WaPo, Chicago Tribune, NYT Omit Story About Democrat Blaming Aurora Victims

Robin Kelly, the Democratic nominee in the special election to replace disgraced Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) is a staunch anti-gun zealot, who apparently also doesn't keep up with the news.  In video obtained by our friends at Breitbart, Kelly described James Holmes, the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooter, as a “gentleman,” and noted how the occupants inside the theater failed to draw their weapons to stop him.  In short, it’s the victims’ fault, and concealed carry permits did not prevent the tragedy.

This is what she said yesterday:

"in the movie [theater], they have conceal and carry, but nobody pulled out their guns to kill the gentleman that did all the damage that he did." [emphasis added]

To bring Kelly up on current events, it’s been documented that Holmes specifically targeted that theater since it banned concealed firearms on its premises, hence why there were no armed attendees to give him trouble.  This is nothing new.  The Wall Street Journal’s John Fund wrote in National Review last December that Holmes:

had a choice of seven movie theaters that were showing the Batman movie he was obsessed with. All were within a 20-minute drive of his home. The Cinemark Theater the killer ultimately chose wasn’t the closest, but it was the only one that posted signs saying it banned concealed handguns carried by law-abiding individuals. All of the other theaters allowed the approximately 4 percent of Colorado adults who have a concealed-handgun permit to enter with their weapons.

Furthermore, in a recent development, the University of Colorado’s psychiatrist treating Holmes warned police in June of 2012 that he was a “danger to the public due to homicidal statements.”  Holmes also threatened her in documents, which have now been released to the public.

Alas, we seem to have highlighted problems with treating mental illness in America, which is a subject everyone seems to be hesitant to talk about openly.

This is a major gaffe, and the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and the New York Times seem to be mum on the issue. What’s worse is that a congressional candidate blamed the victims, and not the perpetrator for the crime.  Who else, but a liberal, would call Holmes a gentleman?  If this were a Republican, he – or she – would’ve been smeared as heartless, un-empathetic cretin.
