Imagine a Republican candidate for congress saying this:
Appreciate getting here almost on time. Our excuse in Oneida was, well,
we're on Injun time. They don't tell time by the clock. Our excuse here
is that I am a doctor and that we're never on time.
Now, he's heard the native americans themselves saying this. He didn't mean it to be degrading--it was a moment of self-deprecation in the first place, not lashing out at anyone else. But would the MSM even care? There would be story after story about "the controversy"--which means "all the media coverage"--and someone digging into his distant past to see if they can find someone who things they remember him using the n-word 20 years ago.
However, this is a "racial slur" you'll never hear about. Why? Wrong party. Steven Kagen is a Democrat.
