U.S. Nuclear Sub Collides With Aegis Cruiser Off East Coast

The Navy is reporting that a U.S. nuclear submarine and an Aegis cruiser collided off Florida's coast Saturday.

According to NBCNews.com, no injuries occurred.

The vessels involved, the submarine USS Montpelier launched in 1991 and the Aegis cruiser USS San Jacinto first put to sea in 1988, collided at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET.

The Navy claimed in a press released that "overall damage to both ships is being evaluated," and the sub's propulsion plant was "unaffected by the collision."
