Happy fourth day of July i
July 4, 2007 - 01:54 ET byHappy fourth day of July in the year of the independence of the United States of America the two hundred thirty-second.
For those who do not know what this means. It means that we are in the two hundred thirty-second year of our independence. (231 years have now gone by and we have entered into our two hundred thirty-second year.)
Our founding fathers signed the U.S. Constitution with this type of dating system, along with the Gregorian dating system. They actually put us into this dating system, one that the liberals would like to pretend does not exist. But it does exist and is right in the closing paragraph of the Constitution.
By using this new (at the time) dating system our founding fathers were recognizing the truths found in the Declaration of Independence. They were actually making those truths The Framework of the U.S. Constitution.
Have a happy and safe 4th,
Debra...

July 4, 2007 - 02:10 ET by liberal_bug_zapperI am so happy to be coming back to my country. No matter how bad it gets, it's better than the rest of the world, and I aim to keep it that way. As the great Samuel Adams said:
The fireworks of tomorrow represent our freedom from tyranny by our own hands bearing arms guaranteed us by our constitution. So I ask of all red blooded United States Citizens, go out tomorrow with your family and let the world (most likely, the other people in the park, lakeside or where ever you are shooting off fireworks), know how you feel about your country. And while you're at it... shoot off a couple for me and have a big hot dog for me as well as I won't be able to partake in the celebration this year.
Together, we will stamp out liberalism until it is nothing more than a memory... a very bad memory.

July 4, 2007 - 02:31 ET by Conservative VoiceHappy fourth to all, especially to the military over seas. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. May God Bless America. I am thankful for holidays such as this one, this is one of the few holidays where we come together as Americans...not hyphen Americans, just Americans and celebrate our liberty with family and friends. Its a day where there are no liberals, no conservatives, no moderates, just Americans enjoying each other's company. Today let there be peace among all posters.

July 4, 2007 - 02:56 ET by sarcasmoI used to always make my traditional "one firecracker" for the 4th, but these days I'm in enough legal trouble just for being me, so I don't think I'll bother. It sure entertained the kids every time, and about every other time the cops would come around following the blast, but by then all the evidence was gone. And nobody was ever hurt because I don't ever follow the unsafe big-government requirement that fuses burn at least 3 seconds, but
no longer than 9 seconds.

Hotdog eating contest -- I pick Joey Chestnut
July 4, 2007 - 05:33 ET by sarcasmoSpeaking of traditions, this year I'm quite torn between Joey Chestnut & Takeru Kobayashi. I like Joey as a patriot, but I've got strong sentimental-favorite feelings for his insane, Japanese opponent. Kobayashi has provided me with great entertainment over the years, I just wish I'd bet on him sometimes! So I'm not even quite sure who I want to win between the two of them, and Sonja Thomas (she's insanely entertaining) is also in the hunt at 20 to 1 odds, I'm told. But I guess if I were allowed to bet on it (gee, thanks, big government!) I'd put my money on Joey to win with a new record today, despite my love for Kobayashi's eating-insanity. I think the jaw injury rumors are BS from Kobayashi's camp because they're scared Joey might be just as nutty as their guy. Oh, and I predict one of these days one of these nutcases will find a way to kill him or her self by eating too damn many hotdogs. Following said tragic-but-predictable death, control freaks will try to ban the tradition because life isn't a risk-free proposition, and I'll want to murder those control freaks -- or at least find a way to control them halfway as well as I can predict them. :)

July 4, 2007 - 08:30 ET by sarcasmoI think these competitors begin intoxicated, but may end up exploding. And, speaking of things that are going to blow-up, this is a good explanation of what's happening with the CDO scandal the regulators who "protect" us have been studiously ignoring.

July 5, 2007 - 07:33 ET by sarcasmoIt's worse than that, I could have gotten 4 to 1 on my bet...But at least I was right, and our nutcase was more-insane than Japan's -- and that's going some for Joey because island-nations tend to produce some of the planet's craziest people!! :) (Idea for a funny reality-show: Follow Joey around with a camera after the contest!)

July 4, 2007 - 07:12 ET by terrigA Safe & Happy Fourth of July to all Americans. May our nation celebrate many more! God Bless those overseas serving in our military and their families who also serve and wait as well. I'm fortunate this year to have my husband home but know next year will probably be different. I am truly blessed to live in such a wonderful nation and am thankful that there are those who sacrifice so much to keep us free. While things are not perfect, this is the greatest nation on earth. Whenever I traveled outside of the country, I was always brought to tears when I landed back home in this greatest nation on earth.

July 4, 2007 - 18:57 ET by JABOn this 231st birthday of our great nation, I would like to thank all the vet's and their families that have given everything to ensure Freedom abounds around the World (as well as here at home). There is nothing I can say that comes close to the sacrifice they have endured to ensure our way of life and pass it on to others whom do not even know what Freedom is, to you brave individuals, I say THANK YOU for those who can't.
It is wet, soggy and raining here in central Florida (thank goodness), but I would like to have had a repreive for the (now non-existant) fireworks this evening, if for no other reason, just to celebrate what others have sacrificed for my way of life.
Thanks again to all the Vet's and God Bless you and yours.
