh pete's.

I've never found this guy to be funny, and I have no particular inclination to watch him or Stewart on the Comedy Channel (which stopped being funny 5 or 6 years ago, with the exception of "South Park" and "The Man Show"). Colbert's best work, if you can call it that, was the "Mr. Goodwrench" commercials. He probably should have quit while he was behind. And f**k Al Franken, who's never, ever been funny or right about anything.

I prefer my comedy free of obnoxious leftist spin. It's getting harder and harder to find that these days. Just my humble opinion.

Uncle John, I'd say it's damn near impossible to find comedy free of obnoxious leftist spin these days.  Same is true with drama.  Some of the new shows this year are quite generously sprinkled with leftist and anti-American, anti-Bush type dialog. This Brothers and Sisters series is one example.  Every episode has some gratuitous comment by one or more of the characters that is specifically desiged to make Conservatives, Christians, and anyone who might be a Bush supporter, look stupid and moronic.  The other night I was watching Criminal Minds and it was appalling.  The portrayal of Gitmo and the interrogation methods used was grossly slanted and bias, making it look like a torture chamber.

I happen to be a fan of the Colbert Report, and it can be quite funny at times. That being said, when he goes into his leftist rants the humor runs dry and at times sounds sounds like some of the stuff Stewart says. Colbert is a gifted comedian, and is pretty funny at times, but he can become very unfunny at times. I think wat he said about Rush was highly inappropriate, but Rush, being the guy he is, will probably just ignore it, and take the high road.

Minor point, but I'm pretty sure that expressing an opinion is not necessarily "squealing". So sue me for splitting hairs.

The reason I said (and I st

The reason I said (and I stand-by) the word "squealing" is that this is ostensibly a media bias site. Both of Comedy Central's fake-news shows are of course blatantly-biased, but both admit it. Unlike various "real" news-reader celebrities we've busted here, Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert both don't try to hide behind some false veneer of "impartiality;" one's honestly-leftist & the other literally makes a living mocking that authoritarian Bill O'Reilly. So to me, NB's squealing about this fake-news show's bias is as ridiculous as MediaMatters would be if they whined about Limbaugh being "biased" (and for all I know, they might -- I haven't checked!). The ratings say it all, and Colbert so-far seems to do pretty well at what he's doing. IMO he, like Limbaugh, should continue giving the people what they want.

I only saw Colbert on a 60 Minutes piece. They showed a couple of his"bits?". I found him childish and asinine and not a bit funny. I stopped watching Letterman a loooong time ago when I caught that his political humor was totally one-sided. My experience with Leno is that he roasts all sides. I believe him to be liberal but not extreme. I think he focuses on making people laugh at "whatever". I still tune in for his monologue, often.

Liberal only want to debate Conservative Strawman

Have you noticed that liberals are totally unable to state the conservative case or argument on any issue?  ex:  Conservative opposition to government funding of embryonic stem cell research  morphs in their mind to Conservative opposing stem cell research.

Do a little experiment ask a liberal to argue the conservative side of an issue, present the conservative case in the most convincing fashion they can.

What you will get is not the conservative position but a Doonesbury cartoon version of our viewpoint.

On the other hand, I don't know about you but I can argue the liberals case in a far more convincing manner than the vast majority of their talking heads argue the liberal case.

What is weird is that on many of the issues that Liberals and Conservatives debate their is a very strong, difficult to refute, plausible liberal side of the argument; yet, instead a vast majority of time they resort to 'begging the question' 'ad hominums' "straw man"  logical fallacies as well as transparent falsehoods.

I think it is very telling that they duck serious intellectual debate on controversial issues and  are unable to reproduce anything but a caricature of our views, at the same time imagining themselves to possess the  intelligent and educated viewpoint.

Isn't it odd that Ann Coulter can appear on a college campus which employs 500+  liberal intellectuals with PhDs, and not one of them shows up to refute her  to engage in intellectual debate (which according to their own mythology, they should win easily) instead they send some undergraduates to shout her down with threats and obscenities.   If they really had truth on their side you would think they would want to attend an Ann Coulter speech and systematically logically take her claims apart one by one and expose her as an intellectual fraud.  The fact they don't makes you wonder if maybe they don't have the truth on their side.

-- also, note how difficult it is to engage a liberal on this forum?  You try and either they disappear or you get a face full of venom, lame liberal urban myths, wild generalizations, and a series of textbook examples of classical logical fallacies.

beard the lion in his den

It's not as relevant to have us all doing this Liberal slice and dice amongst ourselves. We just ponder it to ourselves. If we're the people we say we are, let's bring it to them in their own blogs, let 'em have some right wing cyber-knuckle sandwiches over at Kos, at Huffingtonpost Blog, and into their homes. It's only after they've absorbed a little punishment these cretins give it up and ban you. They've done that to me. But only after I made a punching-bag out of a few of the regulars in there. Naturally, be prepared to receive the typical Liberal hate-mongering. You can't win something of value without getting dissed. But it's worth it to see them on their canvas-backs, having their obscene hissy fit.

We should make it a daily strategy, with our website itinerary planned out carefully. I myself would be very grateful if other conservatives here would teach me the proper method of changing to new web addy & returning repeated under a new password, just the way rhayes and many negative trolls do in here. I'd love to sit Huffington Post on its ass once more. Go for it, Pals!

Had the same thing happen to

Had the same thing happen to me in the Yahoo blogs, which was my first experience into the blogosphere (what eventually led me here).

I got personal emails from one of the "editors" (who you would think should be neutral, but who was in fact also a lefty and posts on both sides frequently). He noted several incidents where I supposedly violated rules by making personal attacks, but when I countered with examples of liberals doing the same thing against me (complete with cut and pastes of their own words and references to specific dates and times) and asked why I hadn't received the usual onscreen warning that many of them had, he got defensive. Then when I accused him of being biased in favor of these same people, he just got angry and banned me immediately, without any further discussion.

They simply can't stand it when you use their tactics against them, or when you mount a logical defense of your position which they cannot refute with stereotype drivel and name calling.

Colbert: counterfeit conservative - he's moronic

Anyone who has the crassness to mock someone’s addictions has their own addiction, themselves. Limbaugh is one of a myriad of folks facing an ongoing battle with addiction. So, why the target on Limbaugh’s back?

Colbert’s smugness will one day come back and grab him by the a**, then he’ll understand, what goes around comes around.

""Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use, too many whites are getting away with drug sales, too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

He really believed that HE was now the last beer for sale in the whole stadium! America had to love him! He was nothing but piss, stale left-over Nam piss, playing the part. We NEED the Rush Limbaughs, what we don't need is you and your so-called war hero.

Colbert, Stewert, Maher, Franken, and all their ilk are about as funny as listening to a speech from Algore...about as important too.

Colbert is funny...even though he is a liberal douche...it seems he uses his character to show people that do pay attention that his character isnt his real self, it seems that he uses his character to show how dumb some liberals are maybe its just me but when he's in his character he'll ask them questions and belittle them in front of his audience and you can tell they dont know wtf they're talking about an example would be that guy from Pennsylvania i think who is a veteran of either the gulf war or the war on terror...but the guy was running for some kind of political office and he asked him questions and the guy had to rethink his position on the issues and yes he was a lib...but Jon Stewart does write for them and we all know he's a raging liberal douchebag at heart, theres no doubt colbert is a liberal at heart because some of his guests like al franken and that liberal singer i forgot his name..

rhayes-So let me see if I am

rhayes-

So let me see if I am getting this right.

You are comparing Rush, who (admittedly) illegally obtained LEGAL pain killers for a MEDICALLY DIAGNOSED CONDITION after his LEGAL prescription ran out...with the trade in and use of illicit drugs smuggled into this country ILLEGALLY by drug cartels and drug lords from South America and Asia...and these are the same to you?

That's like comparing the use of aspirin and the use of crack cocaine and saying there is no difference between the two. It is utterly ridiculous. The ONLY arguement you can possibly muster is that Rush got his drugs illegally after his original prescription ran out. He would not be the first person...whether celebrity or regular person...who has become addicted to his pain killers.

Let me clear this up for you OK? Medically prescribed pain killers are legally produced, legally marketed and regulated by the FDA, and have a very clear, accepted and recognized use.

Cocaine, crack, LSD, Methamphetamine, acid, heroin and all the other illicit drugs are either ILLEGALLY manufactured in this country or ILLEGALLY smuggled here from other countries by powerful drug lords or drug cartels, and sold and used ILLEGALLY!! The key word here is ILLEGAL!!

Sports stars, Hollywood celebs, media personalties and regular folks who are addicted to drugs almost ALWAYS use the illegal kinds. Their drug habits directly contribute to the wealth and power of the drug lords/cartels; their money is used by the cartels to bribe and corrupt government officials, customs agents, and the police here and in the host country; they indirectly contribute to the enslavement and murder of thousands of people every year by drug lords, dealers and smugglers; and they contribute to the cost of spending billions of dollars every year to combat the trade in illicit drugs. Average (non-celebrity) drug users are often career criminals who either sell drugs or commit burglaries, robberies, assaults and numerous other crimes against society to fund their habits.

Cocaine, LSD, heroin and all the rest have ABSOLUTELY NO POSITIVE USE OR PURPOSE, and in fact have been proven time and again to cause a decline in personal lifestyle and behavior of any person who uses them, with ONE exception. One could argue that marijuana at least has a recognizable if somewhat controversial medical use.

Rush, on the other hand, improperly obtained prescription pain killers. He didn't contribute to the enslavement or murder of anyone, he didn't contribute to the bribing or corruption of anyone, and he didn't line the pockets of any powerful murderous drug lords or dealers. He didn't sell drugs, and his habit did not cause him or anyone else to break any law more heinous then falsifying a prescription.

How do these two things compare?

Utilizing the same lame liberal tactics as always, you attack conservatives and bring ridicule down on the heads of one of the most powerful conservative voices in the country, trying to equate his behavior with that of some of the most vile and evil people on the planet. You have taken an indefensible position and made desperate attempts to justify that position, ignoring the HUGE difference between Rush's behavior and that of the leaders of the Cali and Medellin cartels of South America, and the poppy field drug lords of Asia.

Your opinion would seem to be that Rush, being addicted to legal pain medication, has no right to speak about ILLEGAL drug use. This is like saying that I, as a law abiding citizen and legally licensed owner/driver of an automobile, have no right to speak out against illegal activities such as drunk driving  or speeding unless I give up my own license first.

It is ludicrous.

Medically prescribed pain killers are legally produced, legally marketed and regulated by the FDA, and have a very clear, accepted and recognized use.

wouldnt it be great if cocaine was legally addictive too?? then bush wouldnt have to lie or mislead the public about his own addictions!

as long as we make addictive drugs legal with prescription but if one had some natural home grown herb without any side effects or addiction then according to rush and neologic, that is wrong!

you attack conservatives and bring ridicule down on the heads of one of the most powerful conservative voices in the country

how dare we make fun of this poor bloke who doesnt have a degree to become the expert for the ignorant redneck masses who cannot formulate thoughts on their own. How do I make an insincere apology for laughing at your joke of a hot air hero. for 18 years he's fooled such a large of ignorant americans-is that a Guiness record?? pass the beer please!

it's so funny yet so sad. and we wonder why the rest of the world laughs at this country??

I'll try this phrase out here as it seems appropriate...

to paraphrase a poster here at NB:

"But rather than address the topic at hand, you decided to "change the topic" and instead threw out a (very unoriginal) list of things that I guess is suppose to show that the current administration consists of a bunch of liars. I guess the assumption here is that your side is better. Good luck with that. Look up the term non sequitur."

Ah, Mr Franken, demonstrating that Senatorial character that we all know is just beneath the surface. Will he make happy like this whenever he gets a favorable vote on the Senate floor?

On the one hand I would love to see this nitwit make a run, just to see him make an ass of himself. On the other hand I’m afraid the nitwits up here just might elect him! He really does belong in California!

Then again, geez, we elected a milque-toast AG to the Senate; bounced a competent 6 term Rep with senority and barely kept our Repub govenor. I think Norm is gonna warm to the fight; he can be real folksy but can also talk facts. Franken, unless he gets a serious makeover, is gonna come across as a putz. Whew! Strange times.

How dare a COMEDY show make f

How dare a COMEDY show make fun of precious Rush! Blasphemy!

...

You're missing the point. You can make fun of someone all day long without stepping over the line and making it extremely personal and/or a cheap shot. I've always thought that Jay Leno is the best at this during his monolouges. Unfortunatly, Jon Stewart and Colbert have yet to figure this out, as pretty much all of their "comedy" towards anyone on the right is made up of very mean spirited broadsides based on rumors, lies, and half truths. Now if Rush came on HIS show and compared Colbert or Stewart to Manson, they would get all up in arms and pissed off, "how DARE he make fun of us like that" like they're above ridicule. I've seen Stewart get all uppity when columnist Novack (accuratly) called him "self righteous". If you can't take it, then don't dish it out.

Rush makes personal attacks e

Rush makes personal attacks everyday, ala Michael J. Fox, Donovan McNabb.  He doesn't deserve anything.  He is worthless and not worthy of respect.  People like Rush Limbaugh are diseased and contributing to the downfall of our society.  He's a drug addict and viagra popping, little Dominican girl loving creep.  Get over it.  When you defend this guy you automatically lose all credibility.

As you so pointedly said, if you can take it, then don't dish it out...the knife cuts both ways chief...

syg-

You like Guns and Roses by any chance? Or the Doors? Jimmy Hendrix? The comedy of Robin Williams?

Well when you listen to the music made by Axel Rose or Jim Morrison or JH,  spoiled, drugged out, self destructive , I-can't-deal- with-life-so-I committed-suicide rock and roll "stars", you lose all credibility.

When you watch a stand-up routine by that hyperactive alcoholic whiner (what's this make for him...third time in rehab?) you lose all credibility.

See how ridiculous that sounds?

I happen to like all of the above named musicians and comedians, but (other than for illustrative purposes as I did above) I still wouldn't launch vindictive personal attacks against them (or any liberal) for their addictions, even for comedic purposes. It isn't a very decent thing to do, period.

D.J.R.

I'm not attacking Rush b/c he

I'm not attacking Rush b/c he did drugs.  I have no problem if somebody wants to be on drugs.

The issue is he routinely attacked other drug addicts while doing drugs.  He pretended to be hard line anti-drug, yet he used drugs.

You be the judge.

Jeez, I am almost getting tir

Jeez, I am almost getting tired of having to say this...read my earlier post about the difference. It might even enlighten you...although you are so close minded I doubt it.

But since you probably won't make the effort...(too much work and there is always the off chance you could actually understand and agree with it) let me lay it out for you.

As I have pointed out, there is a MAJOR difference between becoming addicted to your LEGALLY prescribed painkillers and ILLEGAL mind altering drugs. But I do not expect you to admit that, because it doesn't fit into your bash Rush, bash Bush, bash anything conservative mold.

D.J.R.

So I can't be against drunk d

So I can't be against drunk driving (an illegal activity) if I drink alcohol (a legal activity)?

Same thing, from where I sit.

Reminds me of Al Franken, the great leftist who won't hire blacks...

All that lovey dovey multiculturalism and he's a hardcore bigot, as his hiring records PROVE.

His mentors and bosses stole from poor ethnic orphans.

Syg, you don't care if someone is on drugs?  You stated that Limbaugh's drug use is "contributing to the downfall of society".  Yet, you don't care?  Then why make have such a strong opinion if you don't care?  Clearly, you are a hypocrite.

hold it,

No Syg isn't such a hypocrite. She is a MORON.

Syg, do you even LISTEN to the SUBSTANCE of Limbaugh's statements regarding M.J. Fox and McNabb?  You cannot debate the substance of what he said (which was all true, btw; look it up), so you engage in a personal attack.  What really burns you is that Limbaugh is smarter than you and is taken more seriously than you.  That really eats away at you doesn't it!  ;)

He's full of nonsense first,

He's full of nonsense first, himself second.  Nothing to see here... really, nothing.

Never relent.

balboa--Well, as usual I woul

balboa--

Well, as usual I wouldn't expect a liberal to understand or acknowledge it, but I will try (probably wasting my breath) to explain.

This website is dedicated to exposing and combatting liberal bias in the media. None of us, and I think I speak for all, has a problem with anyone making fun of Rush. The problem is that these same people would NEVER make fun of any of their fellow liberals for the same thing. It is (I could swear we have all been over this same territory before ad nauseum) typical liberal bias...ridicule the conservative for something that the liberals get a complete pass on.

You liberals are so fond of crying over the perceived lack of fair treatment and opposing viewpoints in the (you claim) conservatively biased press. So where is the fair treatment here? Rush gets raked about being addicted to LEGAL prescription painkillers (see my previous post), but if you are a sport star, musician, or from Hollywood you get nothing but "sympathy and support".

Is that clear enough for you?

D.J.R.

pssst.  It's a comedy show.

pssst.  It's a comedy show.  It doesn't have to be fair and balanced.  You must be joking.

And, no, you're explanation is not clear enough.  It's ridiculous.

Yeah well here's a surprise f

Yeah well here's a surprise for you...neither does talk radio...or the news.

Show me where, in what portion of the Constitution or what federal or state law, does it say that anyone espousing a particular viewpoint has to present the other side as well.

Show me where on Keith Olbermann's show, or PBS, or any of the major news media (CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC) they follow this formula?

If you are going to call for a certain set of rules, then you have to be willing to abide by those rules as well.

And as for the "comedy" excuse...that one is getting old. It doesn't excuse the one sided nature of the media's treatment of conservatives, and it doesn't excuse the tirades of spoiled loser comedians and actors who rip loose on Jews and blacks and then get a free ride from the liberal Hollywood buddies and the press.

D.J.R.

It's on comedy central.

It's on comedy central.

We're talking about Stephen C

We're talking about Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central. Not KO, not PBS. This is a comedy show, where he doesn't have to be fair. Comedy isn't fair. When Fox News launches their Daily Show copycat, I'm not going to come on here complaining about one of the hosts making fun of a liberal media figure.

Ah, now were getting somewhere.

The war in Iraq is not my number one issue, but I'm very interested in winning the war. With time and guts we can help the Iraqi people win back their country from those that seek to destroy it. It can be done, but we have to stick together and help those in need. By using the constant drumbeat of "get out of Iraq now" only serves to create more chaos. The libs in this country and their Democratic friends are actually causing a lot of the violence in Iraq, but they are too blind to see it. Someday you will understand.
